Diner Reviews
  • "I'd been wanting to try Miel ever since it opened, so I finally went for my 30th birthday dinner. I was not disappointed. The service was impeccable, attentive and gracious, and the food and wine were top of the line. We were more than taken care of, and our server was knowledgeable and just absolutely wonderful. The olive oil tasting was interesting and delicious, and ALL of the food was phenomenal (and we ordered a pretty wide sampling from the limited but tantalizing menu.) Every single thing was delicious, and ALL of the various steaks were perfectly cooked! The wine list was comprehensive and reasonably priced. Miel is hands-down the best French dining experience I have had in Boston. Go. Because I know I'll be returning."

  • "We went there for brunch because it said online that they do a nice brunch. When we arrived at noon on a Sunday there didn't appear to be any kind of brunch. We were handed a menu with approximately 5 breakfast items, 4 salads, and some entree type items. Unless you ordered several entrees you only got the one thing you ordered. To me a brunch usually means you pay a set price and can select from lots of things and get a little of this and a little of that to eat. The food was good but not over the top wonderful. Maybe I just couldn't get over the fact that I went for brunch and ended up just ordering breakfast. It felt like a bit of a bait and switch. I would not go back. I would not go back."

  • "I might have had very high expectation for Miel and I went to try it during restaurant week. The truth is I was disappointed. The food was OK but not great, as I expected and the service was very slow. Our empty plates stood in front of us for at least 20min. I'm glad I tried it for restaurant week as it would not be worth the full price. Also, my boyfriend was very disappointed as he hates berries and even his chocolate lava cake had berries on top.."

  • "There are two choices? I guess I remember which are lobster and shrimp, of course with vegetables. I loved it. I also ordered salmon eggs benedict which was sooo great. one of my best egg benedict ever! Also, the interior design was so adorable with classic design, chandelier, etc..."

  • "We came for restaurant week for lunch, the food was delicious - very interesting options. The fresh bread was warm and delicious. The service was on the slower side, and we were left waiting quite a while for our meal - but the servers were very friendly and helpful nonetheless. I would definitely come back again."

  • "I went to Miel for dinner on March 20, 2014, and I had a fabulous experience. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for good eats at a fancy restaurant."

  • "Ground floor views are lovely. Decor is contrived Faxu French Provincial; hokey for a place of this caliber in a sleek modern hotel. Oh well, it needs a theme and this is its theme! Service is very good and friendly but at price point improvements needed: (1) Don't make patrons have to ask for the Dine Out Boston menu; offer or bring it immediately. (2) Don't have two people stop by twice each (=four interruptions) to ask how everything is = don't love me that much while I'm eating and conversing. These are simply small points to be smoothed out for the price point & why I held back one star overall.. Food quality, prep, and presentation are five star. Dine Out menu the best I've had anyplace. Regular menu dishes seemed great. I'll return."

  • "Four of us orderded from the fixed menu. I got fig stuffed gnocchi with goat cheese that was very good. Not a large portion but very filling. The goat cheese was pretty strong so just a warning if you're not a fan. Had the cranberry creme brulee for dessert which was super creamy and had whole cranberries inside which was a surprise but a nice one. Super tasty. I would recommend Miel, especially during Restaurant Week when you can try it out and not break the bank."

  • "We've eaten many times and Miel, and we always enjoy the excellent service, the lovely room, and the reliably good food. It's among our favorites."

  • "The room was mostly empty on a tue night We were able to isolate ourself for an intimate dinner they came to check on us too often before and during dinner but they didnt get the water order right Miscommunicated the apetizer delivery food was edgy and good beware george scallops is just 4 scallops, no garnish The trufle fries were barely truffled Wine offered was decent they did let us hang out until we were done talking Lavender bouquet on table had been picked at and not replaced view is very nice although outdoor bar could stop view in warmer months."

  • "The food was OK. The wine was so so. Just too expensive for what it was. There are a lot of nice places nearby which are much better. The atmosphere in the dining room was so atrocious (the French called, they need their royal dining room back) that we moved to the lounge area which was quite modern but only had a few individual tables which were already taken. We had to seat at a long community style table which I was simply not crazy about."

  • "The food was outstanding, great ambience. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends."

  • "The food was great, the service was excellent. The dinner was a fixed menu as it was Valentine's Day and the chef was very accommodating when I mentioned that my wife was a vegetarian, they made meat substitutions that were still top quality dishes. Will definitely go back."

  • "This was not only Valentine's Day but my wife's birthday. She was late due to traffic from the south shore, so phoned in and was told that we would lose our reservation if she did not arrive in 15 minutes. Not very friendly! Contrast that with our experience a few years ago at a steak house around the corner on Congress St that held our reservation for 90 minutes because of traffic delays & still gave us a great table. The food was good; the service only OK. Lastly, this is the problem with hotel dining rooms- no matter how nice they are, you take a chance that a bummy tourist in jeans sits next to you when you & your wife are decked out for a special occasion. Glad we tried it, but if you want special, go to the well known steak house."

  • "Good spot for business lunches or for taking the spouse (fresh off the ferry/train) before an event in the city. Good mix of options at the hotel is Miel is filled -- Rhumba (bar/food) and Sushi-Teq for a small sushi spot. The bar let's you order from Miel -- food is good and eclectic."

  • "On holidays in Boston - came here with my parents and brother. Informal but elegant dining. Exactly what my parents like for a relaxed dinner. Hostess did not offer to take our coats when we arrived (not residents) which was a bit odd. She even looked looked surpised when we asked. Our waiter was excellent. Food very good but not great. Menu good value. Noise from bar next door unacceptable and coming from one table - surprised that somebody from Intercontinental did not intervene. Not conducive to ambience when people are literally shouting at bar next door. Overall enjoable evening but some gaps in service as detailed above."

  • "I went here with my wife for New Years Eve this year as well as last year. Miel is quite expensive, but the food (and wine pairings!) are absolutely sublime French fare that is rich with subtlety and finesse. The ambiance is romantic, but not overemphatically so- it's perfect, and very classy. The wait staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable without being overbearing or judgmental. They really went out of the way to make sure that we had a great experience. Worth every penny!"

  • "Again we found Miel to be a most rewarding choice. The food, from start to finish, was outstanding, the wines were excellent, and the service could not be better. It's one of Boston's better--and least well known-restaurants, a hidden jewel overshadowed by more showy but less reliable restaurants."

  • "Ambiance-Although the Hotel Loby had Christmas music, the restaurant5 had obnoxious "Euro" music. Service-was very sporadic. Terrific at the start of the meal, but almost non-existent at the end-e.g., dessert served much later than the coffee; had to ask the hostess for the bill. Food-Nothing special or memorable."

  • "We have had late breakfast/brunch at Miel a number of times as this has been our "go-to" place prior to the 1P ballet. Our last visit was in the spring when the menu was far more extensive. Sunday we were presented with a fairly limited menu, but a decent selection, had been warmly greeted and seated. Once the server come to table (about 10 mins post being seated), he was gracious and helpful, but the lag initial attention, long time to get food is a problem. The food was as always terrific. Would just like to see more attention to prompt service."

  • "I took my Mom here and my brothers girlfriend for a birthday lunch for my Mom. We loved it! The staff was so sweet and attentive, the decor was absolutely beautiful and the view was perfect. All of our meals were great as well as side dishes...I would go back here anytime! The Intercontinental Hotel is also a beautiful setting to spend time just hanging out."

  • "While Miel has probably the most beautiful ambiance of all restaurants in Boston, the service is simply horrible. I love outdoor dining, and Miel is one of the best outdoor dining options in Boston. However, the waitstaff is the worst I have seen in Boston. We had to struggle to get our waiter's attention, and when we did, it led nowhere. He did not bring us what we asked, and was simply quite rude. While I love the ambiance of Miel, I doubt I will be back..."

  • "We had reservations, yet still waited 15 minutes. Lots of empty tables, just no one busing them. Long wait for drinks, waiter was nice just had too many tables. The buffet was $28 which wasn't too expensive, the food just wasn't great. I would have love to have ordered a omelet, which was included, but if it took 15 mins to get coffee, I didn't want to wait twenty for eggs. On a Sunday am with a full hotel, Miel needs more waiters. Our reservations was at 9 am by, the second time I went up to the Buffett, there was nothing much left. They ran out of food."

  • "Meal: Sunday brunch Interior decor: pleasant, well-lit, with nice Provencale accents. Table settings: slightly cramped. The table to which we were led still had some crumbs from previous diners. However the establishment was just finishing serving a very large wedding breakfast. Service: adequate. Given the price and theme of the restaurant we expected gracious. Menu: was what attracted us in the first place. Nice selection of creative variations on brunch fare. Execution: the dishes were presented well to the eye, however, each had flaws in preparation. Greatest drawback to enjoyment of the meal: extremely noisy. Intrusive sounds of other diners, and silverware shuffling at waiters' station."

  • "We have dined here a number of times. We love the simple flavors; the service and especially enjoyed dining on the patio while there was a full moon. 3 of us had the roasted chicken with mustard sauce - it is my favorite and the flavors are just exceptional. My finance had shrimp with orzo and peas...he said it was fantastic - and it looked it. The wine list is nice and you can always find reasonably priced bottles to share. We so enjoy it here!"

  • "It is still a lovely spot in a cool hotel, but the French country decor looks tired and a bit passé and menu is way overpriced. Waitstaff is topnotch but food not quite up to par. There was a function taking place on one side of the dining room that really detracted from the dining room experience. On a plus side, the bar update looks like its going in the right direction but the dining room needs some decor and menu inspiration."

  • "Miel is adjacent to a very noisy bar (Rumba) AND 2 add'l adjacent areas were being used for noisy private functions. Conversation could only be had by screaming over the din. That is unfortunate, because the food (shrimp and orzo, mini desserts, tartier app'r) was excellent."
