  • "Late Sunday night gourmet pizza at Michael's was great. So glad they keep late hours. Got to know the manager Chris. He was great for recommendations and generally checking that all the patrons were taken care of. The surprise of the night was how good dessert at Michael's could be. The cannoli and chocolate hazelnut gelato were fabulous. OMGosh. I am going back just for the gelato and chat with manger Chris again. Michael's deserves the high ratings."

  • "Michael's pizzeria was one of the best italian restaurants I have ever been to. The service was fantastic with a great staff always there to make your meal delicious. I visited the restaurant twice once for dinner and another time for brunch and found the food delicious I definitely would recommend there pizzas and their cinnamon rolls. There cinnamon rolls were the best I have ever had. There were about five of them and were tiny delicacies. I really enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant for it had a great inside and outside vibe. The outside patio gave the restaurant more wingspan yet still allowed it to feel intimate. For anyone visiting Long Beach I would make this restaurant a must."

  • "We are 70-somethings who enjoy good food in a pleasant environment. Our pizzas -- Margherita (highly recommended by a friend), and the Calabrese. The pizza crusts were chewy and tasty, especially the thin center portions, and the toppings were ample and of quality ingredients. Appetizers -- excellent baby artichokes with burrata, and baked mozzarella with speck (the olives were a nice surprise). Desserts -- loved the affogato and the cannoli. Our server (Jessica) was efficient and friendly. The interior was well-designed, but the patrons were seated too close to each other, making private conversations impossible. Parking was in the nearby convenient parking structure. We will recommended Michael's, and most definitely, return."

  • "This was our 4th time dining @ Michael's. The 2nd for a special occasion (one was Valentine's Day @ the Ristorante). This occasion was for a birthday celebration for my younger brother. He and his wife were uninitiated and there are now fans. The food was great and sitting outside for the Summer kick-off was excellent."

  • "Trying to find a reputable and tasty place for a party of 12 people with less than 2 hours notice on Father's Day seemed like an impossible task. However, the staff was gracious and accommodating, immediately acknowledging our reservation when we made a follow-up call a few minutes after placing it. Highlights: Insalata di finocchi, Caesar salad, Capricciosa pizza, Squash blossoms, Cannoli, Ciambelle So-so: Rotolino di carciofi (too many tough, inedible artichoke leaves...the cheese and pesto were tasty, though. Farmers Market Veggies...a little too bland, but a nice variety of seasonal offerings. Overall, a solid A. Bonus points given for their willingness to comp one of our entrees due to miscommunication. We will be back!"

  • "had a reservation for 7:45, arrived early at 7:30 hoping to get lucky. we were seated earlier than our reservation time, but waited at the front desk for over 5 minutes before someone acknowledged us, as well as the growing number of people behind us, while the hostess was in full view the whole time, talking to the manager in the dining room. once we were seated, 20 minutes went by before i had to get up to find the manager to ask if someone could help us, just before i did that, i overheard the couple next to us complaining to their waiter (who had just shown up at their table) about the same thing. the manager apologized and explained that the were short a server, but dont think that one server less should cause that kind of problem."

  • "We went for a family celebration. We all shared many dishes (salads, pizzas, entrees) all of them excellent. The service was very good. It has an open feel, but they wisely hung some acoustic panels from the ceiling, so it is not as noisy as many restaurants (pet peeve- cool restaurants that are so noisy you can't have a conversation) We will definitely be back!"

  • "We had the most beautiful day here at Michaels Pizzeria for Mothers Day 2014. Our experience went beyond my expectations. I found the food Fantastic, Fun and Eventful along with the Wine (I can't remember what I had but the server helped me choose)-they put a lot of love in what they do, in my opinion! It was also the last time my Sister would ever go out to eat like that again. She sadly passed away last week. But because of our happy experience here, I will always cherish this place even more!   • "Swiftly greeted and seated. Enjoyed some appetizer flatbread with spinich/artichoke dip and ricotta cheese. For entrees it was the Margherita and Margherita-salame for the kids. Dessert was the pizzetta alla nutella. Everything that touched my lips was divine. The quality is exactly as I've heard. Happy hour is a great time to dine since it's not that busy (picks up at the end) and specials abound. From $2 off glasses of beer/wine to appetizer specials (on the order of half off), you can be wallet savvy. Also, Margherita Monday is a must and well worth it! (Purchase a pizza, receive a free Margherita pizza). A terrific experience that has me a fan!"

  • "Michael's Pizzeria on the Long Beach Promenade at 3rd street has been getting a lot of local and national press because Zagat rating it very highly. The oven is an authentic Italian pizza oven and very impressive looking. The menu offers several very good unusual salad choices. The pizza is served unsliced, so be prepared to slice your own or just tear of pieces as you go. The house made hot oil was excellent. The pizza was very good. There is an interesting wine list. I can't say this is the best pizza I have ever eaten in Long Beach. It is very good. It is gourmet. We will go back again."

  • "As a transplanted New Yorker, I was excited about having the pizza voted "best in the country" close by in Long Beach. The photos diners placed on Yelp, and the pizza in person looked like the real deal - as in pizza they way it is served in Italy. At the edges, the crust was excellent - truly among the best I've had. But the center of the pizza was soggy. This despite the chef's notes that the pizza wasn't sliced to prevent the dough from getting soggy. To be fair, I did choose a pizza that had parma ham and arugula topping, which I thought may have trapped moisture, but my friend's Pizza Margharita - the true test, was the same. That said, I would try it again if in the area, but probably wouldn't make a special trip again."

The braised beef, veal and pork meatballs are delicious, as was the margherita pizza.   • "There was a total of 9 of us including 2 five-year old twins and a 16mth old toddler. The restaurant provided dough to allow the kids "make" their own cheese pizzas (which they loved!). It got a bit chilly (we were seated outside) so they put the heat lamps on for us. Our food was amazing. We all got something different and none of us chose badly. I'd recommend this place to everyone, especially if you have children."

  • "They must have the best publicist because this is nowhere near the `best pizza' in the country/state/city. Order a margherita and they look strangely at you when you decline to add toppings. We found out why -- the cheese is so sparsely applied most of the pie is just sauced crust - though tasty, we must admit. Better pizza of this style can be had at Casa Bianca in Eagle Rock and even the new 800 Degrees chain."

  • "We had heard the accolades of this place, so we came for dinner early - 5PM, after a local Whale Watching excursion. 3 people, We ordered 3 different pizzas, and a couple of appetizers. Everything was tasty, but we were surprised that each pizza came separately, and there was probably 4 or 5 minutes from the first to the second, and then another 8 or so minutes until the 3rd. Each pizza comes unsliced, as they suggest using a knife and fork, so the idea of the three of us starting on the first, then the second, etc. was a bit "out the window" Since hot ovens, and small, thin pizzas don't take long to cook, I can only assume that they started the last pizza about the time that they delivered the first. We enjoyed it, but room to improve"

  • "I love pizza and this is hands down the best pizza I've had outside of Italy! It is true, authentic Neapolitan style pizza with fresh ingredients and wonderful flavor combinations. Their crust is incredible and true to form, slightly charred and floured, crispy on the outside, slightly chewy on the inside, and a bit doughy in the center. I highly recommend the carbonara, the finochiona, and the fichi e speck, when available. Bon apetit!"

  • "Came to the 3rd Street location for a work holiday party and had to take my bf there for his birthday because the food we so good. Tuesday was the perfect night to go because they have a "2 fer Tuesday" drink deal. Buy any drink by the glass and get the second one for $0.25!!! We shared 2 salads, the fried calamari, a pizza and tiramisu. Everything was in a nice portion, not too big, not too small, and had great flavors and texture. At the risk of writing an annoying long-winded review, I have to just talk about the pizza for a sec...the crust was perfect. So fresh, so doughy, so crusty so tasty! Cheese made in-house was unbelievably, crazy good!"

  • "Throughout the meal, various people squeezed in the banquette seat between me and the person at the next table to have loud conversations. I like my personal space when I eat, so I may not be quite objective. The fennel salad is amazing but the arancini tasted like chef boyardee, although they had a great texture. The pizza honestly, meh. I got my pizza 7 minutes before my husband got his food and while I shared mine with him, no plates were offered for him. The tomato sauce on the margherita was salty , the cheese was hard and the crust was underdone( (which is odd because that's the one we got first, it could have cooked a bit more) but the sausage and rapini pizza was perfect. I was expecting more."
