Diner Reviews
  • "We found this restaurant by searching Zagat, because we didn't know where to eat in Nashville. I'd never have searched in this neighborhood, but it was worth it. My trout was excellent. Crispy on the one side and juicy on the other. The match with the orange butter was very tasty. My husband ordered the short rib and it was very good, too. The music was nice and the service very friendly. So all in all: it was a very nice dinner experience"

  • "I took my adult son for special dinner on Tuesday night. The meal was memorable, quail and pork shoulder with gnocchi. Both entrees melted in our mouths! Highly recommend for delicious dinner that would be hard to pull off at home."

  • "In Nashville for one night, we found a gem in Miel. Plentiful parking, friendly reception, the best Negroni I've had, short rib greens and pork gnocchi plates delicious- chocolate mousse and coffee bean florentine sublime - we'll be back!"

  • "Had one of the best meals I can remember anywhere - smoked quail, seafood terrine- everything was perfect."

  • "The slow service combined with the fact there was only one server in our area caused us to get up and leave and go to a different restaurant where we knew we would get timely service and our food would be served in a timely manner. Wanted to like Miel, have been there twice before, just can't bring myself to like it."

  • "I went to Miel for the 1st time w/friends who had been many times before & had mixed reviews between them. We'd heard there was a newer chef,so had hopes of redemption (we even have 1 friend who says he'll never go back) That said-with a party of 8, ALL of us LOVED our meal on Sat. night.I managed restaurants in SanFrancisco and just moved to Nashville.I am picky about not just food, but service & all details. My only wishes for improvement are so slight they shouldn't dissuade anyone from trying Miel.I would have liked the water cooler & the bread warmer (or at least just warm). My trout entree was as good as any entree I have had anywhere, I loved every morsel of it.Our server could have been more gracious, front door greeting was very warm"

  • "Seema Prasad's Miel has hit a new gear--again--elevating simple and beautiful ingredients onto perfectly proportioned plates. Our party of four had halibut, trout, pork shoulder, and a risotto, and all we did was rave all night. Our beet salad was tiny, sweet, and perfect, the cheese plate (thank you Bloomy Rind!) beautiful and varied, and the cocktail/wine list just so. Seema knows and cares for her all customers, so every visit feels like returning home. Kudos also to chef Will Uhlhorn, whose cooking is so fine this Orioles fan forgives his ubiquitous Red Sox cap. Can't get back soon enough."

  • "Finally booked Miel for a Wednesday night birthday dinner after wanting to try this place for some time. We found the decor and ambiance of Miel pleasing, were promptly seated by a smiling hostess. Cocktails were ordered, and btw, great bourbon selection, I tried the Elijah Craigh 12 y/o. The description of Miel is a French restaurant, however, I didn't see any classic French entrees or apps on the menu. We opted for halibut and trout after a beet and cheese salad and the red crunch salad with anchovies that was excellent. Both entrees were good with a nice chard. Dessert was ordered with French press coffee, we chose panna cotta and a chocolate mousse terrine which was very good. Limited menu, good service, well prepared food would return"

  • "I was with business associate but definitely noted the romantic feel of the space. So nice to be somewhere that encourages you to take your time and savor the atmosphere as well as the food, which, by the way, was delicious."

  • "We made our reservation, four Miel very easy to find and park. Food was excellent. Our server was friendly and helpful. He was available but did not hover. Wine was a perfect addition. My husband enjoyed coffee with our delicious dessert. We will certainly be back. "

  • "The food was fine but certainly unremarkable. The service was just barely good enough off to not be labeled poor, but "indifferent" would certainly be appropriate. There are many, many restaurants for the money im Nashville that far exceed Miel."

  • "My wife and I chose Miel for our anniversary dinner. We were disappointed. The main courses were over-salted, probably in an effort to add flavor, but it really wasn't necessary. In fact, it was salty to the point of nauseating. The appetizers were better than the main course, and the drinks were good. My recommendation would be to go for a glass of wine or cocktail + appetizers, and skip the main course. "

  • "My ratings are in the medium range because we didn't get to eat. We had scoured the menu online and were getting excited. When we got to the restaurant, ordered our drinks and wine, we scoured the current menu and just as we were about to order the power went off. We begged some bread while we waited but the power never came on. The whole neighborhood was out. We had to leave go to an inferior chain restaurant. Will try again when in Nashville. "

  • "Miel has a low key ambiance that emphasizes the fresh food and excellent service. If it had been proper I would have licked the plate. I don't often eat everything that is on the plate; at Miel I did. The spoon of honey at the end is a sweet reminder of the wonderful meal."

  • "Simply prepared but exciting dishes served in an unpretentious manner in a cosy setting. Love the beet salad and the scallops but honestly like everything at Miel!"

  • "Our meal was fantastic (trout, scallops, 2 salads, 2 desserts); however, it is disappointing to pay over $20 for an entree and still leave hungry! Awesome ambiance though - great spot for Sylvan Park."

  • "My husband and I have been trying out a lot of the newer "foodie" restaurants these days, and Miel is definitely our favorite so far. Silo, The Farm House, etc. are just loud and pretentious places for people to be seen while they eat not as good Southern food as the real thing under the guise of the "farm-to-table" trend. Miel is the real deal. Wonderful service, quiet, romantic, and absolutely delicious halibut with carrot mascarpone. Super cute touch to have a taste of local honey at the end of the meal as well. We will actually go back to this one!"

  • "Loved the scallops, and the braised pork shoulder entrees"

  • "TOO Salty. The menu on Open Table does not match what Miel is actually serving. The olives and Beet salad was very good. Other than that BAD BAD BAD"

  • "Had dinner again at Miel this weekend. Had not been in several months as there have been so many new restaurant openings to try in Nashville. Miel was SUPERB! Our service was very attentive and knowledgeable, yet warm and friendly at the same time. That set the stage for the DELICIOUS food! They have hand-foraged morels right now, served with a poached egg and toast that are divine. The sunchoke soup and the citrus salad made it all perfect. This was the best and most inventive meal I have had in the last six months in Nashville. The only thing that comes close is perhaps Josephine's but it is impossible to get a reservation there so I would recommend Miel!"

  • "I have never eaten a better trout dish than I enjoyed at Miel. The Sunchoke soup tasted delicious--unfortunately, the temperature varied from lukewarm for one to perfect temp for another. Scallops were served lukewarm as well and were cold before the guest could finish. There was no way to have a conversation at our table of four. Concrete walls do not absorb sound, and the noise level was off the charts. Everyone else was talking to try to get above the den and be heard, thus creating an even higher noise level. Attention to acoustics would make such a difference. Nice size restaurant, but the lack of serving food at pleasing temperatures along with the very loud atmosphere make it less than desirable as a repeat."

  • "My wife and I had wanted to try Miel for some time. I wish that we had not waited so long! We had a lovely dinner accompanied by a delicious French red wine. The food was well-prepared and the service was friendly. The wine list is great, and if you purchase a bottle you can take it with you. Also, the corkage fee is reasonable, so consider bringing your own. A great find!"

  • "Miel continues to be one of Nashville's dining gems. The food and service are always great, and the atmosphere is vibrant but not too noisy. I have been to Miel twice in the last several weeks and will return soon."

  • "Everything was perfect about my most recent trip to Miel, and each time I've gone there I'm reminded why it's at the top of my list for adding that "special" feel to going out for dinner. Their chefs are amazing, and I've never had a dish there that was less than stunningly good. This time I enjoyed the kale/pork belly salad and the scallops, and both were absolutely incredible! I can't say enough about this place. It's utter perfection."

  • "A friend in Nashville suggested this place which was a $15 can ride from downtown but well worth it. Small restaurant with very thoughtful and creative menu. Friends from DC, Boston, LA, and NYC all loved our choices. Fish dish might be best ever."

  • "The entire dining experience was ruined by a boisterous table of 8. We requested to be moved and were put in a front side area next to the kitchen and seated next to a couple who had also requested to be moved because the diners at the table next to them were loud and using foul x-rated language. In both cases the host did nothing about the diners who were ruining the atmosphere and moved those of us who had done nothing into a very unbecoming section of the restaurant. If Miel desires to be a unique dining experience they must become brave enough to address bad situations appropriately. Otherwise they should bill themselves as just another Longhorn. And it will truly be a shame if they don't address this as the food is excellent."

  • "We had a friend in from NYC and wanted to get dinner. Luckily all of the Nashville hot spots did not have a table when we needed it. We on to Open Table and saw Miel and fondly remembered our last visit so I booked it. To quote my friend it was the best meal she had. Now, this is coming from a woman who eats out at the finest restaurants. There wasn't anything that was not exceptional from owner Simi greeting us at the door to the incredibly exciting food and the helpful service. We even lingered over a few pots of coffee and dessert. I would go into favorites on the menu but we all thought ours was the best. DO NOT MISS MIEL!!"

  • "Great food. However we didn't get seated until 8:20 for our 7:45 reservation for a party of 8. On top of that our server was less than pleasant. It's a shame they can't get their act together because the food was very good."

  • "My 95 year-old mother is hard to please when it comes to restaurants. She loved Miel. The music was low enough for her to hear. The wine and cheese plate passed the test and she loved her pork entree. Having lived through the depression, Mother is always critical of a "costly" meal. This was the exception. The food was so perfectly prepared and presented that cost truly did not matter!"
