Fabulous spotMy husband and I are foodies and REALLY liked this restaurant. We were in Oahu for 5 nights and made all our reservations through open table, selecting high scoring restaurants with good food and wine lists. This place met all our expectations and the bartender makes the best martini's on the island! Food was superb, and tied for the highest rating of the 5 restaurants we visited.

Although pricey, it never disappoints. Excellent presentation and food, from the artichoke bisque, to the mahimahi en papillote, to the apple banana flambe. We were guided in the good seat which should have been a reservation just one-day before that and was able to watch the sunset.
As for all dishes, as for the taste, serving it was fantastic.
The waiting on customers was the most high level, too.

Service is friendly, efficient and professional again, one of those things that is unique....
The decor is refined and elegant and the added feature of 'live music' with dinner appropriate selections adds to a romantic atmosphere.....

My only issue with MIchel's was the noise level. The both times my husband and I visited Michel's there was a large party of Japanese guests. They were extremely loud and completely spoiled our dining experience. Looking around the restaurant, I saw that other patrons were also a bit annoyed with the level of noise and the japanese boys jumping from the windows onto the beach. The reason my husband and I chose Michel's was because we were under the impression that we would be able to have a romantic, somewhat quiet dinner. From its Diamond Head location looking back at Waikiki, you can enjoy excellent food accompanied by harp music and an exceptional level of service. This year we had an ahi tartare appetizer followed by a seafood thermador for my wife and the special (skirt steak with scallops) for me. My table was right along with open window with a lovely view of the sea and sunset (reserve a table between 530 and 630 to see the sun drop below the horizon).
The food was very good. I had the Lobster and Shrimp Thirmador which was very good. My dining partner had the Rack of Lamp. To start, the Losbster Bisque is a must, creamy and rich. Service was excellent on all accounts. This restaurant and Le Mer at at Halakulani are the best of the best in Oahu or anywhere else, but come for the view at Michel's because it is such a gem with a rich tradition of fine food, service, and again a breath taking view.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great meal.
