We were fortunate enough to read about Michy's in an article in our condo, One Bal Harbour. Every restaurant we went to in Miami Beach was very good to excellent. I rate Michy's as the best for recipes. Had Salad of Bibb Lettuce, White Gazpacho, Yellowtail Snapper, Seafood Spaghettini and Alaskan dessert. All were really yummy and not from using a ton of butter, like so many restaurants do these days, but rather from using a well balanced and creative blend of fresh ingredients. Also loved the Asian inspired decor. Will go again the next time we're in town. The food is absolutely fantastic...you can not go wrong by starting with an order of Ham & Cheese Croquettes or with the Squash Blossoms served over Shrimp Grits. This was one of the best meals I have had....ever! Everyone ordered something different and had equal comments. We were visiting Miami Beach for Spring Break, and eating at Michy's was one of the highlights of our trip. The short ribs were fall off the bone tender, the fig jam with the croquettes...we could drink by the gallon, the pasta with shellfish was wonderful, and the service was attentive but not stifling. impressed with our entire dining experience. As soon as we arrived, the host saw us approach the door and immediately welcomed us to our table. We had the ceviche, marrow, and serrano jam and blue cheese cigar apps - yum - our favorite was the ceviche. They added guac and the result was a thicker, more substantial consistency - great flavor. I had the short ribs and my sister had the seafood pasta. Both dishes were delicious - pasta had a slight kick! - and not too big, but very filling. Staff were so gracious - even called us a cab back to our hotel. They really made the dinner special and I'm definitely going back the next time I'm in Miami! But once inside it has an inviting atmosphere if not the most creative decor. The food is the star here. It is exceptional. The wine list is somewhat limited. Owner operated by renowned Chef Michelle Bernstein and her charming husband, David, even basic meals are transformed to fabulous mouth watering experiences. Our little group enjoyed an incredible mushroom risotto, amazing short ribs and a steak special prepared to perfection. The fried artichoke appetizer was fabulous as was the chilled white gazpacho.
