Diner Reviews
  • "Loved the scallops, and the braised pork shoulder entrees"

  • "TOO Salty. The menu on Open Table does not match what Miel is actually serving. The olives and Beet salad was very good. Other than that BAD BAD BAD"

  • "Had dinner again at Miel this weekend. Had not been in several months as there have been so many new restaurant openings to try in Nashville. Miel was SUPERB! Our service was very attentive and knowledgeable, yet warm and friendly at the same time. That set the stage for the DELICIOUS food! They have hand-foraged morels right now, served with a poached egg and toast that are divine. The sunchoke soup and the citrus salad made it all perfect. This was the best and most inventive meal I have had in the last six months in Nashville. The only thing that comes close is perhaps Josephine's but it is impossible to get a reservation there so I would recommend Miel!"

  • "I have never eaten a better trout dish than I enjoyed at Miel. The Sunchoke soup tasted delicious--unfortunately, the temperature varied from lukewarm for one to perfect temp for another. Scallops were served lukewarm as well and were cold before the guest could finish. There was no way to have a conversation at our table of four. Concrete walls do not absorb sound, and the noise level was off the charts. Everyone else was talking to try to get above the den and be heard, thus creating an even higher noise level. Attention to acoustics would make such a difference. Nice size restaurant, but the lack of serving food at pleasing temperatures along with the very loud atmosphere make it less than desirable as a repeat."

  • "My wife and I had wanted to try Miel for some time. I wish that we had not waited so long! We had a lovely dinner accompanied by a delicious French red wine. The food was well-prepared and the service was friendly. The wine list is great, and if you purchase a bottle you can take it with you. Also, the corkage fee is reasonable, so consider bringing your own. A great find!"

  • "Miel continues to be one of Nashville's dining gems. The food and service are always great, and the atmosphere is vibrant but not too noisy. I have been to Miel twice in the last several weeks and will return soon."

  • "Everything was perfect about my most recent trip to Miel, and each time I've gone there I'm reminded why it's at the top of my list for adding that "special" feel to going out for dinner. Their chefs are amazing, and I've never had a dish there that was less than stunningly good. This time I enjoyed the kale/pork belly salad and the scallops, and both were absolutely incredible! I can't say enough about this place. It's utter perfection."

  • "A friend in Nashville suggested this place which was a $15 can ride from downtown but well worth it. Small restaurant with very thoughtful and creative menu. Friends from DC, Boston, LA, and NYC all loved our choices. Fish dish might be best ever."

  • "The entire dining experience was ruined by a boisterous table of 8. We requested to be moved and were put in a front side area next to the kitchen and seated next to a couple who had also requested to be moved because the diners at the table next to them were loud and using foul x-rated language. In both cases the host did nothing about the diners who were ruining the atmosphere and moved those of us who had done nothing into a very unbecoming section of the restaurant. If Miel desires to be a unique dining experience they must become brave enough to address bad situations appropriately. Otherwise they should bill themselves as just another Longhorn. And it will truly be a shame if they don't address this as the food is excellent."

  • "We had a friend in from NYC and wanted to get dinner. Luckily all of the Nashville hot spots did not have a table when we needed it. We on to Open Table and saw Miel and fondly remembered our last visit so I booked it. To quote my friend it was the best meal she had. Now, this is coming from a woman who eats out at the finest restaurants. There wasn't anything that was not exceptional from owner Simi greeting us at the door to the incredibly exciting food and the helpful service. We even lingered over a few pots of coffee and dessert. I would go into favorites on the menu but we all thought ours was the best. DO NOT MISS MIEL!!"

  • "Great food. However we didn't get seated until 8:20 for our 7:45 reservation for a party of 8. On top of that our server was less than pleasant. It's a shame they can't get their act together because the food was very good."

  • "My 95 year-old mother is hard to please when it comes to restaurants. She loved Miel. The music was low enough for her to hear. The wine and cheese plate passed the test and she loved her pork entree. Having lived through the depression, Mother is always critical of a "costly" meal. This was the exception. The food was so perfectly prepared and presented that cost truly did not matter!"

  • "Very friendly yet professional too. Excellent food. Duck breast cooked perfectly. Grilled octopus likewise. Lovely evening from warm greeting at the door to articulate waiter to friendly send off. Will make Miel a regular stop."

  • "I just discovered the bar Miel, a quaint little spot to have a glass of wine in the neighborhood without having to listen to blare of TVs or music. It's my favorite new place to meet friends after work. Went back for dinner a few nights later, and my date and I were both swooning over our meals. Seema makes everyone feel so welcomed into her space. Miel is a delight on all levels."

  • "I'm 6'3",210 lbs. My wife is 5'4" 115 lbs. There was enough food for her, but I could have gone for a second meal after eating there. Very small portions, which is probably a good thing for most people, but you may not want to dine there if you are a big eater. We ordered a shrimp appetizer for $13 - 5 freakin' shrimp. I will say that the food tasted very good, so again if you are a foodie type, you may enjoy this restaurant."

  • "Love the Happy Hour Special Drink for $5. The duck was amazing!"
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "Although the food was prepared correctly and very tasty, everyone in our party left hungry after salads, appetizers and main courses. Not only were portion sizes minuscule, the price of the entrees were very high compared to other restaurants. For example, the scallop entree was $29 per plate and only had 3 smaller sized sea scallops. The food is good, but certainly not worth going back for based on tiny portion size and price."

  • "This was our first time to Miel after hearing a lot of buzz about it. We were seated near the open kitchen which was pretty loud. The drinks were good and so was the shrimp appetizer. I ordered the pork which tasted like cured ham. Way too salty I couldn't even eat it. I told the waiter and nothing was offered to rectify the meal. My wife had the scallops with gnocchi which was very good. Disappointed in the food and lack of attention when I clearly did not like my meal And the bill was not cheap!"

  • "The chef had previously been at F.Scotts and Table 3 but IMO this is his best effort. Food was just plain outstanding. I had the duck breast and my wife has the poisson(chicken) both of which were perfect. Also I had the quail appetizer, my wife the crudo hamachi and again both very very good. Wine list ok but corkage only $20 so we brought our own pinot noir which went with the entrees very well. My only complaint is the row of two top tables are spaced a little close together so it almost feels like community dining. I think they could lose one or two of the tables and vastly improve the spacing and as a result the ambience."

  • "There's a lot of noise about Nashville restaurants of late, and most of it is no more than noise. But Miel isn't just great food, it's also a pleasurable experience. You have the sense from the moment you walk in that you are being treated as a special guest. They're thrilled you're there and want to give you a meal to remember. They succeeded on Valentine's Day, giving us a luscious three course meal. My rockfish with bits of lobster in a butter sauce was particularly heavenly and perfectly cooked. My husband loved the poussin with blue cheese polenta. We could hear each other speak. The waiter was wonderfully attentive. We'll be back soon."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Service was a bit slow; waitress had limited knowledge of menu items and had difficulty making a wine suggestion. I found the duck breast delicious...my date described the rock fish as "good but not great." Over all, however, a positive experience. I would recommend it to a friend."

  • "Went for valentines. Food was excellent, a little unusual but nothing too far out. Had the snail ravioli, poussin, and tart. Girlfriend had the salad, steak, and mousse. Mousse was one of the best desserts I've had in a long time."

  • "We went for the prixe fixe Valentine's Day special. (Not to be missed next year!) Food was outstanding! But not in 30 years have I tasted a chocolate mousse that compared with the one at Madeleine 7 near the Opera in Paris. This mousse was just outstanding!"
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "We had a lovely Valentine's meal at Miel -- the first courses were interesting and delicious (snail ravioli, outstanding, light, flavorful; the fried quail just good) and the main courses perfectly prepared and presented -- NY strip with marrow toast, and the fish was outstanding. The restaurant itself is lovely, a muted, elegant feel without being stuffy. Our only complaint, and a minor one, was a less than attentive server. Perhaps he had too many tables, or was not quite broken in. We found ourselves waiting for him more than we should have -- but like I said, it's a minor complaint for an otherwise lovely evening out."

  • "My husband and I went to MIel while visiting Nashville for work. I heard about it from a comment by a reader sent in to Southern Living magazine. The person described it as a local secret and I can see why. We never would have thought to look for MIel where it's located. We are so glad we did though! The food was fantastic and our craft cocktails were delicious too. Our server was training someone that night so it delayed things a bit is all."

  • "We discovered Miel when it first opened. We loved Miel the first time and it has never let us down in our numerous return trips. We have taken out of town guests on several occasions and their assessment of Miel was the same as ours."

  • "I wish that this neighborhood gem was in my neighborhood but, were that the case, it would be impossible to get a table. Excellent food, service, ambiance. A short but thoughtful wine list."

  • "Nice ambience, great service. My pork shoulder was so tender and flavorful, and my wife enjoyed her trout. Not much appealed to us in the way of starters, but we did like the warm olives. For dessert, we had a yummy pumpkin-ginger cake, perfectly accompanied by a glass of port. Would give it 4.5 stars if I could, and will look forward to returning."

  • "We decided to give Miel a try for their NYE prefix menu. Once we arrived we were seated at a tight table next to a concrete wall. We requested another table and the hostess looked extremely irritated and rudely asked us to wait up front. Not surprising she was able to accommodate us. Once we were assigned a waiter we were extremely underwhelmed with our service. The waiter knew absolutely nothing about them menu and seemed irritated with my simple questions I asked. We basically ordered our bottle of wine as our entrees came out due to the waiter avoiding coming back to our table for service. We did enjoy our entree and deserts. We both agreed the 1st course was just okay."

  • "We were passing through and decided to make a reservation at this restaurant. The overall dining experience was excellent. The drinks - (we had old fashioned to start with) were super welll made. The meal was fantastic. Duck, beef, oysters. Amazing. Wish we had something like this near home."

  • "My boyfriend and I are both foodies, so I treated him to dinner at Miel for his Christmas present. We loved it! The New Year's Eve special was great: $39/person for three courses. We weren't as impressed with dessert. I had a dark chocolate whoopee pie that was tooth-achingly sweet and he had champagne cake that was lighter. The entrees were spectacular though. I definitely recommend Miel for a date night or special occasion. Service was great, very friendly and knowledgeable. It was a little loud, but that doesn't bother me. It was New Year's Eve, after all."
