  • "We sat at the bar as we arrived early and were taken to a table prior to our actual reservation time. Our server was excellent. He made great suggestions in food and wine. The food was quite good. The restaurant is small and a bit noisy but definitely worth it."

  • "Beyond being a little small the Mid-town Cafe is an excellent place to dine or lunch. The service is uniformly good and I have never been disappointed by the food. The Shrimp and Grits are exceptional."

  • "We dined at Midtwon 2 nights ago and once again they outperform. I dine here quite regularly and i am never disappointed. In fact, the restaurant is one of my favorite spots. The food and service are always first rate."

  • "I can't get too much of midtown Cafe's shrimp and grits. They're the best I've ever had, and I convince everyone I take there to try them. It sounds like an odd combination to many, but once they try them, they're hooked, too; the only real decision is whether to have them as your starter or your main dish. All of the food here is good and the service is great. I've never been disappointed."

  • "I liked the relaxed feel of Midtown Cafe. I would return to try more of menu items. Service was excellent. The shrimp and grits appetizer was wonderful. They do need to update their online menu as I was all set for the smoked salmon appetizer, but they had taken it off the menu. My guest enjoyed the scallops, he said the chef knew how to cook them perfectly! Did find it a tad pricey."

  • "I got the tuna tartare and the shrip and grits, both were so delicious, perfectly seasoned, fresh and tasty! The Manhattan was perfect as well."

  • "We were greeted with a smile and shown to our reserved table. The atmosphere was very conducive to quiet conversation and leisurely dining. Honoring our request when first seated, we were moved from a small table for two to a corner 4 top after a cancelledation. Hostess and waiter were so friendly & knowledgable. I had the pork tenderloin with a delicious rub & glaze, sides of asparagus spears roasted to perfection and an outstanding mushroom risotto. The small biscuits with butter and house salad were also outstanding! My dinner mate had the vol au vont filled with creamy chunks of chicken & mushrooms and sides of asparagus and delicious potatoes. All the food was truly delicious! I highly recommend the Midtown Cafe in Nashville!"

Our main courses were lamb with kale and potatoes and scallops with lobster mac and cheese both dishes were delicious. Desert was cocoanut cake a very appropriate Southern Easter desert. You will not leave hungry here. This was our first time here and we will be back."

  • "Midtown Cafe has been a Nashville treasure for many years. Have had consistently excellent experiences on multiple occasions - lunch and dinner (early, peak hours, later night) . The service is friendly and competent, yet non-intrusive. The menu is varied enough for a range of tastes. The food has been unfailingly very good. On a recent visit had our first opportunity to use the shuttle service between the restaurant and the Schermerhorn Symphony Center for a Steve Earle/Shawn Colvin concert. We left Midtown Cafe right on time and were delivered to the venue in about 10 minutes. The shuttle was waiting when we left the show and we were returned to our vehicle in less than 10 minutes."

  • "The waiter was extremely helpful, knew the menu well, and was exactly the right amount of friendly. The food, as always, was delicious. We took the shuttle to the Ryman, and the waiter made sure that everything we ordered was on time and that we would be exactly on time for the shuttle. The shuttle driver was also great."

  • "Took a work colleague for dinner. He isn't picky but loves a good meal. We both had the prime rib, it was excellent. He asked for his to be done well, I thought, I hope that's how it arrives. It was perfect. The waiter was excellent. He had the perfect amount of food wit, and was attentive. He said the little rolls were addictive.....he was right, they were delicious. The only thing I will do next time, is ask for a little more horseradish in the creamy horseradish sauce."

  • "This was a birthday dinner for two very special friends who had never dined at MidTown before. They were looking forward to the experience and were not disappointed. The server acknowledged the occasion and they were greatly appreciated of the birthday desserts. Thank you to MidTown management and our service for providing the celebration I wanted for them."

  • "Our specialty cocktails (mojito and manhattan) were the perfect start to our meal. My daughter and I had the lemon artichoke soup which was fresh and full of flavor. My daughter's pork tenderloin was cooked to perfection, juicy and tasty, as was the mushroom risotto which accompanied it. I had the trout with green beans. Once again, the food tasted so fresh, my only criticism being a tad too much butter. We finished with the chocolate chip bread pudding. As I said, yummy!"

  • "Through the 33 years of our marriage my wife and I have repeatedly chosen Midtown for special occasions because we knew we woulddn't be disappointed in the food or the service. Midtown was the first really nice restaurant that we went to when we first got married and we fell in love with the wait staff immediately. And then the food came to the table and within a couple of minutes we both were moaning with delight. Sometimes while I'm working at the office I close my eyes and can still taste the flourless chocolate cake with raspberry sauce that was on the menu eons ago. Needless to say we still consider Midtown Cafe our first choice when we want a special dining experience. Thanks for always providing that experience!!"

  • "I dined at Midtown Café on 2/22/14 along with 3 friends to celebrate a birthday. First of all, we ran very late for our reservation, and the staff was so kind and forgiving about it! The food was amazing, Each one of us ordered something very different and each dish was fantastic. I had the lobster bisque which was so delicious I had to stop myself from ordering another bowl! I had the tuna entrée (which is my favorite seafood and I can be a bit snobby about it) and it was one of the best tuna dishes I've ever had in my life. Even one of my friends who generally doesn't even like tuna tried it and she loved it. I think she is now a tuna fan thanks to this dish! Many thanks to Midtown Café for a wonderful evening."

  • "I've been to this restaurant several times before, and knew it would be just right for celebrating a friend's success when she came to town. This friend ordered the vol au vent for her entree. The three people in our party split the shrimp grits appetizer, mopping up the sauce with the warm little breads that came with the meal. I had the three-dish version of the chef's tasting (two, four, and five-dish versions were also on offer), with a foie gras appetizer, beef entree, and a cherry cobbler I split with the rest of the table. My partner had the rack of lamb. Portions just right -- we both cleaned our plates. The mid-range Mirabelle champagne was perfect for our toasts; Coppola claret with the meal."
