"Unfortunately I can't judge the food, because our experience was so horrible we left without being served. We made a reservation for 2 at a window table for 5PM, and we arrived a few minutes early. The restaurant was practically empty. The head waiter or whoever he was hemmed and hawed and kept looking at his chart. He finally pulled a table for 4 apart in the small street level section. There were 2 empty window tables for 2 in that section but he would not seat us there. I could see there were empty tables upstairs but he refused to even listen to my request to check that area. Other people came in while we were there; also treated poorly. Not enough room here to explain all. check trip advisor."

"Loved my appetizer (Lobster St. Tropez) and meal (Seared Scallops) but we visited during Restaurant Week so it was a busy and noisy night. Staff friendly but waitress could have been a bit more so. I sat near a door that kept getting opened to cool the upstairs dining area off, and it was chilly! Definitely will go again though and try to sit near the windows so I can watch the action on Market Square."

"It was our first visit to Michelle's and we truly enjoyed ourselves. Everything we ordered was great, my husband swears the paella is the best in Portsmouth. Saffron mussels were excellent also. Next time I would rather sit upstairs so we will make reservations further in advance.."

"My friends went during restuarant week to take advantage of Michelle's offering their entire menu for each category. My 1st impression after dinner was the description of the appetizers, entree's and desserts were not very accurate or helpful. I had the lamb and wild boar for dinner and I was not expecting it to be more of a stew. However, this could be because I had no clue what Cassoulet meant.

My friends ordered the baked sea scallops as an appetizer, which was yummy, but again not quite what they were expecting.

The desserts we so so, I had the creme carmel and it was nothing to write home about. TheFlourless Chocolate Raspberry Cake was tasty though."

"A very busy night in the middle of restaurant week,but the service was excellent and the food very good.The owner,Michelle,made a point to greet us and brought us some extra lobster for our paella!! (Most likely won't make habit of this!)
Would recommend for a fun night out."

"Food was very well prepared, portions are more than adequate. Menu is unique - will probably dine here again just to sample some of the items, however, am hesitant because of the noise level. We were seated in the upstairs dining room which is a rather small space and unfortunately there were diners around us who weren't considerate of those around them."
