A word from Miku Restaurant
We specialize in Aburi, or flamed-seared sushi, which was developed nearly a century ago in Japan. The act of applying fire directly and lightly sear is known to enhance the natural flavors of the fish. Miku owner, Seigo Nakamura, innovated the Aburi concept by creating speciality sauces, using non-traditional Japanese ingredients, to complement the unique taste properties of each fish.

Miku Restaurant is within walking distance from the Pan Pacific Hotel, Canada Place, Trade & Exhibition Centre, IMAX Theatre, Cruise Ship Terminals and Sea Bus. If shopping downtown, join us for lunch and re-energize.

It's entrance is at the corner of Howe Street and Canada Place Way, overlooking the east cruiseship terminal at Canada Place.

**Please note: We do not take reservations for the patio as it is a first come, first serve basis. We also only will hold reservations for an additional 15 minutes.

Food was very good. Tasty and different. Sushi and sashimi didn't come with wasabi, but it wasn't missed. I took my elderly mother who enjoyed the food immensely, but found the techno music a bit loud. Prices are a bit steep but worth it once in a while.

Everything about our meal, both food and service, was fantastic. Everything we ordered was delicious and the server was stellar! My only compliant would be that it was quite noisy. Our table was in the middle of the restaurant right next to the bar area so at times it was difficult to hear each other. I'd definitely recommend Miku, but if you want a quiet romantic dinner, try to get a table on the side or by the windows. if you do, you definitely will not be disappointed.

Had heard many good things about Miku, so decided to try it out myself. The tofu salal to start was really tasty and original, but the duck and kale gomae were a bit lackluster in flavour, and the duck was not as tender as it could be. Our steaks were perfectly cooked, and the accompanying mashed potato and vegetables were particularly delicious. The coal harbour role and aburi oshi salmon (their signature dish) were again not very impressive. Especially for the aburi oshi, I did appreciate the moistness of the rice, but it was drenched in mayo and the slice of fish actually on the dish was miniscule.

  • One of the best Japanese omakase

I've heard good things about Miku and finally got to try it this week. I had trouble finding the restaurant as the address is quite misleading. It's facing Canada Place directly on the waterfront side. We decided to go with the Miku Shokai, essentially omakase, which turns out to be one of the best omakase I've had. In my opinion, Miku beats Tojo for quality and value. Even though the restaurant was supposed to be an aburiya, there were not as many grilled dishes as the name suggests. It is a little too "energetic" for catching up with an old friend, we had to raise out voice to be heard above the din. Definitely recommend it and would love to be back some time soon.

We reserved our table but still had to wait an extra 15mins because the people did not finish on time. However, food was excellent, and our waiter was very knowledgeable and well mannered as an fine dining restaurant should have. Food is quite pricey, but thats what you pay for a luxurious special dinner.

  • Fabulous Miku let down by Hosting

We are regular fans of Miku since day 1 in the Guiness Building. The food and sevice on the floor is as good as ever but the hostessing leaves a lot to be desired. Last three times it has been chaotic. This time I had a reservation, announced myself at the hostess desk and was told it would be a short wait while some guests paid. We waited and waited. I then received a call on my cell telling me that my reservation was cancelled as I had not shown. Once cleared up and hastily seated the waitress Carol was brilliant, the food excellent - we love Miku but the fear of how we may be treated at the host desk makes me reticent to recommend. At the old location we never had this problem.

My sister and I had to Miku Shokai. We had wonderful food and wonderful service. It was paced perfectly and our server did not rush us to finish our dishes before the next one came out even though the restaurant was packed. We felt comfortable. It was a little bit loud, but that is expected with such a full restaurant.

I always like to try something new every time I come to Miku - and its always delicious! I had the Miku Zen and every little dish was just delectable. The only criticism I have to add is the fact that we were a group of 6 and were squished into a booth which was not very comfortable for a couple of businessmen and women on lunch. Additionally, I had requested (after I was carefully asked the question) for no wasabi, and although they did not put wasabi in the small dishes, there was definitely wasabi in my sushi rolls to which I told the server was fine as I was sure someone else at the table would still enjoy.

The food is outstanding at Miku. Creative and delicious Japanese cuisine. A real pleasant surprise and different from the typical Sushi restaurant. It's pricey, so for lunch it's a special treat from the office from time-to-time. Also as a business lunch spot a few more combination type menu options would be appreciated when dining along. However, it's a new favourite spot for me - both the Aburi sushi lunch and the Tempeh salad I highly recommend. Can be noisy and staff are sometimes forgetful when you are waiting for a table, or in regards to who last spoke to you about what, but they are always friendly (there is a lot of staff).

Our server was from a very small island between NZ and Australia and she suggested that we let her bring a mix of food. It was fantastic. The food just coming and coming. Every course was wonderful. She also suggested a cold saki and generally I only drink the warm Saki. It was wonderful. A few times I started to wonder how much money I had spent but when it was all said and done we came in under the $100/head I was planning on. It is not an inexpensive place but it can also be very reasonable if you order off the menu. I would highly recommend eating there.

If you've never eaten here before, this would be a good option to go as you get to try not only sashimi but also their famous aburi sushi plus some of their other delectable dishes. My server was excellent so my dinner experience was very, very good.
