A word from Miku Restaurant
We specialize in Aburi, or flamed-seared sushi, which was developed nearly a century ago in Japan. The act of applying fire directly and lightly sear is known to enhance the natural flavors of the fish. Miku owner, Seigo Nakamura, innovated the Aburi concept by creating speciality sauces, using non-traditional Japanese ingredients, to complement the unique taste properties of each fish.

Miku Restaurant is within walking distance from the Pan Pacific Hotel, Canada Place, Trade & Exhibition Centre, IMAX Theatre, Cruise Ship Terminals and Sea Bus. If shopping downtown, join us for lunch and re-energize.

It's entrance is at the corner of Howe Street and Canada Place Way, overlooking the east cruiseship terminal at Canada Place.

  • "Absolutely no complaints about the outstanding food, and the lunch offerings were excellent. I was also delighted to leave "full" after a lunch special - in my experience that's quite rare. The only constructive feedback I'll add is that it took quite a while - at least 20-25 minutes for our first food to arrive, and then it all came at once. We had ordered one roll to start with to share (we were all quite hungry) and it was >20 mins before it and our drinks arrived. Then within 2 minutes our lunch specials arrived, followed moments later by the miso soup. The timing of the 3 courses was essentially not 3 courses. "

Incredibly slow, not engaging or attentive and drinks forgotten. The food was as good but because of the high price, the ambience has to be too. While we had a lovely table by the window, the noise in the back room was literally deafening and we cut our meal short due to the disruption. We recently spent the same amount of money at The Pear Tree and value comparison was incredible."

Wasn't sure if there was a function or something but if there was they shouldn't be reserving tables if they are going to rush you,not that an hour was not enough but who wants to eat watching the clock right?"

  • "I love their salmon OShi. But I was so disappointed for their Toro sashimi, it's not melt in my mouth. They charge us for the tea without notice me. their shrimp fritter batter are too thick and salty. The waiter who took our order was so rude and black face to me, while I ordered chef special $27, salmon OShi and crunchy surf and turf roll. I told him that, I will order more later. I like to order 3 dishes at the time, to keep everything fresh. He changed nicer to me after I ordered Toro sashimi, shrimp fritter and salad. It's end up the bill came out $100 + 18% tips for 2 of us."

  • "Came to miku second time. Good food both times. However the screw up twice about the experience was due to hostess screwup. What really upset us was we came here for our 4 year anniversary. Made the reservation at 7, arrived at 645 a little early. Waited till 715 to get a table. I get it restaurant is busy. Honestly I didn't mind the wait but the hostesses *there were 3 of them* didn't even have the courtesy to check in and let us know that it was going to be a bit longer of a wait. There were others that walked in and got seated right away. Again could be because they just went to the bar...not sure. If there was only one hostess I would more understand that she is busy. However there were 3 of them there, gave us glances here and there."

Really is my favorite Japanese joint in Vancouver, On the high end side, so special occasions but you pay for what you get, amazing quality and out of this world food. Highlights are always the Aburi Salmon Osi Sushi and the Sake miso grilled Sea bass. So buttery good.... Asked our waitress to bring us the chef's recommendations and we left so happy. We had a friend from San Fran, brought her to a variety of restaurants and this was her fav."

We had an early dinner at 5:15 pm because all other times were booked when we looked two nights prior. We got a nice window seat with a view of Canada Place. Ordered two cocktails - shiso mijito and Miyazaki (?) Mango, both were tasty. Good portions for appies - kale gomaee was a nice twist and there was plenty of kale. The Miku Roll is to die for - that hint of uni inside added a really nice flavour. I thought the premium aburi wasn't the best deal and with the other rolls that were available that were cheaper and more unique, those would probably be a better bet. Overall, a great dining experience."

  • "Modern take on traditional Japanese. The lightly seared salmon sushi molded and cut into rectangles was a surprise to my guest and he loved it. Sable fish is a favourite here. Design details well considered, lovely wall murals, open space. I've been several times and it is too loud for a business conversation unless it's two people side-by-side at the lunch bar. Overall, good quality food, but too loud for business."

I had called twice beforehand to confirm that we would be able to secure a table with a view and mentioned both times that it was for a 60th birthday celebration. When we got there, we were given the option of squeezing 6 people into a 4 person table with a view or a booth seat for 6 without a view. I was very disappointed as I had emphasized on both telephone calls that this was a very special birthday celebration. We ended sitting in the 6 person booth seat with no view."

It is unfortunate that this will turn customers away."
