A word from Michael's Pizzeria - Rancho Mirage
Located at The River at Bob Hope and 111, Michael's Pizzeria is where classic and modern meet. When you visit, it won’t take you long to learn what countless happy customers and the folks at Zagat already know: This is some of the best Neapolitan pizza in the country. Whether you want to enjoy the simple perfection of a Margherita, or something a little out of the ordinary, your pizza will be made with the freshest ingredients possible and cooked just right in their 800°F wood-burning oven. But it’s not all pizza at Michael’s Pizzeria. They also offer delicious appetizers, salads, entrees cooked and served in cast iron skillets, and of course, an excellent selection of beer and wine. Michael’s Pizzeria is where people go to “try pizza for the very first time.”Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Our go-to restaurant when we visit Palm Springs which is about twice a year. Calamari is amazing and the margherita pizza is the one of the best pizza's We've ever had, which is crazy considering we don't like any pizza that isn't all-meat. When our server (jimmy) first stopped by to introduce himself, he had plastic cups (filled with ice water for the kids) and pizza dough (for them to play with a la Play-doh) in hand All too often servers treat families with kids as second-class citizens, but this was not the case here. Needless to say, Jimmy was fantastic throughout the meal and I didn't think twice about doubling my gratuity. Equally important was the food. Everything was perfectly cooked and constructed from high-quality ingredients"

  • "This has to be considered an outing of special occasion since the cost average per person was $25 not including tip. This is not the average pizza cost to dine out. But, the pizza were delicious so one would have to consider this as a specialty restaurant and not bring the ballteam and cover the bill."

  • "It's one of the best places for pizza in the Palm Springs area! It's a place to go at least once a month! Everything is fresh and simply delicious!"

  • "Poor food and service. One good thing was each kids were being comped by stretching their own pizza (what a fun thing for kids!), then they will bake em and serve, but the bottom of pizza were totally black and burned! Our pizza were very doughy, wet sauce, very few cheese and were too watery, also burned at bottom, and bland. We also had the salad and was just good, but portion way too small. Calamari was flat and greasy. On the service side, extremely slow, waited about 45 minutes after ordering. We had to ask for bread, but unlike other tables, they brought us just bread without oil and had to ask for them. Servers checked if everything was ok, just just tell them good, but they should have been aware we waited too long enough!"

  • "I really can't stress how much I enjoyed this place , I'm new to the area and michaels pizzeria is already on my regular list , went yesterday with my family and was pleasantly surprised by the level of service and the outstanding food . Our server Jaime was absolutely professional , knew the menu like the back of his hand , and was even able to recommend a dish for my grandmother and her very restrictive diet . My brother his girlfriend and I decided to go with a bunch of plates and pizzas and it ended up being perfect for a hot day , the calamari was probably one of the best . :)"

  • "I work in Palm Springs about 20 days a year and Michael's is across the street from where we hold the conferences. It has become our go-to place for a relaxing and delicious meal. They have a nice wine list too."

  • "The food here is ABSOLUTELY delicious.....it really is but overall with our server Tania lee I believe and the layout and ambiance it brought it down for me. I would simply just go for the pizza and take it to go. it's DEFINITELY not kid-friendly and our server was NOT a server just an order taker it almost felt like she HATED coming to her tables. The colors of the place are used very well together but we couldn't appreciate much of the place having been stuck in a corner with the only option of facing another table that was 5 inches away. Like I said everything we ordered was FANTASTIC just disappointed that I will take out instead of fine in next time."

  • "Food was ok, nothing to rave about. Not sure what happened to our order because twice we heard our pizza was just about done. Red sauce tasted like tomato paste right out of the can. Beverages were too expensive. "

  • "From the moment we entered we felt well taken care of. Friendly staff all the way from hostess to Manager, including cooks. Food is outstanding and everything we ordered was fantastic. Excellent Italian food. Great variety of Pizza's and we tried the nightly special, it was fettuccini with brazed oxen tail, they were outstanding. Will go back again for sure. "

  • "Excellent salad. Calzone - mediocre at best; peas do not belong in a calzone, sausage too peppery, minimal ricotta, but excellent mozzarella. Pizza crust good, but 2 little leaves of basil on a margherita? Tried to fancy up the cannoli, but flavor lost in too much lemon zest. "

  • "This restaurant is probably okay when people are able to eat outside but due to wind that didn't happen the night we were there. We had to wait a half hour after our reservation time for a table and during that time apparently they sold out of the pasta which is what we went threw to try. Later we were hearing people being served pasta after we ordered other entrées. The guy and gal in charge tried very hard to make everything work but this place is too small in my opinion to take reservations, We will not go back in spite of the food being pretty good."

  • "I've tried a lot of wood fired pizza in my day and Michaels is right on top. From the chewy crispy crust to the amazing sauce and the imaginative ingredients it really is a great pizza. They have some nice salads to start I love the michaels salad which is Arugula shallots Parmesan they also have a couple of great small plates to share. Desert a great cannoli Also the almond cake with rosemary sauce is yummy"

  • "The food is delicious and a lot of the products are made on site (salumi, mozzarella, etc.). The flavors are very good. If you sit at the bar you can watch the food being prepared. Service is usually good, but on this visit it was a bit off; our waitress may have been new. I love the rolled pizza, or rotolino."

  • "We found Michael's about 2 years ago . I'm a foodie From Chicago and we also have a place here in Rancho Mirage. So pizza is one of my favorite things Especially Wood fired neopolitan style. So being from Chicago and being very lucky to be able to travel often I've sampled some of the best around . I have a lot of places and Michaels is in my top 3. Actually tied with Pizza Bianco in az. The pizzas are delightful with a chewy crunch in the crust . The margarita is amazing with a nice sauce and really great mozzarella .We've tried about half there pizzas and calzones all have been great The lasagne is also off the hook too! This is a must try place when in the Rancho mirage palm desert area"

  • "The food was fantastic! Casual place. Ate there two days in a row on a visit to Palm Springs. The gnocchi with oxtail was awesome!"

  • "The pizza here is true, authentic Italian pizza. They even serve the pizza uncut, just like in Italy. You can request it cut if you would like, but the reason they don't is because the steam from being cut causes the crust to soften quicker. Although, the pizza is so good it won't last too long on your plate! The other dishes on the menu were delicious too. I had the braised Oxtail with Gnocchi. It was very good, but also very rich. The atmosphere is very casual and it is located within an outdoor mall which can be misleading with all the chain restaurants around. I would highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "I thought the pizza was tasty, which is certainly a plus for a pizza place! The caesar salad came dressed with a slimy anchovie slithering on the plate though. Not appetizing! Highly suggest omitting that! Our server was friendly, and the interior was really nice. Affordable with 12" pizzas enough to share, perfect size lunch with one appetizer shared."

  • "Great food, period. Had pizza and is amazing, crust and toppings are perfect. You can see kitchen and house made sausage hanging to dry. Service just a bit gaping but does not affect going back for the food."

  • "Love Michaels at all their locations. Pizza is top notch. I just can't visit and not order a straciatella mortadella pistachio pizza. So good! Great selection of beer and wine that are paired with the menu. Cast iron specialties like lasagna are great, as are the salads. You won't be disappointed."

  • "Good spot for some real authentic Italian food. Reasonably priced. Starter portions are a bit on the small side. Menu is catered to the Italian speaker, which is fine, but our waiter wasn't very helpful when we needed help deciphering some of the choices. Several of us used our phones to view pictures of the entrees on their website which was very helpful. Aside from that, the food was great and we look forward to coming back."

  • "The food was fantastic. I have never had such a unique pizza. It was so good! First time I have never had a pizza cut and would totally do it that way again. The cheese was to die for!!!! The staff was very friendly. We were greeted at the door instantly and when we left they all said good bye. Our server ( Tonalea) was so helpful in helping me select a glass of wine with lunch. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and all the beer and wine that they offered. Very helpful, always smiling and attentive. Very clean place. Bathrooms spotless. Would go again and again if it was just a little closer!! Maybe that's a good thing!"

  • "Ordered the marguerite pizza ..the mozzarella could have been a little more cooked it was clumped on the pizza and when you took a bit the clump comes right off. Having it be my fav pizza I've had it throughout the east coast n Italy I know my pizza."

  • "We have been here several times and the food and service are always excellent. This time we came with foodie friends who were recently in Italy. They were more than impressed with the authentic light touch of true Italian food. Loved the arrancini, pear salad and white pizza with speck. We'll be back for more. Keep up the good work!"

  • "We had high hopes from the descriptions on the menu and the 4-star rating, but were very disappointed. It wasn't terrible. In fact, the appetizers that we ordered were good, but the pizza was disappointing, and the whole meal was far too expensive for the quality of the food. Coming from Chicago, we are spoiled, and so can perhaps understand how Michael's has a 4-star rating from the Coachella Valley diners, but we expected a lot more. Ah well, I guess we'll keep searching for a good CV pizza place and for a good Italian restaurant. We've crossed Michael's off our list."
