A word from Miku Restaurant
We specialize in Aburi, or flamed-seared sushi, which was developed nearly a century ago in Japan. The act of applying fire directly and lightly sear is known to enhance the natural flavors of the fish. Miku owner, Seigo Nakamura, innovated the Aburi concept by creating speciality sauces, using non-traditional Japanese ingredients, to complement the unique taste properties of each fish.

Miku Restaurant is within walking distance from the Pan Pacific Hotel, Canada Place, Trade & Exhibition Centre, IMAX Theatre, Cruise Ship Terminals and Sea Bus. If shopping downtown, join us for lunch and re-energize.

It's entrance is at the corner of Howe Street and Canada Place Way, overlooking the east cruiseship terminal at Canada Place.

**Please note: We do not take reservations for the patio as it is a first come, first serve basis. We also only will hold reservations for an additional 15 minutes.

  • "They should tell us the tea is for charged first before order Really mad about it"

  • "Sushi was awesome, but the desserts were the best!"

  • "Food is amazing. But found it really hard to carry on a regular conversation in the space. The restaurant needs to seriously invest in sound muffling. Not enjoyable when sounds from diners, kitchen, and staff all became part of our dining conversations. We literally had to yell at each other in order to be heard."

  • "While not prep, armed in a fashion I was used to, it was excellent in flavor, presentation, quality, quantity and delivery and very reasonably priced. I will definitely be back."

  • "Their aburi sushi is amazing, but it's too noisy for conversation."

  • "Best and most original Sushi style restaurant that I have been too. I have introduced many people to Miku and nobody has been disappointed. Try their signature Aburi style dishes and the carpaccio is amazing."

  • "I heard about Miku from friends and it absolutely delivered an amazing experience. In particular, the food was absolutely incredible and our waiter was funny, cordial, knowledgeable and gave fantastic insights into what he liked. This was spot on and we had some of the best sushi/food we had ever had."

  • "Great food with very good service! Will certainly return for more BUT, the noise level in the room looking over the water was intense. Overall, it is worth a "two thumbs up"."

  • "Fantastic restaurant, by far one of the best service experiences. A cut above the rest."

  • "After my first visit a couple of months ago as part of a business evening, I couldn't wait to bring my family back for a special dinner. Service was as bad this time as it was great the first. Incredibly slow, not engaging or attentive and drinks forgotten. The food was as good but because of the high price, the ambience has to be too. While we had a lovely table by the window, the noise in the back room was literally deafening and we cut our meal short due to the disruption. We recently spent the same amount of money at The Pear Tree and value comparison was incredible."

  • "Our waiter kept forgetting our table, we had to ask for water several times before it finally arrived. Same story wtih the drinks and food. The server admittedly forgot to ring in our food and so we had to wait and wait."

  • "It was really an amazing experience!Excellen food, service and location.Just one tiny complaint,we reserved ahead of time but when we got there they told us that that we have about an hour to dine because they need the table by a certain time. Wasn't sure if there was a function or something but if there was they shouldn't be reserving tables if they are going to rush you,not that an hour was not enough but who wants to eat watching the clock right?"

  • "We appreciated everything we ate! Our server was very nice and helped us choose through their specialties. That did help to make our experience perfect!"

  • "I love their salmon OShi. But I was so disappointed for their Toro sashimi, it's not melt in my mouth. They charge us for the tea without notice me. their shrimp fritter batter are too thick and salty. The waiter who took our order was so rude and black face to me, while I ordered chef special $27, salmon OShi and crunchy surf and turf roll. I told him that, I will order more later. I like to order 3 dishes at the time, to keep everything fresh. He changed nicer to me after I ordered Toro sashimi, shrimp fritter and salad. It's end up the bill came out $100 + 18% tips for 2 of us."

  • "Came to miku second time. Good food both times. However the screw up twice about the experience was due to hostess screwup. What really upset us was we came here for our 4 year anniversary. Made the reservation at 7, arrived at 645 a little early. Waited till 715 to get a table. I get it restaurant is busy. Honestly I didn't mind the wait but the hostesses *there were 3 of them* didn't even have the courtesy to check in and let us know that it was going to be a bit longer of a wait. There were others that walked in and got seated right away. Again could be because they just went to the bar...not sure. If there was only one hostess I would more understand that she is busy. However there were 3 of them there, gave us glances here and there."

  • "As Always our food was exceptional and service was excellent. We had a table on the window facing the water so that was great as well. Worth the trip from Langley. Can't wait to come back."

  • "I went to Miku during my vacation in Vancouver. I had made a reservation at 1130 and requested window seats. I was late, but they still kept my seats and gave me the window seats. And the service is great, the server was so nice. The food is yummy, I love the salmon aburi! I wil be back again if I am going to Vancouver next time."

  • "This is my 4th time going there, the service is very friendly and professional, the view is fantastic, and the food presentation is beautiful. We have tried Seasonal vegetables Tempura, Ebi Fritters, Aburi Chirashi Tart, Kaisen Soba Pepperoncino, Sable Fish, Miku Zen, Aburi Jidori Chicken, they all looked amazing, and tasted so delicious, except Aburi Jidori Chicken is too much on a salty side."

  • "Love this place.... going for last few years when at previous location (wasn't best spot) now they have an amazing view & nice setting. Great to see because I was concerned the last location wasn't that busy. Wanted this restaurant to succeed so it stayed open for me to enjoy the food.... Really is my favorite Japanese joint in Vancouver, On the high end side, so special occasions but you pay for what you get, amazing quality and out of this world food. Highlights are always the Aburi Salmon Osi Sushi and the Sake miso grilled Sea bass. So buttery good.... Asked our waitress to bring us the chef's recommendations and we left so happy. We had a friend from San Fran, brought her to a variety of restaurants and this was her fav."

  • "Best Nigiri I've ever had, and their Miku Roll & Pressed sushi are incredible. This place only gets better every time I come and the service is great as well."

  • "Been meaning to try Miku for a while because of all the hype I've heard about it and it didn't disappoint. We had an early dinner at 5:15 pm because all other times were booked when we looked two nights prior. We got a nice window seat with a view of Canada Place. Ordered two cocktails - shiso mijito and Miyazaki (?) Mango, both were tasty. Good portions for appies - kale gomaee was a nice twist and there was plenty of kale. The Miku Roll is to die for - that hint of uni inside added a really nice flavour. I thought the premium aburi wasn't the best deal and with the other rolls that were available that were cheaper and more unique, those would probably be a better bet. Overall, a great dining experience."

  • "I strongly recommend the aburi salmon sushi. It is the best sushi in my life."

  • "Modern take on traditional Japanese. The lightly seared salmon sushi molded and cut into rectangles was a surprise to my guest and he loved it. Sable fish is a favourite here. Design details well considered, lovely wall murals, open space. I've been several times and it is too loud for a business conversation unless it's two people side-by-side at the lunch bar. Overall, good quality food, but too loud for business."

  • "We went to Miku to celebrate a special 60th birthday. I had called twice beforehand to confirm that we would be able to secure a table with a view and mentioned both times that it was for a 60th birthday celebration. When we got there, we were given the option of squeezing 6 people into a 4 person table with a view or a booth seat for 6 without a view. I was very disappointed as I had emphasized on both telephone calls that this was a very special birthday celebration. We ended sitting in the 6 person booth seat with no view."

  • "Awesome food, lots specialty rolls and fresh sashimi Friendly waitress Pricey"

  • "Overall food was good. We had a party of 6 and had omakase. Quality of food measures up with competitors. Selection of sake is also good. Service and atmosphere, however, was quite disapointing. Seating is cramped. Our initial server was unhelpful and has a harsh attitude. At this price point, servers should be proeprly trained in basic etiquette. It is unfortunate that this will turn customers away."

  • "Wonderful food and service. Don't plan on a quiet evening or any deep conversation. The noise level is high and energetic. So for groups it's fun. This night we could not hear each other at all (3 of us) so our night ended early."

  • "The food and service were very good. A great location."
    Dined on 2/26/2014
  • "Food was fine but overpriced. Also, the place smelled really musty. I know it's by the water and it was raining but a pricey restaurant like this shouldn't smell that bad. The wait staff was attentive and helpful."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "Very good and innovative dishes. The salmon aburi and the miku roll were especially good. The noise level is somewhat of a problem."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "Their sushi and drink list provided many options for even those who may not like raw fish. Everything we ate was amazingly fresh."

  • "I enjoyed the Zen lunch that offers a variety of food for tasting. It's a good lunch for a special occasion, be it a date or a guest from out of town."

  • "Took boyfriend to birthday dinner here. Didn't think the restaurant would be this loud. Expensive food for how little the size and amount. But the display of food was nice. Neither of us were full."

  • "I have been to Miku twice, and I have thoroughly enjoyed myself both times. The food is to die for, and the service is phenomenal. The staff are friendly and professional, and their team service ensures that no patron is left unattended for long. The ebi fritters make me teary with joy and the beef carpaccio blew my mind. The sushi is stunning, and the ambiece makes this place an unforgettable experience. I plan to eat here each and every time I am im Vancouver, even if it means I get one or two fewer pairs of boots. Eat here before you die, or regret it forever!"

  • "My family and I were extremely impressed by the quality and clever style of the food. Great position, great service."
    Dined on 1/25/2014
  • "I love Miku. Always have. But something has to be done about the personalities of the girls hired to work the hostess desk. They all have an air about them and do not treat the patrons with a welcoming warmness. They are hautey and arrogant and management needs to understand that they set the tone for the patrons experience at the restaurant."

  • "Miku is a great place if you like a frenetic "happening" eating atmosphere. We had guests from Out East and thought it would be a great place for dinner having had a couple of enjoyable lunches at Miku. However, despite having made the reservation weeks in advance and having by e-mail and verbally requested a table with a view of the harbour for our out of town guests we were seated miles away from the view by the bar. To make matters worse, the noise level was VERY "energetic" to the point of it being impossible to hear anyone two seats away and difficult to hear the person sitting across or beside. The food was good but the inability to properly carry on a conversation detracted from the dining experience. Wine list is mediocre."
