  • "Room & food are very theatrical but don't match each other. Room is very French Marie Antoinette. And the food is very japanese. if the food matched the room better, I would recommend to friends. Price is not an object but you can't ask for charge $95 for shrimp/avocado roll as main course with tuna carpaccio to start and chocolate souffle to finish."

  • "The Restaurant is stunning, with pieces of art all over that are mostly collected from France. The space is stunning. The staff there were all very attentive. Our server Kevin did a wonderful job explaining what each course was, and even delighted us with some chef compliments. They have unique cocktails that were delicious, and an extensive wine list. I appreciated that they had bottles ranging from $50- over $700. The food was exquisite, the preperation, the melding of the flavors with the french touch and asian accents was perfection. Before we left, a kind man there showed us the different pieces of art that the owner had collected. This entire restaurant is one you will rave about after visiting it. Its romantic, beautiful and unique."

  • "I love to dine, but Mihoko's 21 Grams is now #1 on my list. I do not even know where to start, everything was outstanding. The food was delicious and the service could not have been any better, in a few words: I HAD AN AMAZING NIGHT. It was my first time dining here, but I will be back for much more festivities and fun!"

  • "This is not a restaurant experience but a feast for all senses. With its lavish white leather furniture, Cartier mirrors, exquisite chandeliers this magnificent place amazes you every minute. The symphony of three course dinner comes served on tailor made dishes and cutlery. There is soft classical music in the background and a slide of paintings discretely filling out a white frame. Our favorite appetizers were the Burger 21 Grams and the delicately flavored Miso soup which comes in a surprise setting. The fluffy cod and tender meat were complimented artistically with stylish sauce and colorful side dishes . Tread carefully. You have entered the magic realm of Mihoko's soul."

The wait staff,Manager and the bartender everyone was top notch. Each course was exciting and fun. It deserves its 3 star rating and can hold its head high among with others. This was such a beautiful fun evening I can't think of anything that could have made it better!"

  • "Last week when I was in Spain , I had the opportunity to have dinner in "El Celler de Can Roca" Which is number 1 best restaurant in the world. BUT AFTER DINNING IN MIHOKO'S 21 GRAMS , I HAVE TO SAY THAT NYC IS GETTING THE BEST RESTAURANT IN THE WORLD IN 2014 AND THAT WILL BE MIHOKO'S 21 GRAMS. Great, great place. Food, service, Ambiance, location, everything is at its top, plus the price is so reasonable compared to the restaurants in the same level. It worth's every penny. Will go back for sure!"

  • "We went to Mihoko's 21 grams at 2 different occasions, 5 months apart and the food was consistently amazing. During the eight past years, we tried a lot of different restaurants in New York city and this is definitely one of the finest. I would not be surprised if the restaurant would eventually be a one star Michelin."

  • "Mihoko's 21 Grams has to be one of NYC's best hidden gems ! I dinned here with my boyfriend the last night and we couldn't have had a more romantic evening. The food was INCREDIBLE and the service was FANTASTIC ! Their 3 course prix-fixe for $85 is top notch ! I'm not sure where else you can find a better deal ! I had the Beets, followed by a delicious tender Beef entree, and ended it off with a chocolate souffle. And for drinks ? I couldn't get enough of the Champagne Noir. I must of have had about 4 glasses ! Mihoko's 21 grams is definitely the place to take your special someone or a group of friends. Im already planning my next visit to Mihoko's. Special thanks to the staff for making our dinner and evening one to remember !"

  • "This is my second time going to Mihoko's and both experiences were AMAZING. I just wanted to have a good meal, some sushi and some tasty cocktails. This time I ordered the sushi omakase and it was DELICIOUS!!! All the dishes were outstanding, with astonishing food presentation. I am in love with the yuzi dessert, it was euphoric. I must say, when dining here you should try it. The best part of the night was when the manager had recognized me and welcomed me back with a cocktail on the house. I had the Mangue Tropicale and it was top notch. Next time I dine here, I am going to try the sake and wine pairing because I am sure it will be exquisite like every other detail of this restaurant. Definitely an NYC GEM."

  • "AMAZING DINNER! I dined here the other night for my best friend's birthday and it was a memorable night. The decor is exquisite, I have never seen so much detail and fine art intertwined in such an elegant manner. For my three courses, I started off with the beet salad than had the lobster for my main dish and then, chocolate souffle. The birthday girl had the sushi omakase and a special birthday dessert, she was delighted. Their winter cocktail menu was top notch and the prices were not as expensive as other fine dining restaurants. The staff was very polite, well trained, and had extensive knowledge of the menu. If you haven't dined here yet, you're missing out on the BEST DINING EXPERIENCE IN NYC I will be coming back to try the new menu"

  • "Everything was delicious, just slightly off perfect. The seared foie gras was slightly overcooked. The duck was also slightly overcooked. But still delicious. Portions were on the small side. We definitely needed more bread to be filled. The truffle butter for the bread was a very nice touch."

  • "Great Toro cigar, wonderful beet salad, superb seared foie gras, and melt-in-your mouth sushi. That's the last course received. After 1 and 1/2 hours waiting for next course we couldn't take it any more. Totally inexplicable. Too bad. Restaurant is stylish and perfect for an elegant dining experience. I appreciated white tablecloth. Not sure if it was service or kitchen but we arrived at 6pm and then begging to leave at 9 pm didn't quite leave with a positive impression."

  • "The restaurant was nicely decorated, and hostess was very welcoming. Unfortunately, it appears management made a error of judgement in the selection of a difficult and extensive tasting menu for St Valentine's Evening. The place was woefully understaffed in both the kitchen and the wait staff. The food was excellent - however, this was delivered with long waiting periods between courses, and on one occasion in the wrong order. The wine pairing was also not delivered with the appropriate course. We experienced numerous walk-outs around us. And the night was topped off by the arrival of the NYPD after a bag was supposedly stolen during the evening. All in all a real shame. I am sure this restaurant can be amazing, but it let itself down"

  • "Worst dining experience of our lives - Valentine's day ruined! We were told that the kitchen was horrendously understaffed, which is why the wait staff were unable to handle the crowd. took ~6 hours to be served chef's tasting menu. The wait staff kept losing track of courses and drink orders, which only added to the frustration. And for the night cap? My wife's coat was actually stolen from the coat check room, and we had to file a police report with groups of others that had a similar experience. It's a real shame because a few of the plates were actually top notch, but we'll never come back or recommend this place to anyone we know..."

  • "We got the valentines menu and the wine pairing for two. The valentines menu wasn't as good as the regular menu, but the food was still good, and the service was outstanding where the waiter would come and explain each dish and each wine until somewhere between our 3rd and 4th course where we were left waiting for 1.5 HOURS between courses. The place looked like it got a lot busier at the time so I guess maybe that had something to do with it, but at the very least someone should have came by and told us something. We were told nothing, and nobody came by to apologize (during the wait, nor after). The waiter was lucky that my gf and I were patient and enjoyed each other's company until he got it together."

  • "The restaurant did everything it could to ruin Valentines Day. When we arrived, the hostess was rude. After being seated, it was impossible to get a waiters attention to place a drinks order. Finally, after 20 minutes we order a cocktail, though for the next 30 minutes we don't receive one of the drinks despite multiple requests. After being seated for 50 minutes we receive the missing cocktail and the first course of our 6 course tasting menu. The tuna cigars was fishy & inedible. I asked to speak to the manager but he never came over. They sold out of sparking wine on valentines day. Finally, 30 minutes and no food later, we got our coats and left the restaurant along with four other tables who all walked out. Overpriced and terrible."

  • "This restaurant was one of the highest rated restaurants on Opentable's list for great food and ambience. Based on opentable's recommendation, we chose this to go to this restaurant during our recent trip to NYC. The food was not only overrated, but laughable for its price. The wagyu beef is worse than the typical diner's steak. Service was worse than Stardust diner that we went to following morning. The waiter must had memorized his lines well, because that's all he was able to offer, nothing more, offering poor recommendations when it came to food or anything else. I would avoid this restaurant at all cost. At more than $350 for two, your money is better spent somewhere else."

  • "21 grams is hard to describe. From the moment my date and I walked in, we were pampered and delighted by Mihoku's wonderful staff. One thing no rating can capture is how friendly and nice every single person was. The food was great - creative, delicious, and the timing of courses was perfect. The restaurant is beautifully designed as well. The best way I can sum this up is that my date and I were actively planning to come back before we left."

  • "I chose Mihoko’s to celebrate my 36 birthday and it was a memorable experience; perfectly suited for my birthday. The staff was very attentive from the time we walked in to the time we walked out of the restaurant. The place is well decorated, beautiful table settings, and the food was unique. We enjoyed the delicious four course dinner, especially the amuse la bouche (chestnut cappuccino) and tasty lamb. Let’s not forget the outstanding cocktails. Everyone from the staff wished me a happy birthday. Once again the staff was great; best part of our experience. The great attention to detail and impeccable service makes it one of our best dining experiences in NYC thus far. I highly recommend this restaurant and hoping to return soon!"

  • "We came to 21 Grams for Thanksgiving dinner and we shall return for other celebration dinners in the future. The menu is so creative and the fusion is perfection. The flavor balance is delicate and precise. Don't miss a pre-dinner cocktail, we shared a "Vogue" which was smoky and delicious and since the staff knew we planned to share the drink it was served in two glasses. Such a lovely touch of class. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable. The ambiance maintains a sophisticated edge while being at once amusing and quirky. We had a really good time, never rushed. Worth the money."

  • "I decided to make a reservation after hearing rave reviews from a friend. My date was a special one, and I was seeking somewhat of an unforgettable experience. With the design alone, Mihoko's dining room was attention grabbing from the very beginning. We were greeted by an extremely warm maitre d', whose name we found out was Carlos. Upon entering the dining room we were both taken back by walls adorned in stunning 19th century art. We felt as though we had been transported to a royal banquet. Memorable dishes: *Shrimp uni avocado ceviche roll *Octopus Cappuccino *Duck d'Automne *Sake Souffle Each dish was presented in exquisite detail. Thanks to a wonderful experience, date # 2 is booked, and I'll certainly be back."

  • "Everything at this establishment is designed to make the evening here a long one. Each menu item needs to be explained by the server as the titles are unclear. This incredibly slows the ordering process. The nature of the food then means that each dish is made to order which is generally a good thing but it is slow. The food was fabulous and the service superb but 3.5 hours for a dinner is far too long. I will not return."

  • "My fiancé and I went to Mimoko's for her birthday. The dining room is beautiful and the food is amazing. However, to me, the best part of our experience was the staff. We showed up a little late for our reservation, but they were totally understanding. There was an event that we had to be at after dinner, and the staff did all that they could to provide us with an amazing, multi-course meal and yet get us to our next destination on time. I highly recommend the restaurant for a classy, but quieter romantic evening, or small group special occasion dinner."

  • "From cocktails to chocolate truffles, this restaurant is over the top in ambience, service and food, both delicious and beautifully plated. The most intimate dinner I have ever had in a public place. The amuse bouche, a "chestnut cappuccino", was extraordinary as was most of the food. Very pricey but worth every penny for a special occassion."

  • "A gorgeous restaurant with crystal chandeliers and candles.went on a Wednesday night and it was pretty empty. The food is Japanese French. It was as beautiful as it was weird. Had Waygu beef sushi -- 3 perfectly small squares of sushi rice with steak tartar on top. Everything was as creative as it was delicious. Piece de resistance? Balloon Opera Cake -- a beautiful slice of layer cake enclosed in a crystal bubble! You break open the spun sugar and eat the cake -- sublime. But very costly. Only a four course meal for $95 or a 7 course dinner for close to $200! Would go back for a special occasion"

  • "i was very disapointed about the restaurant. the food was good and the ambience was beautifall but the service was terrible and more terrible if you think that we paid 300 dollars for person. we had to ask to fill the wine every moment becaude no one did it...they alway got the wrong plates in the table, i received the dessert before the steak for an error and then i received also after dinner and the air conditioned was too high we were freezing but no one helped to switch it of . we asked severel times but no one cared ...we had to have dinner with our jacket on and the day after two of us had fever. i will never never come back again and never suggest this place to any one ."

  • "If you are looking for a unique one-of-a-kind leisurely fine dining experience, this is your place. The ambience is chic and nouveau and the food is outstanding. They only offer a prix fixe menu so be prepared for that and while they say you will get 4 courses with the special between course refreshers, it is more like 8 courses. They top it off with elegantly served cotton candy at the end of the night. Our meal took 4 hours though so we were all pretty tired by the end of the night and that was diminished the experience. If we could have finished in 2.5 or 3 hours, I think we would have all said it was one of the best meals we have had in New York City."

  • "We had Omakase meal w/ wine/sake pairing & 4 course Prix-fixe. W/2 cocktails it was over $500 meal. We went for our anniversary dinner but I was disappointed with the service, food quality and the pacing of the meal. The food there has the potential, but they fail in the execution. Pacing was efficient in the beginning, but service fell apart as more customers came. We arrived at 7:15pm and when we left it was 11:15pm. Why are there 2 soups in Omakase? Eliminate Granite (small sorbet) from 7 courses. Sake=didn't like; Wines=good. They skipped the wine with the Wagyu Beef course – they lost track of their service. Favorite:Spicy Tuna Sandwich. Sticky chewy rice made it awesome. If you drive and park your car in front, no parking from 10pm."

We enjoyed the four course dinner while adding 1 custom course ; a beautiful sushimi plate. Everything was outstanding. The service was attentive although we waited a long time for our main course to arrive, All in all this was a 3 hour dining experience that we would recommend highly!"

  • "From the moment that you first see the dining room, with it's elegant and dramatic décor, to the end of the meal that you will be having, this is one of the BEST dining experiences in New York City. The food and the service are both above average, bordering on "heavenly", and while yes, it is an expensive night out, it is also an amazing experience, and one that anyone who enjoys fine dining should have....."

  • "Great food, creative and innovative japanese and french fusion. Attention, they do not serve à la carte, only omakase at 150 or 4 courses menu at 95, which is not a bargain considering the portions are on the small side. they are not flexible on the menu and will not accomodate fewer courses. overall great food experience."
    Dined on 10/26/2013
  • "Let's see...Though visually beautiful, this restaurant cannot figure out it's identity. After waiting for 10 minutes to get the waiter's attention, We had 3 ituations in one night with a bait and switch on wine, mis-delivered cocktails, and being summarily ignored though the restaurant only had 4 tables occupied. The food is fussy, tasteless and unappealing. Nothing other than the interior is remotely appealing and it was categorically one of the worst dining experiences I have had in NY in a long time. The only way it could have received such high reviews is if the owner paid someone to write them. A trainwreck of the highest order."
