A word from Miku Restaurant
We specialize in Aburi, or flamed-seared sushi, which was developed nearly a century ago in Japan. The act of applying fire directly and lightly sear is known to enhance the natural flavors of the fish. Miku owner, Seigo Nakamura, innovated the Aburi concept by creating speciality sauces, using non-traditional Japanese ingredients, to complement the unique taste properties of each fish.

Miku Restaurant is within walking distance from the Pan Pacific Hotel, Canada Place, Trade & Exhibition Centre, IMAX Theatre, Cruise Ship Terminals and Sea Bus. If shopping downtown, join us for lunch and re-energize.

It's entrance is at the corner of Howe Street and Canada Place Way, overlooking the east cruiseship terminal at Canada Place.

**Please note: We do not take reservations for the patio as it is a first come, first serve basis. We also only will hold reservations for an additional 15 minutes.

I take the opportunity to come here whenever I can! Food is great. Highly recommend the aburi sushi. Service is generally good (depending on which server). Reservations are a must. Even then be prepared to wait at busy times.

We go quite often.. We bring our now 10 month old, the staff are all very accommodating and friendly. The food is ALWAYS great, fast and fresh. The atmosphere is vibrant, busy and happening. Even on a Monday night this 'hotspot' is busy.

the food tastes great and the presentation was wonderful. our server knows the menu well and she provided very sincere service on an exceptionally busy Monday evening. however, the restaurant stinks (and it's not the typically seafood smell as that's acceptable) especially at the entrance area. that's very disappointing although I think the staff and chef are not aware of it as they have been working there for hours.

  • 4th time not the charm

    Dined on 8/8/2014
This was my 4th time dining at Miku. When I was there the first 3 times, food were excellent. Taste was evenly distributed (not too plain nor salty). The first 3 times were spread in a 6 months span. The 4th time was a disappointment, soba pepproncino was salty, sashimi was too soggy, even their most infamous oshisushi was NOT good. the taste was not EVEN spread on the oshisushi. some were plain, some were tasteful. It is NOT magical compared to the first 3 times when i was there. Not sure if it's because the restaurant was too busy. However, it is always busy. Service was great as always. all servers were nice and friendly. anyways, i think i will stop dining at miku for a while.

We live in Victoria but were told to eat at miku when we visited van. Now we can't eat sushi in Victoria anymore as miku is hands down best we have ever had. Once you try the chefs aburi special you will understand what I'm saying .. Salmon Oshi I think it's called .... Beaut .... Order till your full as everything sent out of that kitchen is ridiculous in flavour ... Only neg is it is $$$$ but what do you expect if it happens to be the best sushi you have ever had it must cost $$$ plus the view isn't bad either lol

Hi, MIKU offered very good food, some of it quite original and presentation was nice. The service was not great for ths standard of restaurant. The decor is beautiful, however the restaurant is very big and as it was not full there was a lack of ambience. It was sort of eat and go, which is unfortunate in such a beautiful place.

Went to Miku for the first time. Service was great, food was great and view was great. The price is a little high for sushi but the food was well worth the price. What I liked the most is that you did not have to order just one type of sushi but could mix up the different types and try them all. I would definitely recommend the calamari, probably the best we have had. I would also recommend the Oburi Oshi Sushi, it was amazing. The service was wonderful and our server was very helpful with explaining the menu since it was our first time at the restaurant. I would definitely go again.

Service and knowledgeable of food offered in the menu are two of the most important things I look for when dining. Your service was great - waitress was attentive to our needs and she was very knowledgeable and recommended a few items. I have yet to test the knowledgeability of your waitresses when I bring my daughter later as she only takes gluten free food.

Initially, we thought the service was slow as we they didn't take our drink order. However, the restaurant made up for it quickly after that. We had ordered sushi with no wasabi as my girlfriend cannot eat any spicy food. When the sushi arrived it was awesome the first few of them. However, my girlfriend picked one and there was wasabi in the sushi. Her face was one of pain and she drank a lot of water to flush it down. The server immediately noticed the distress she was under and he came over to help. Shortly after that the executive chef came by to ask if she was okay and he gave her more water. After that he told us the sushi was taken off the bill. We were very impressed by the response to her extremely bad experience.

I had the salmon aburi and it is as tasty as advertized. The Coal Harbor sushi is interesting but not impressive. My husband had the bouillabaisse which is very good too. We sat at the patio which is very close to the water and has great views. Some find it windy and cold but we enjoyed the brisk breeze and they provide blankets. It is also much less noisy on the patio. I doubt that you can hear yourself inside.

We went here for our anniversary. The food was amazing. The only downsides were that our server wasn't totally on track with keeping our drinks paced with our meal. We didn't know when our food would start arriving as we did omakase. I thought we should have had time to drink out cocktail before the appies. Then when the mains started coming she wasn't around to get sake or wine going for a whole course. Additionally, there was a group next to us who were loud and obnoxious. I think they could have done a better job placing them near other groups when they knew we were two people out for our anniversary. The food was excellent and the server was very knowledgeable and helpful.

If you're staying anywhere near Canada Place in Vancouver, this is a not to be missed sushi restaurant. great view of the water and mountains. amazing sushi, very fresh, and unique combinations of ingredients. we had the seaweed salad and Ebi fritters. good compliments to each other. "Aburi Oshi" is their specialty. get it, you won't regret it. the salmon and ebi oshi were part of the Miku Signature Selection of sushi- also fantastic and great for two people. a good variety of nigiri and rolls....and of course the oshi.

Dined here for my spouse's 30th birthday and we had a great time. The sashimi were fresh and delicious. The 7 layer green tea matcha cake was amazing. We were offered a window seat (looking at the waters) if we wait a few minutes, which was absolutely alright. I called in a few days before and asked for the corkage fee for my bottle of Dom Perignon but the restaurant doesn't allow outside bottle of alcohol.

Once we located the entrance (on Howe St.) we were promptly seated amongst several tables of people in shorts/t-shirts, a screaming baby, and a swarm of flies fluttering overhead in the open air dining room. I was immediately regretting this choice for a nice date night out. The highly touted (by the waitress) aburi was all heavily slathered in sauces so much as to conceal most flavors of the actual fish. The chef's selection nigiri plate was fine enough, but included nothing special that could not be found at dozens of nearby sushi places. Maybe the target market for this place is cruise tourists seeking an exotic food menu, but if you prefer a fine dining or a more traditional sushi experience I advise you to avoid Miku.
