  • "First experience at Mildred's. Easy to make a reservation online. Service was great. Food was delicious! We had crab cakes and NY strip steak. Good serving sizes. Steaks were huge and cooked well. Highly recommend."

  • "Delicious creative Farm to Table style dishes. Waitress was very knowledgable and helpful. Great experience - would go back again next time I'm in town on business."

  • "This jewel of Gainesville will delight you for the food, menu, service, bar's wine and cocktails. They are very fussing about their selection ingredients that go into each meal. This is a very well managed restaurant that has well trained staff that are always there when something. I'm sure you will agree with a favorite of ours! Bon Appitite! J&J Gainesville, Fl."

  • "Keep returning to this restaurant every time we are in Gainesville because we have never had a bad experience here. This time I only gave four stars for the food. My mother had a salmon which was wonderful and my husband had his usual scallop dish which he really enjoyed. I decided to try the duck breast and it was a little tough but flavorful."

  • "Have eaten at CHEF GILL'S three restaurants. Was disappointed in Mildred's because my Pork Chop was over-cooked. Dry and difficult to cut. Mushroom soup was good. My husband's Pompano should have been more seared....lacked any color. Our server provided good service. Blue Gill is much better."

  • "You would never know how great a restaurant this is from the street. In a small, run down looking strip mall, Mildred's was a great find. The food was fantastic and the service impeccable. I had the Blue Cheese salad to start and then the flounder entrée. Everything was wonderful and I will definitely go back the next time I'm in Gainesville."

  • "We had reservations and were seated immediately. We let our server know that we had theatre reservations and we were served timely, not rushed and everything was great, service, food, setting. Portions were generous enough to share and save room for the fab desserts you see right when you walk in. We will go back, often."

  • "We enjoyed the appetizers more than the meals. Had Pompano which was a bit over cooked and dry. Steaks were very good. Service was excellent."

  • "My family gathered for a small celebration and thoroughly enjoyed Mildreds. The pompano fish was outstanding, and my 87 year old grandmother doted on the coconut cream pie for dessert. The atmosphere was pleasant and quiet; three of the party have trouble hearing but commented how quiet and enjoyable Mildred's was. All of the dishes were outstanding, and the staff took excellent care of us."

  • "My husband and I visit our Gator son in Gainesville often and are always on the outlook for a good restaurant. Our search is over, as with Mildred's we found THE BEST restaurant! The food was over the top incredible and the services was impeccable! I would recommend this gem to anyone that enjoys food as it should be presented."

  • "This is our favorite restaurant in Gainesville. The staff is always friendly and the food is always terrific. It is a bit upscale and the wine list is full of producers we are unfamiliar with which make meals here an enjoyable adventure. Highly recommend."

  • "Found a rabbit entree on New Years Eve menu - an item rarely found in restaurants. Both of us have enjoyed rabbit in the past so gave it a try. This was the best ever! Boned chunks were wonderfully seasoned and prepared in a bacon wrapped roll about 5 inches in diameter and served as 3/4 inch slices. Anyone who was thinking about ordering it, but hesitated because it seemed a bit too different missed a real treat!"

  • "My mom and I were traveling from Naples, FL to Atlanta, GA and stopped for the night in Gainesville. On Open Table, I found Mildreds Big City Food - it was just a few miles from our hotel and the description sounded interesting. We had an early dinner reservation so the restaurant was mostly empty when we arrived. Over the next hour, it filled with what were obviously locals who frequented the restaurant, judging from interactions with the wait staff. We started with specialty cocktails, housemade bread and then proceeded to salads and entrees. I had the local chicken, roasted and my mom had the salmon, both very good. The description of the restaurant mentioned housemade cakes and cheesecake so we left room to enjoy. Delicious!"

  • "I had the New York Strip steak with garlic mash and broccolini. My Wife had the Red Grouper with pearl onion risotto and kale. My steak was a true New York strip, with inside fat rim still intact. It is obvious Mildred's do their own butchery and have excellent knowledge of the craft. I ordered my steak medium-rare and it was perfectly prepared. The garlic mash was well seasoned with no one flavor overpowering the potato's natural starchiness. The broccolini was blanched and chilled with almost no seasoning - which is how it should be - and was served barely warmed by the heat of the mash and steak. My wife's piece of grouper was also perfectly cut and prepared, the risotto was well seasoned and creamy, but not runny. Easy 5-stars!"

  • "We've often enjoyed lunch at Mildred's, and decided to try their dinner, as the restaurant is located so close to the Philipps center for a pre-show dinner. Their dinner menu is fabulous and the food delicious. I was very happy to have selected the braised pork appetizer and the melt in your mouth scallops. The blend of flavors in each dish was surprising and delightful. We'll come back for dinner again!"

  • "You can always count on Mildred's to deliver great dishes every day, every time. Some places won't allow you to interchange the accompaniments to the main entree, but they will always do that, which is a real plus. You never have to look very far to find a waiter which are very knowledgable about items on menu. J&J GNV,FL."
