Diner Reviews
  • "We celebrates my sons one year birthday there with family and the staff were so accommodating and kind. I was unable to make a reservation over open table for the 1:30 slot for 6 people so instead I made the 2:30 appointment and simply hoped there would be space and not to long of a wait. We were seated almost immediately. She moved us to a beautiful booth table at the end of the restaurant and even brought out steamed veggies for my son even though it was not on the menu. As for food this has easily become one of my favourite brunch spots located downtown. I am not much of a pancake person but after hearing so many rave reviews I had to give them a try and even with all the hype I was not the least bit disappointed. Definitely a must try!"

  • "I was recently there for dinner with a friend. The ambiance is amazing! I love the modern vibe yet intimate feel of the place. I had been there for brunch before and really enjoyed it. On this evening, our server was nice a little quirky which I think fits which embodies the mood of the restaurant and menu. She was knowledgeable about the menu and made some good suggestions. The food was great, the only downside is that it took a while to be served and when it was, it was a bit cold. The server promptly returned it to the kitchen and they quickly warmed it and re-plated it nicely. Service got a little slow towards the end but overall, a good dining experience and I will definitely be going there again."

  • "This is my 2nd time here and both times service and food were great. The restaurant has a special from Mon. -Thurs. 2 can dine for $48.50 till April and it is a wonderful deal. I especially liked their southern feasting menu. The fried chicken and ribs were amazing. The server was pleasant and helpful. Service was well timed. Would definitely come back to try other dishes."

  • "Had a lunch date here and it was very nice. The room was sunny and open and ordered the lunch special which I thought was fairly priced and very tasty. Good service and would definitely come here again!"

  • "I'd been once prior to Winterlicious, but couldn't pass it up. Really glad I didn't. The soup was amazing, a little heat, just perfect for a snowy day (which it was). I had the Duck Tacos for my main and it was amazing - I LOVED them! Wrapping up the meal with MTK's To Go Cookies, was brilliant, exactly what I needed an hour later!"

  • "We went for Winterlicious 2014 and were pleasantly surprised by the excellent food choices that were offered. Food was well prepared although a little too much spice in a few of the dishes, with great service."

  • "Fantastic selection of menu items. We all had different app/entree/desserts and were all pleasantly impressed. Scotty, our waiter, was attentive without hovering, energetic without being exhausting, and very helpful with suggestions. The atmosphere is a perfect combination of being 'hot' without being snobby. Would DEFINITELY go again."

  • "I hope there are more package experiences... Good price point for trying new ! I have not been back since it opened not because it what's not good but because it was yet to be experienced as a new tasting... What's new ... an I will come back?"

  • "Went for Winterlicious, it was absolutely delicious. The service was prompt and friendly, the rolls really were awesome, and the Veal Cheek may have been the best thing I have ever put in my mouth. It's a little far to go for us on the regular (Danforth), but would definitely go back when in the area for a Marlies/TFC game."

  • "The food was average. Nothing to complain about, but nothing special. The service, however, was disappointing. We spent $140 on two people (including a $30 bottle of wine), thinking we would spend the evening enjoying our meal. We knew that there was a second seating of the Winterlicious menu at 8, but we still felt we'd have two hours to spend there. We were in and out in 1 hour. I could spend more time at Swiss Chalet and spend half as much money. This was VERY surprising. And for that reason, I wouldn't go back."

  • "Winterlicious '14 with a good friend. App: soup; Main: mushroom faro risotto; Dessert: Nutella semifreddo. Mildred's TK "worships food" as they imply on their menu, and it is obvious that their dishes are thoughtfully put together and lovingly prepared. The food was absolutely outstanding...very highly recommended...and your convos will stretch out as you pause to take teeny tiny bites to savour the flavours (as we did)!! The staff, who clearly love working there, are all quick with a smile and made sure to check on us in a way that was attentive, but never overbearing. And OMG the Mulled Wine totally hit the spot for a cold winter night! I loved that the place was well-lit and has a comfy feel to it. Highly recommended to everyone!"

  • "I went to Mildred's Temple Kitchen for the first time during Winterlicious 2014 and I'm so glad I did. The food was extremely delicious and hearty. The portion size was more than I expected for a fine dining restaurant and the decor was absolutely beautiful. Not only was our server extremely friendly and personable, the entire staff was very welcoming. We had an amazing time and will most definitely be returning to try out their regular menu."

  • "Only the winterliscious menu was available but the choices were great. Duck rilette appetizer was tasty. Baby back ribs with black olive coffee rub so good. Will be back - I want to try the feasting menu after 'liscous - it looks great too and great value!"

  • "My husband and I had our first Winterlicious experience at Mildreds Temple Kitchen. As we are newbies to Winterlicious we opted for lunch and were not disappointed. Our table was ready on time. Staff were cordial, very helpful, never making us feel rushed or 'second class' diners there on the cheap. A well thought out menu, with several options for apps, mains and dessert. My burger was the best I have ever eaten and my husband enjoyed the perfectly rare duck breast taco, colourful and delicious. The chocolate pudding was less successful. Chocolatey and smooth but spiced with Mexican pepper. Too hot! But I highly recommend Mildreds for lunch, food was lovely, the room gorgeous and the staff attentive. What more could you ask for?"

  • "Having been to Mildred's before and enjoyed the food, the staff and the atmosphere, it was no surprise that nothing had changed. The food was delicious, the spiced cabbage with the back ribs an interesting combination. Our server Jenny, was friendly, knowledgeable and happy to provide her recommendations. The bench seating and the closeness of the tables might turn some people off but you don't have to turn and crane your neck to see the other dishes on the menu. All in all, a great experience, gastronomically and socially."

  • "Toronto Friend told us this was her fave restaurant, now we know why. Took a long cab ride from our hotel but was totally worth it. The web site made me think it was a down home diner but ... we found a hip, open, contemporary space with comfy tables and cool design, with unique gourmet food that was some of the best we have ever had anywhere. The friendly maître d comped us some bubbly to make us feel welcome as Toronto visitors right off the bat. The winter feast dinner (M/T/W nights) is worth it--so many things to taste, all fabulous and filling, at a great price. Service was perfect--attentive and warm but never bothersome. I wish we lived in Toronto, if we did we would eat here all the time. Do not miss it, this restaurant is a gem."

  • "Any evening, quiet or busy, MTK is always at the top of their game. I am a regular and if I want to impress anyone. MTK is the spot. My recent visit was with 3 others, 2 of whom had not been to the restaurant before. They were all raving about the food, the service and the ambiance at the end of the evening. The changes to the menu keep it interesting but the old favourites keep you coming back. The wine list, while small is still excellent. The service is top notch and very friendly. Love this place! RCP"

  • "Seems hard to find a place to have a good lunch without being too fussy, yet original and simply good! Mildred offers friendly & courteous service (which seems to be lacking in most eateries), good food and overall, great value."

  • "Service was friendly, we really had a great server. Nice ambiance. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the open concept. Great food. Recommend trying the burger and pair it with their winter beer. Would have liked the burger cooked a bit more, however they did tell me ahead of time that is was cooked medium. I was not able to eat all of the burger because it felt too under cooked for me. Enjoyed the banana marsh mellow dessert immensely. Overall, delicious food and presentation. Great neighborhood spot in liberty village."

  • "We loved our appetizers - caesar salad, biscuits and gnocchi poutine. We all had burgers for mains and there weren't great. The buns were over toasted - a little hard and the burger didn't sit well."

  • "We had a lovely dinner on Saturday night. We arrived a few minutes before opening (came into the city and traffic was very light) and they welcomed us with open arms. Had a drink in the bar area; tasty wine which bartender recommended. Our table was close to open air kitchen so gave us lots to watch while we had dinner. Tempura calamari, shrimp and crab cakes and burger were all delicious too. A beautiful loft-style urban setting."

  • "The menu had changed since I was there. It contained more carbs than I like to eat for lunch. It was difficult to choose something which was delicious and satisfying while remaining light. To much bread and too many eggs!! Having said that the service is always excellent and the ambiance is great. I'll still give it another try!!"

  • "We were celebrating a birthday and received tprofessional, friendly service. The meal for four (five courses) provided a delicious, varied menu, served family-style - perfect for our party. The set meal is offered M, T, W and is great value for really good food. We will definitely return."

  • "My husband and I love Mildreds Temple. The only thing I would change is how loud it can get - the tables are a little long and when it gets too noisy, it's hard to hear the other person you're with. The food is always delectable and the Caesar is to die for. I'd definitely recommend this spot to a friend."

  • "Nothing too exciting, but the food was good if not great and the services was good. Smallish menu and their draught beer list was a total of three. As I said before, not too exciting but good. 3.5 stars overall from me."

  • "This was a celebration dinner - birthday/baby on the way. The meal was outstanding from start to finish. Service and overall experience was great. The restaurant knew we were celebrating a special occasion and made us feel great by offering some private space (not seating anyone directly beside us - they were able to do so primarily because it was a weeknight, but nonetheless it was considerate of them). Our server was very nice and added to our dessert with a free one with lit candle. They gave us enough attention and at the same time enough space so that it made for a balanced evening with private moments, but with great service when required. I would highly recommend this place for a fantastic meal and overall experience."
