Diner Reviews
  • "We were seated at a wonderful table out on the terrace. It was tranquil and delish. What can I say, The Mill Pond House is a wonderful restaurant with the best lunch deal in town."

  • "Too crowded for dinner, especially the beautiful outside area with bar. Lunch is quiet and the food is great."

  • "The food was very good. The service was ok. Their was a large party also that night. People who came after us, ordered first. When I booked the reservation, I mentioned I wanted a water view and that it was our anniversary. They tried to give us the furthest table away and they made no mention of our anniversary."

  • "Dined outside, overlooking water. Arugula and watermelon salad special, delicious!"

  • "This is a great spot for lunch - we had given up on Saturday night dinners due to expense, rushed service, and crazy-loud noise level. This all changes at lunch, with the crowd thinning out and a lot less noisy. Food is very good and a lot less $$$$"

  • " We were a party of four and all enjoyed our appetizers and entrees. The salads were interestingly mixed, crisp and fresh. The linguine with white clam sauce was especially good, plenty of sauce and fresh, tender clams. Everyone at the table at their fork in."

  • "Well, I'll just say that the food was good....creamed spinach was sent back. tasted as if it were a frozen package, bland and watery...my Sole was tasty, the rice that accompanied it was so undercooked it was inedible, and my husbands Scallops were delish. But the service was horrific......there were literally 3 servers on the floor and it was a very busy Thursday night. The wait was terrible for even a breadbasket. I know that this restaurant is better than what I experienced that evening so I would definitely say to try it...and I will go back, but if its anything like that night...it'll be a last time for sure."

  • "Went with my wife for a special dinner. A 7:30 reservation turned into a 7:50 seating, and then a long wait for the waiter to take the drink order. Had to request the wine list where in most places it's provided with the menus. After the drinks came, we order some wine and our food everything went well. They have an extensive modern steakhouse type menu. The food was all very good. The setting made for an enjoyable dining experience, although the tables are tightly packed in. The malted milk ball ice cream for desert was excellent."

  • "As always the food was wonderful I do think that staff forgot to bring our apps toa the table had to remind the waiter taht we did ot receive them. once arrived they were great. Great place to enjoy a special meal."

  • "Have been here many times, food is spectacular, as is the location and setting. Only complaint would be the mandatory valet parking since I am not a fan of strangers having access to my car while I am eating. If they offered an option to park yourself I would eat here more often but I am just a nutty car guy so it may not be an issue for someone else."

  • "From the minute we walked in we noted the carpet...unfortunately they even carried the carpet to the outside balcony dining area. It was a turn off. With the water view, it could be something special if decorated properly.... But the food wasn't great either. I had the scallops & they were over cooked...rubbery. Oh...and my wine glass came out with something green encrusted on it. Would not recommend the place."

  • "Over-crowded, overpriced sub par food and drinks. $12 Cosmo was terrible. If the Mill Pond wants to be high end, it needs to have more than a scenic view. Cocktails should use fresh juices and make sure they have experienced bartenders. One good thing was the chopped salad. Chicken was overcooked and the sides were lame and not what was listed on menu. I will not be going back"

  • "Was a very nice dinner, food & drinks were great. The only thing that was off was that the wait for outside and manager outside seemed to be a little off/chaotic. Was upset when told the wait for outside would be 45 min then as we were seated inside 2 minutes later we could see through the window that 2 small tables had opened up, and we would have been the next couple waiting for them. That was the only thing that's was off, other than that a good night! Manager inside and hostess were also very nice!"

  • "Have driven by Mill Pond for years and never had an occasion to dine there. This week, having theater tickets in Northport provided the perfect opportunity. All aspects met my expectations with the exception of the wait staff. Although the service was fine, their appearance made them look unprofessional. The all black clothes made them look like busboys rather than waiters. The wait staff were pleasant and accommodating, just looked inappropriate for their job. Will revisit."

  • "We took our daughter for her 21st birthday. The food is outstanding. I got the sushi and it was so fresh. My husband got the duck he said it was great. My daughter got some steak and so did my son. They both said it was delicious. I was surprised how crowded it was for a Mon night. I cannot wait to go back!!"

  • "If you can wait for an outside table it is a wonderful view. The food is consistently very good as is the service. WEorth going anytime you can."

  • "This place is located on the water with a nice view. They played music which I thought was nice as it wasn't that loud and it was a comfortable arrangement. The food was served and it was cold and tasteless. I personally wouldn't go their again as their are plenty of outdoor places to eat with much better food. The wait staff wasn't very friendly and they never checked up on us, we had to flag them down for drinks twice."

  • "We have dined here before on a busy Saturday night which was oversold and essentially service was poor. This most recent visit was a (busy) Friday night and both the food and service were really good. very minor delay in getting a table and kept up to date by staff on progress all the time. Sushi/Raw bar is very good here and seafood specials/main excellent. Weather was perfect for outdoor dining and the view of the lake is spectacular. definitely will return."

  • "Overall, it was a very nice experience. I was disappointed with the clams oreganata (my favorite). They were broiled too long and were burned. The lobster roll was tough and extremely salty. The coconut shrimp was great. The bread was great. The service was very good and I loved the atmosphere."

  • "Outstanding! Told our friends about our romantic dinner for two overlooking the Pond on our 57th Ann. It is a memory we'll never forget. We were treated like royalty from Sidecars to Irish & Italian Coffey."

  • "When we arrived we were told that we would have to wait 30 minutes for our table. I was upset and found our usual hostess. When I told her it was our anniversary and we had made the reservation through Open Table she immediately gave us a table upstairs and we were made very comfortable. They really went out of their way to correct the problem. I am a regular at the Mill Pond and I think it's a great restaurant."

  • "It is SO wonderful to go to a restaurant that can make a meal for you, the meal you WANT to have, and make it allergy-free. I have several challenging food allergies but Mill Pond House can always accommodate my meal choices and they are delicious. I never feel like I am "giving up" anything :)"

  • "We went here with a party of 7 for a birthday and had a wonderful meal. We were originally seated outside on the patio, but it was very hot and humid. Our request to be moved inside was accommodated with no fuss. Everyone's food was delicious. My only complaint would be that the wait staff was less attentive than I would have expected at such an expensive restaurant."

  • "I was looking for a restaurant for my wife's 40th birthday, where we could dine outdoors. A friend recommended Mill Pond House. They do not take outdoor reservations, but we got their at 6:10pm on a Friday and had no problem getting our table for 8. The view was even better than it appeared on-line. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable. The food, in most cases was delicious (tasted my friend's short ribs, which were a little bland). We all greatly enjoyed our meals, drinks, and desserts. All had a wonderful time! I would definitely recommend this spot."

  • "Love the Mill Pond House - the service and ambiance is fabulous. I had 1/2 dozen oysters for an app, and the sea bass entree, we split the peanut butter dessert with my Mom for her birthday. Most beautiful about this restaurant is the incredible scenic view!"

  • "We've been here dozens of times, and the food is always very good, but tonight the service couldn't have been worse. The hostess told us there would be a little wait. We had a 7:45 reservation, so we went to the bar, which was so crowded it was hard to stand there without being bumped or stepped on. The hostess came over at one point, and said our table would be next. She then came over again and said, "Do you mind if I seat this couple before you? I forgot about them". Well, what could we say? We finally ended up getting a table at 9:15!!! Then waited about 20 more minutes before flagging down our waiter to take our order. It was the worst service I've ever received. Anywhere. We wont go back on a weekend night ever again, that's for sure."

  • "It's always a pleasure to stop here for dinner. The spot is just beautifully located. You look onto the peaceful pond ringed by a few lovely houses. The staff is friendly & knowledgable about their menu & wines. The fish & seafood from the raw & sushi bar are fresh & expertly prepared. Everything is done so well from appetizers to dessert. This is one of our favorite spots. Reservations are a must."

  • "To start we both ordered a glass of wine. Pinot Noir. Neither one of us liked it very much. when we told the waiter we didn't like it, he had the nerve to say to us, "what am I supposed to do about it, drink it myself! it's a $$$ glass of wine. I could not believe that a restaurant this that the waiter would have the nerve to say that to a us. "The food was not very good. I had a filet mig. That was fairly good. I ordered sides of cream spinach & mashed potato's. The creamed spinach was way to creamy, actually kind of watery. My date had a side of Rissoto with her meal. The rissoto was over done. We both had a cappucino at the end and the coffee was very watery tasting. not very good at all. In fact I could barely drink it. "

  • "We've always enjoyed Mill Pond House and this time was no exception. Our food was fresh and cooked as requested. The duck was crisp and delicious. We had a table overlooking the water which added to our positive dining experience. We enjoyed our dinner and will be back. "

  • "I love Mill Pond House. We drive about 40 minutes from the south shore to go there...well worth the trip. The food is consistently great. The views on a beautiful day are gorgeous. Although, our waiter could have used a personality."

  • "While there are many who regularly eat at Mill Pond, I like to reserve it for special occasions that fall when the weather is nice and you want to be outdoors. The view is special for the north shore - shame since there's so much beach area on Long Island and so few places that offer a water view. Food at Mill Pond is consistently good and the servers try hard to please. Granted, the evening is going to cost you, but the value for your money is hard to beat."

  • "There were 4 of us and each of us was disappointed in the food. We are not super picky people, but for $170 per couple (with no drinks) we were disappointed. The restaurant was so dark we couldn't see what were eating-we had to use cell phones to look at the menu and the food. The view is really pretty. Probably a great place for drinks, because they have an outside bar."

  • " Mill Pond House provided the romantic ambiance that I was looking for where my wife and I could celebrate our Anniversary. We sat outside overlooking the water, and although the area became busy with a lot patrons, the noise level was no problem. The service was excellent - we never felt rushed, but yet our server(s) was always there when we needed something. The food and selection of items were both excellent. The owner/manager came by to make sure everything was to our liking - you could tell she cared - nice touch. Also, I noticed a woman at the next table must have felt a chill because the next thing I see is the waiter putting a small blanket around her shoulders - nice attention to details."
