Mihoko's 21 GramsWhat a hidden gem of a place!!!!If you come here, prepared yourself to be pampered by probably the best culinary experience in New York City. I have been at the best restaurants in New York, Paris and Tokyo and despite the numbers of Michelin stars at the others restaurant I have dined before, the culinary experience here, emphasis on delicious and inventive cuisine, topped with the sophistication and elegance of this place, really tops many of other renowned places that are well known in the restaurant business. My wife and I have the 4 courses menu with each dish been better than the one before. When the check arrived the tab was about 30% less than at others places on the same level; yet flavors here and ambience were 100% than in the other places. Don't miss it!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGorgeous, under the radar gemWe recently had the opportunity to get to NYC on short notice for a quick weekend without the kids. My husband and I wanted to take advantage of it and book a special dinner on a Saturday night. The big name places were booked up and it was left to me to find a place that matched my criteria for our night out - high end dining, worthy of a special occasion, fantastic food, exceptional service.
After a significant amount of research, I chose Mihoko's. It did not disappoint.
It's amazing to me that such a place isn't on more top 20 lists. It really was an exceptional dining experience.
The food was fabulous and inventive. Everything was beautifully presented with care and attentive service. It was a wonderful evening.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent decor, great serviceExcellent decor, great service although the waiters are not perfectly prepared to respond to questions about the menu. Great food with outstanding preparation.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best in the city. HopeThe best in the city. Hope no one finds out. 2 nd visit was better
Than the 1st and the 1st was incredible... a must try..4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThis relatively new restaurantThis relatively new restaurant has set its sights on high-end diners, but it has a ways to go before it can compete effectively in that space. It has a fanciful and elegant interior, with lots of space. The service is awesome, but that might have been because there were so few diners on hand. The food needs work to be worth the prices. Each dish (except the chocolate souffle which was 100% wonderful) had great elements (wonderful foie gras) and disappointing elements (a piece of sweetbread with nothing to say for itself). It feels as if they have imaginative but are unwilling to really take risks.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMHow on earth has mainstreamHow on earth has mainstream media not picked up on this spot yet? Let me be honest: there are a thousand new restaurants in NYC that open each year claiming to be new, fresh and my favorite: innovative.... In reality, they're usually just new names on ordinary dining spots. Finally finally FINALLY something truly unique and equally extraordinary has come along. This Japanese-French fusion of gustatory delight blew me away. Yes, it is pricey....but since eating at the likes of Le Bernardien and Daniel, I have not experienced such true culinary genius with this caliber of service until now. Cannot wait to go back - money well spent.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMTwo professors21 Grams was brilliant. We had the seven course degustation menu with matching wine. The chef stunned us with each course. The sommelier kept producing the perfect wine match moving seamlessly between new world and French wines and Japanese saki. Although my wife and i had the same degustation menu the somelier produced a different wine for each of us so we were able to try twice as many wines. some came from deep in an excellent wine cellar. We have been to Noma in Copenhagen and Wakughin in Singapore. 21 Grams is up there with the best. A wonderful find and a must try if you are in New York.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's really a beautiful, stylishIt's really a beautiful, stylish restaurant backed by solid food. Just this time, my omakase menu had two overlapping dishes and the entire course seemed a bit skimpy and not really that creative. Least satisfying meal so far at Mihoko's.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
