A word from Miku Restaurant
We specialize in Aburi, or flamed-seared sushi, which was developed nearly a century ago in Japan. The act of applying fire directly and lightly sear is known to enhance the natural flavors of the fish. Miku owner, Seigo Nakamura, innovated the Aburi concept by creating speciality sauces, using non-traditional Japanese ingredients, to complement the unique taste properties of each fish.

Miku Restaurant is within walking distance from the Pan Pacific Hotel, Canada Place, Trade & Exhibition Centre, IMAX Theatre, Cruise Ship Terminals and Sea Bus. If shopping downtown, join us for lunch and re-energize.

It's entrance is at the corner of Howe Street and Canada Place Way, overlooking the east cruiseship terminal at Canada Place.

**Please note: We do not take reservations for the patio as it is a first come, first serve basis. We also only will hold reservations for an additional 15 minutes.

Diner Reviews
  • "Really good sushi with excellent service. Also a good menu for other items if you do not want sushi. The waiter was very helpful"

  • "It was great! Lovely staff, fresh food, best desserts you can have ever. The view is also second to none. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants the best, most premium Japanese food, comparable to Japan. Whenever I come here, I always get treated like a king and their service is always unbelievable. Thank you again to the most wonderful staff, the most wonderful chefs, and the most wonderful owners, who have brought all of the traditional techniques and combined them with Westcoast flare."

  • "The sushi style - flamed - also involves involves a sauce applied to the fish -- which, unfortunately, masks any flavor the fish itself had. Other than that, Miku is quite enjoyable!"

  • "My only negative comment is that the noise level in this restaurant prevented normal conversation. Food was great, so if you don't care about talking to those you are eating with or hearing waitress descriptions of the dishes, go for it!"

  • "Maybe it's because I heard great things and I was expecting or maybe it was an off night for the restaurant. Pros: Hostess and waiter was very friendly Starter prawns were delicious Cons: Crying baby among other loud tables - couldn't hear what my girlfriend was saying Waiter was rarely seen - I think he had too many tables to serve Mediocre: Main dish"

  • "If you're staying anywhere near Canada Place in Vancouver, this is a not to be missed sushi restaurant. great view of the water and mountains. amazing sushi, very fresh, and unique combinations of ingredients. we had the seaweed salad and Ebi fritters. good compliments to each other. "Aburi Oshi" is their specialty. get it, you won't regret it. the salmon and ebi oshi were part of the Miku Signature Selection of sushi- also fantastic and great for two people. a good variety of nigiri and rolls....and of course the oshi."

  • "Dined here for my spouse's 30th birthday and we had a great time. The sashimi were fresh and delicious. The 7 layer green tea matcha cake was amazing. We were offered a window seat (looking at the waters) if we wait a few minutes, which was absolutely alright. I called in a few days before and asked for the corkage fee for my bottle of Dom Perignon but the restaurant doesn't allow outside bottle of alcohol."

  • "very nice and creative. yet a lot of mosquitoes and flies..."
    Dined on 7/15/2014
  • "Once we located the entrance (on Howe St.) we were promptly seated amongst several tables of people in shorts/t-shirts, a screaming baby, and a swarm of flies fluttering overhead in the open air dining room. I was immediately regretting this choice for a nice date night out. The highly touted (by the waitress) aburi was all heavily slathered in sauces so much as to conceal most flavors of the actual fish. The chef's selection nigiri plate was fine enough, but included nothing special that could not be found at dozens of nearby sushi places. Maybe the target market for this place is cruise tourists seeking an exotic food menu, but if you prefer a fine dining or a more traditional sushi experience I advise you to avoid Miku."

  • "Miku is a really special restaurant. There is not one thing that I could say 'no' to. The food was excellent, the service was excellent, the view was excellent. EVERYTHING WAS EXCELLENT. I just wish they could continue their good works and they'll be on the top. Thanks Miku ;)"

  • "Best Japanese meal of my life!! Casual, but elegant, food delicious, a bit of service mishaos but food prep and taste made us forget. Yummy"

  • "Even for Japanese, Miku's sushi taste was excellent."

  • "Overpriced for no better quality than the norm. The cost is for the location and the decor. Service was outstanding. Nothing inspired me to return."

  • "Food was generally good, though the seafood platter was disappointing for 78 dollars.. came with only 2 prawns, some oysters and clams and some pieces of sushi. Service could have been more attentive, often had empty drinks for quite some time before anyone noticed. OK, but expected more. Have had better experiences at Minami."

  • "Came in from the prairies for a quick visit, had one shot at sushi while we were in town, so glad we chose Miku. The room was extremely loud, but the rest of the dining experience completely made up for it."

  • "The aburi style sushi is amazing. My wife and I went here for our 25th anniversary and could not be more happy with the experience. The staff was incredibly friendly to boot."

  • "great spot to eat for dinner on a nice date. We pretty much tried everything on the menu but they're known for their "Aburia"-style sushi which was definitely great. They actually sear the sushi just a bit and use special sauces for each type of fish. I wouldn't recommend desert as they were sort of a bust but they also have a Sake Sommelier which was pretty helpful. We spoke with her about different types of sake and learned a lot while doing so."

  • "Recently, I made reservations for myself and a group of friends to celebrate a 30th Birthday at Miku. We were seated promptly at a fantastic table, the service was prompt and efficient, and the food was absolutely outstanding as usual. The one let-down was that when I made the reservations, I specifically requested a birthday dessert for the member of our party celebrating her birthday. Much to my surprise, no dessert ever arrived. Frankly, addressing the issue in front of the birthday girl would have been rather awkward so I just let it go. So while Miku has absolutely amazing food, their attention to special details was a bit lacking."

  • "Stunning sushi restaurant facing the Vancouver waterfront, featuring the aburi (seared) style of sushi. Fresh, flavourful, and innovative. The Salmon Oshi Sushi is a must."

  • "We had a fantastic time in the Canada day at lunch time. All foods are delicious, ever my two years old girl also enjoyed the sushi! Will go MIku offen with friends and families! Stronge recommend!"

  • "We chose Miku for our 18th Anniversary. It has become our go-to place for special occasions, when guests are in town or just... because we are walking by. On this night we just couldn't decide what to order so we asked the engaging, funny and 'present' waiter Curtis to just 'bring it'. We told him what we like and don't like, what we have always enjoyed (as creatures of habit) and he nailed it! That's a lot of pressure on a guy. He even chose a wine we loved. I'm not sure if this is just him or a function of the training at Miku or a combination of both. As people who eat out a lot in Vancouver it enhanced our experience and made me write a review. AND of course, the food and view are second to none."

  • "This is a must-visit for the special occasion or a group dining session! The portions may be small for the asking price, but the taste, appearance, and efficient service makes up for it. The location is absolutely outstanding, with a perfect view east of Canada Place overlooking North Vancouver if you dine on the balcony. The full service bar, where I sat, had an abundant selection of wines and cocktails, as well as at least 3 servers always there for both full service food and drink orders. For a busy dinner place, it did not take long for the sushi and shabu shabu to come out ready to eat. I highly recommend this place to both locals and visitors to our city, you won't be disappointed whether it's your 1st or 51st trip there!"

  • "Must orders: Tofu Salad, Salmon Oishi, Otoro (or if it's sold out, Chutoro is very good as well)"
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "Food are good as always. The serves are always friendly, especially on this occasion, he was exceptional. If I had 'won the fight' to pay the bill, I would have him more tips."

  • "Have not been in several months as the service, then, was totally disappointing. A friend, who had been out of town for some time, wanted to go...OK. The Snax are quit tasty, but for a place that seems to have too much staff, not a one of them, including 'Joe Cool' Manager, seems to have a clue about what service is, especially when the bill us about $100 per person. Too Bad - have to again forget about the place a classify it as overpriced, poor service, Tourist Trap."

  • "Loved the waiter's recommendation. All the sushi was very fresh and flavorful."

  • "Yes it is NOISY but the food was worth it! Best calamari I have ever had and the dishes going by were all SO beautiful. We were not expecting too much because of the busy tourist location but we thoroughly enjoyed the attentive service, fresh cold seafood and the wonderful Asian food…"

  • "The friendly and attentive service of all we encountered from the time we walked in the door makes this a repeat business lunch go to restaurant. The menu variety, unique choices and fresh fresh food was a delight-compliments to the chefs."

  • "Had an amazing anniversary dinner at Miku! Started with the Spicy Prawn & Pork Gyoza and Calamari, followed by the King Roll and the Miku Signature Selection. The aburi nigri in the latter was so amazing that we had to add an order of Salmon Oshi Sushi. Words cannot even describe the aburi, comparable to some of the best sushi that I've had from the Tsukiji Market in Tokyo. Everything was simple, but flavourful. To finish we had the Green Tea Opera and Citrus Ricotta Strudel, both delicious. They even wrote a nice "Happy Anniversary" out of chocolate! For drinks, the husband enjoyed his selection of sake and I enjoyed the Sake Spritz, which is saying a lot since sake isn't one of my favourites. Oh and great location/view!"

  • "I really loved Miku. It was my first time there but it made a deep impression. The decor and atmosphere were classy and enhanced by a nice view of the water at harbour front. The menu was creative but not overwhelming. Every dish sounded delicious. The food that I did order tasted amazing and was beautifully presented. The service was friendly and professional. Although a bit pricey, Miku is definitely worthy. This is the perfect place for a date or a special occasion."

  • "Food ranges from above average to phenomenal. I went once for lunch and once again another day for dinner. Lunch was outstanding. Dinner was very good, but not great. Aburi and sashimi were excellent. The rolls were only slightly above average. Decent service."

  • "We were 2 couples hoping for a fairly quiet table that got seated beside a large group of girls celebrating a birthday, so no ideal, but not that bad. I've eaten here before and been blown away by the food but this time, for some reason, it was just above average. Rolls were mushy, something was SUPER salty (so thirsty!) and sashimi was room temperature. Our out-of-town guests had a great view and service was very attentive."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "Amazing place, service and food were perfect and I will likely go here anytime I want Japanese food. Drinks and desert were also unusual and tasty. My only concern is the noise level as sounds more like a really rowdy bar then a sophisticated restaurant. I want a lively place on the weekend but as so loud I wouldn't go here for couples special events."

  • "It was a sunny Saturday evening and we made a last minute reservation at Miku hoping to sit on the patio which is first come first serve. We weren't able to sit outside but instead had a lovely table in the back with a water and Canada Place view which was just as nice. We were pleased with our drinks and even more impressed with the food! The service was OK but nothing special. We'll definitely return to Miku though. Great find!"

  • "This is the second time I have brought out of town guests to Miku and simply asked the waiter to bring us an interesting meal.We are asked if there's anything we don't eat, and he takes it from there. Course after course of spectacular food is brought, and everything is explained in detail as it is put before us. The bill at the end of this extravaganza is ridiculously modest for the quality of the meal. This is a really outstanding restaurant."

  • "The convergence of Asian cooking styles with those of the west such as French, has been wonderful. When done well, whether it's Chinese, Thai, etc. it is miraculous. This evolution has not touched Japanese food as widely. Miku is a restaurant that has blended East with West seamlessly. The focus on quality, presentation, simplicity, and blending of tastes, works well. Virtually every dish we tasted has a traditional element such as the way tempura and sushi are made; yet, the technique (like the batter) or spice (like cummin) used, is just enough that the result is different and better. Try the prawn tempura, or the signature sushi, and you will notice the difference. The service is also very good."

  • "Really, really good sushi-- different preparations than you'll find elsewhere without being gimmicky. The appetizers we shared were fairly pedestrian- nothing special. Service was friendly and good but loses a star for not keeping my water filled (had to ask-- twice!). Really expensive (thanks, employer!)"
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "The food is good. 70% worth the price tag. The resto smelled like gross cleaning solution when we first arrived. Like dirty mop water. Once the kitchen got really going tho the smell disappeared. But it was off putting at the start"

  • "Maybe it wasn't a good idea to have lunch at Miku during a regular work day. I ordered the Chirashi tart and my friend got the nigiri lunch set. The food was decent and nicely presented but I found it a bit too overpriced for lunch. We both had tea so it's an extra $3 each for both of us, and the total came to about $55 after tax and 15% gratuity. It was my first time having lunch at Miku and I am a bit disappointed. I have been to Miku few times for dinners and had better dining experience, so I will definitely not go back to Miku for lunch especially on a weekday."
