Diner Reviews
  • "Awesome location for getting back in touch with friends and taking time to relax."

  • "Mila was a dinning gem. The chief sent out a delightful dish for us to try and it was simply delicious. The service was great. Our waiter was attentive and responsive. The food was well prepared and tasty, not too much, just enough, great flavors. The desert, wish I could have taken back to my room so I could use my hands to eat it. It was wonderful. Price, a little on the pricey side but well worth it."

  • "Went there on 4.4.14 and the food was awesome. We both had the fried oyster salad that was superb. It wasn't a salad dressed up with a few fried oysters thrown on top. The oysters were worked into the texture of the salad. Just great. I had the sauteed drum with Vadouvan spices (french curry) that was outstanding. These people really know what they are cooking."

  • "In a city FULL of wonderful dining options, MiLa's was a fabulous choice. The chief had wonderful flavors in every part of our meal.... And the bartender.... He rocks! Everything about our dinner was perfect."

  • "MilA started off very good several years ago and continues to improve and is one of my favorites downtown. The menu changes regularly but always provides wonderful new additions. It is rarely full and never noisy. Perfect place to relax with a terrific meal and great service. Also great for business meetings where you can actually hear who you are talking with."

  • "Our visit to NOLA this time was an unplanned one, but fortunately we were in a hotel less than two blocks from MiLa, one of our all-time favorites. We ate there twice, both at night, and both times our meals were top-notch. I especially liked the celery root soup, but everything we ordered on the menu was extraordinary. The green salad, with its lemony dressing, was spectacular. All praises to this fine restaurant; may it enjoy many successful years."

  • "My wife and I were looking for a nice restaurant near the New Orleans Arena that we could have a nice dinner before a concert. We had never heard of MiLa's, but the Open Table reviews were pretty good, so we decided to give it a try. We were extremely glad that we did. The food was excellent. We both ordered the tasting menu with the wine pairings. The food and the wine were outstanding. It was expensive, but worth it. The service started off a little slow, but once the waiter made the initial introduction, we had no problem for the rest of the evening. We will definitely go back to MiLa."

  • "We went for dinner at MiLa on Saturday night and were impressed by the taste and presentation of every dish. We shared the beets salad, the barbecue lobster and the fried oyster salad. Each were so good, it would be a tough choice if I had to choose just one again! The we both had the scallion crusted scallops - again cooked to perfection - soft, tender scallops with a crispy scallion topping. The service was great, the ambience is upscale but relaxed. Can't wait to come back."

  • "Went to Mila's our first night in NO because everything was booked already on a Saturday night. Food was outstanding! Everything was so fresh & prepared perfectly. Combination of flavors & creativity is unmatched anywhere. Presentation was wonderful. The amuse was lobster pho which left us wanting a bowl not just a bite! The sweet potato rolls & lima bean puree was just amazing.the organic lettuce salad was perfect with lemonette dressing, watermelon radish & cucumber. Highly recommend the blackened drum & bacon wrapped tenderloin. So glad we discovered MILA. We are going back again this week for our last night in NO and MILA will be on our list of musts for every visit in the future!!!"

  • "We had a another delicious meal at MiLa this past Saturday. Another couple came with us and it was their first time. All four of us had different entrees and each one was equally delicious (we will definitely be back again)!!"

  • "Very nice. We enjoyed the peacefulness of the dining room after the streets of New Orleans on a St. Paddy's Day weekend. The wait staff was fine, non-intrusive. The celery root soup with blue crab was perfection! The drum was cooked perfectly but the sauce made the dish."

  • "I've eaten at MiLa many times and have never been disappointed in the food or service. The restaurant is beautiful, the food is outstanding and creative, the service is professional and not overbearing. They have validated valet parking in the Pere Marquette garage. What's not to love? We had the sweetbreads and the crab and apple soup for our appetizers. Both were bursting with flavor. I especially love the grits that serve as the base for the sweetbreads. I enjoyed the addition of crispy bits of pork belly to the dish, as well. We had the crispy baby chicken and the black drum entrees. The chicken is a must! It is exactly as advertised. The fish, which was spiced with warm Moroccan flavors was cooked perfectly. Go to MiLa!"

  • "Was visiting New Orleans and had heard of Mila. I think the dinner menu is more extensive, the lunch menu somewhat limited. But. . . the lamb burger was amazing, so very delicious. If you love lamb I would recommend a trip Mila. As was every restaurant we visited in our 5 day food a thon, the celery soup delicous, but not hot. Seems all the soup/gumbo we had was just tepid. Flavor wonderful, the very best ."

  • "Very tight clean atmosphere. Great attention to detail in the little things. This was one of the best meals I enjoyed in New Orleans."

  • "Delicious cuisine. The only drawback was the feeling that we were in a hotel restaurant - and we were!"
    Dined on 2/27/2014
  • "We had the chicken and the pork cheeks. The pork cheeks were flavorful but very heavy. The chicken was great. Best appetizer was the fried oyster salad. It was perfectly dressed and well seasoned. BBQ lobster was ok. Definitely try the root beer float dessert. Service was exceptional and dinner moved very quickly."

  • "Second visit to Mila and impressed again with the menu. Everything sounded so good it was hard to choose. I had the oyster salad and the cauliflower soup - both winners. My husband did the Fois Gras and the crispy baby chicken. The one misstep this time was a black drum fish that was coated with a curry seasoning -- it was just over powering for the fish. But LOVE Mila and will come back again."

  • "If you are staying in the central business district, it is a good place to dine. We walked across the street from the Roosevelt. Parades were going on and the New Orleans was loud and rowdy as usual, but the restaurant was a peaceful enjoyable spot with good food, helpful, friendly wait staff and relaxing atmosphere. My tuna was cooked perfectly - pairing with Black eyed peas was different. Both were good but lacking texture and spices that Would complement each other. Tasted the scallops, salad, and desserts - good ranking for all."

  • "Dinner was amazing! One of the best meals I've ever had, easily. Go for the celery root soup, the pig cheeks and don't skip out on the Abita root beer float!"

  • "Went there for an early dinner before the theater. It was wonderful. The service was great as was the food and the overall experience. Strongly recommend."

  • "The only complaint is that I wanted a table for 8 and I booked on open table and the choices came up for 7:45 or 8:30. So I figured they were booked up for 8. I got there and there was only one other occupied table in the restaurant. Why do you think that happened? It makes me afraid to trust Open Table going forward."

  • "Worst meal I have ever had anywhere. Arrived for breakfast. Ordered crawfish omelettes. Was scrambled eggs with three crawfish. When we complained server laughed. Where are the owners, management, anyone besides a young server who could care less? $18 a person for scrambled eggs and had to pay another $8 for parking. Hope the owners are making gold because their food and service are the worst I have ever had. How are they in business? Where is the integrity of the supposed Chef owners? They should be embarrassed to have their name attached to this mess."

  • "MiLa is one of our favorite places to dine. The food is consistently excellent, and the service is always terrific. The dishes are perfectly sized, unlike many New Orleans restaurants. We never have to worry about getting bored of the menu since the chef frequently changes it to suit whatever is most fresh for the season. The ambience is sophisticated and reminds me of NY. We come for special occasions and enjoy watching our friends who haven't been yet, delight in the flavors."

  • "We were in New Orleans with our friends. Prior to coming, we called to make reservations for New Year's Eve. We were surprised to find there was a set menu since there was no mention of this when we made the reservations. The price of the meal was not on the menu, but we had no other options for dinner. The appetizers & dessert were good. However, the scallop entree consisted of a few thin scallops that looked like they had been cut in half! The overall portion sizes of each part of the meal were very small as well. When we got the bill, we were shocked to find that it cost about $100 per person! We had a fabulous meal with 2 magnum bottles of wine at Restaurant Revolution the night before for about the same price per person with more food!"

  • "The acoustics are well thought out leaving each table able to have a quiet conversation and be heard. The food was amazing. Every bite right down to dessert was so tasty. The bar has a healthy selection of high end spirits. Will definitely dine here again."

  • "We did the Winter Tasting Menu and it was fabulous! Look forward to another meal at MiLa. Only con was a large family with a tired, loud toddler was seated right beside us. There were other tables available that would have given them more space and made the noise factor less harsh for other diners. I'm sympathetic to trying to dining with children - it can be a challenge. I think this is where the host or hostess needs to use discretion when deciding where to seat such a group. Overall, MiLa is a keeper and we'll come again."

  • "Live in Nola, but am a creature of habit with the same neighborhood restaurants. MiLa was recommended by a co-worker when I asked around for a good spot to take some people to dinner. We were not disappointed, food was excellent! We all ordered different things so we could all take a taste and everything was delicious. Service was great, staff were very pleasant. Only negative was that it was a little bit too dark and quiet for us. Will keep it on the list for a special place to go to but the atmosphere will probably keep us from going regularly."

  • "We think MiLA is one of the top five restaurants in New Orleans. Last couple times we have been there it has been awesome. The chicken entree is wonderful as are the salads and soups. Never a bad dish here."

  • "The tuna was excellent (peppery with some sweetness from a molasses syrup poured around the edges) and the desserts were plentiful -- in fact, they were too big!"

  • "Mila seems to get overlooked in food circles, but it proves time and again that it belongs in the discussion of worthwhile New Orleans restaurants. I've dined here several times in the past two years and have enjoyed every aspect of the meal. Specifically, the salad and soup appetizers are always fresh and delicious followed by a good size portion of fish for lunch or dinner and the desserts always please. As a bonus, they offer French press coffee and a great selection of teas. I highly recommend this place for a quick or not so quick healthy lunch or dinner."

  • "This is an excellent restaurant. Why it isn't full all day every day is a mystery. The one advantage is that, on those occasions when some of the more popular New Orleans restaurants are full, you can still get a reservation here."

  • "Modern and Monochromatic decor. We were there for New Year's Eve and it was no different than if we were there on a regular night out with the exception of the pris fix menu. Four courses, two options for each course. The food was very good, but the service was extremely slow -- perhaps 20+ minutes between the time that plates were picked up and the next course arrived. The restaurant was not full, and remember, there were only two choices for each course -- not much prep diversity for the kitchen. All in all, we found our experience slow and boring. Thank goodness we always have plenty of fun stuff to talk about with each other."

  • "We have been to MiLa before and enjoyed it and were looking forward to our NYE meal. They called us that afternoon to inform us it would be Prix Fix menu, 5 courses, $75 each. Not what we had wanted but now too late to change reservations. Out of five courses, one was actually sorbet between the courses. So really only 4 courses. Service was abysmal, mostly non-existent. It took over 2 hours for the 4 really tiny courses. I had to beg for another glass of wine from a passing server, ours never asked in the two hours. I don't know what was going on, but we will never eat at MiLa again."
