My old and beloved high school friends of many years decided we should all have dinner before the holidays. I was tasked to find a restaurant that would be to everyone's liking. A huge task because some of the wives can be picky. I found Michelangelo's Ristorante online. I was able to make a reservation using open table. To my surprise, everyone was extremely impressed by not only the food, but the service and ambiance. The location also seems less chaotic then Pasadena Glendale or Encino. Needless to say, we will definitely be back. Oh, make sure you try the bruschetta.

The food was good, service was excellent...overall a great find. It was, however, hot inside with only a fan to cool off the interior of the restaurant. Outside dining was available, but it was hot outside even more. I would come back, but won't when it's hot as the restaurant appears lacking in AC.

Met up w/ friends on a recent Fri. night. We had a 7:00 res. but 1 of our party was late. I asked the host if we could change the res. to 7:30 and he was very friendly and had us sit at our table and have a drink, etc., until our friend arrived. We sat down, ordered drinks & the yummy bruschetta. Our friend didn't arrive til 7:40 and they never rushed us or asked where he was - really nice service I thought. Food: 1 of us got pizza, which he enjoyed. The rest all got the same dish - papardelle w/ sausage and we loved it - definitely a dish I would return for. Ambiance was great, place was full but was quiet - we could talk without yelling, which can be rare in Silver Lake. A very nice evening - we'll go back - prices are fine as well.

Great food. Really enjoyed the appetizer (ravioli) and our fettucine and linguine dishes. It just seems like no one paid much attention to us. The waiter said to just sit down on the patio and he would be right out with menus which didn't happen. It took a long time to order and the meals did not come out very quickly. Maybe it was an off night.

I was completely satisfied with my dinning experience on a casual Saturday night. I took a pretty gal on a dinner date here and after a bottle of wine and some great food, we were beyond satisfied. The service along with the food was outstanding. The only thing I must say that is slightly negative is that its right across from the fire station and on a busy night it can get a little noisy. All in all great date night restaurant and am defiantly going back.

Well, I was a little disappointed in this "Neighborhood Gem" as described by other diners. The restaurant was totally empty at 1 PM on a Tuesday. We ate on the terrace which is nice but the atmosphere was ruined by the proximity to loud accelerating cars driving by on the street. While the service was attentive, the food was bland and rather tasteless.

What a great dining experience celebrating our anniversary last Saturday evening. From start to finish, everything was perfect. Waitstaff was very attentive and friendly, and our server was outstanding (he even wished us a happy anniversary, since I had put that on my Open Table reservation). The Prixe fixe meal was delicious from Primi to dessert. Who would think of a bruscheta with grapes on it. The description did not ring any bells for me but the taste completely won me over. The Italian wedding soup was well executed and of course appropriate for the occasion. The main course a shredded Oso Buco over Pappardelle I am craving right now. Chocolate semifredo Yum. We are never disappointed by their food.

There are a number of Italian restaurants in the area but Michelangelo's is my favorite. On this occasion, I took my employer and his partner (both who have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the country, like French Laundry, and some of the best in NYC) and they were both very pleased with the food and the service. Not to say Michelangelo's is on par with French Laundry (never been myself) but my employer is a pretty good judge. That said, Michelangelo's was a favorite of mine prior to this visit. Have been several times and have never been disappointed with the food or the great service.

My wife and I have been frequenting Michelangelo Ristorante since its inception more than a decade ago. What keeps us coming, besides the great food and ambience, is the extremely personal service. We prefer family-run eateries where we have formed a personal relationship with the owners, and this is almost impossible not to have formed at Michelangelo's. One of the three charming sibling-owners (Tony, Giuseppe, or Maria Stefano) and/or their mother Domenica is there to greet you with a smile, chat with you at your table, and make you feel at home. The rest of the staff, most of whom have been there for years, become like extended family -- as you will as well, if you give Michelangelo's a try.

Michelangelo has always been a favorite restaurant, even before they moved to Rowena. However, our most recent experience was hardly a highlight. We waited 45 minutes for our orders and when it finally arrived was not up to this restaurant's usual standard. Additionally, I am well aware that a family restaurant must allow for noise. Unfortunately this can get out of hand when parents allow their children to run around the restaurant and when adults seem to forget they are among other guests and indulge in a screaming laugh fest. i know management can find itself with its hands tied when dealing with sheer rudeness. This endemic in many LA establishments. Yes, we'll return, but may have to check the guest list first!
