Founded on April 27, 1987, the celebrated Michael’s On East restaurant takes fine dining to another level, offering award-winning cuisine and outstanding service, in an exceptional 1940s supper club atmosphere. Michael's On East was one of only ten restaurants in the nation to be inducted into the 2009 Nation's Restaurant News Fine Dining Hall of Fame, considered the Oscars of the restaurant industry, and recently received their 23rd consecutive AAA Four-Diamond Award.

  • "Starting out with no-charge, valet parking and a friendly "hello" at the MaitreD's desk sets the right tone for dinner. I always start with the wine list and then build my meal around it. There, on the 3rd page was my most favorite white wine. Unfortunately there were only 2 bottles and by the time mine was located, the other bottle was history also. Mussels as a split appetizer.....lots of garlic in a lobster butter sauce......can't wait to do that again with NO sharing, A chopped salad that was very ordinary....will not order that again Entrée was 2 large pieces of Pompano. Lightly breaded and cooked rapidly over high heat in butter....makes me hungry to remember. The chocolate brownie was sinful....ask for "extra drizzle""

  • "We were celebrating our Wedding Anniversary; everyone was most pleasant and cheerful; we were greeted by numerous staff (and manager) congratulating us and wishing us well. Our table was in a private corner; the food was excellent and a complementary dessert was given to us to celebrate the occasion. We definitely will be back and will also recommend to our friends and family. We also enjoyed listening to the live piano music as we dined. Thank you to ALL of your staff for a lovely time as we celebrated our Anniversary."

  • "New to Sarasota, we tried this restaurant during Savor Sarasota week, which was a discounted three-course meal. There was nothing discounted about the experience. Food, portions, presentation, service were all top notch. We definitely would return to try their regular menu. But, for the thrifty, Michael's on East offers what they call a epicurean adventure or something like that. A three-course menu for about $35 that changes monthly. We went back to try the New Orleans menu and were very pleased. You even get a wine pairing for a very reasonable cost. A quality place."

  • "My friend and I ordered one drink, split a salad and each had an entree. My share was over $70 with tip. That seems a lot for a drink and some scallops. However, the atmosphere is nice and we enjoyed the music so I would return but only if I'm with someone who has an expense account."

  • "Looked forward to this for sometime, but was disappointed. The lobster meat did not pull away from the shell like it should. I think the lobsters were left over from the previous Friday. The mussels and clams were dry. Server and service was great. Don't remember assist waiters from previous visit, but the were very accomplished and helped to keep thing moving. The piano has been toned-down, but it is still a very noises restaurant."

Not only was each course prepared impeccably and the presentations exceptional, but the service and the acknowledgment of the occasion by Michael and his staff was unsurpassed. One surprise after another- you would have thought we ate here every day!!!   • "This was probably our 7th visit to Michael's on East. In the past, exceptional in every way. We were attracted by the seasonal three course menu posted on the webpage. Sadly the menu had changed since we booked earlier in June. The substituted menu was very good, but not what we expected as we brought our own wine. One server bumped our guest's head with the plates (a first for us!) and was too friendly instead of efficiently professional as we'd come to expect. The kitchen was incredibly slow. We arrived at 7 and left at 10. However, the food was outstanding. By the end we were happy, tired and surprised by this experience. I'd hesitate to book a special occasion as consistency matters. But I will return as the food is that good."

  • "This is a good spot for the occasional expensive celebration dinner. We felt some of the dishes were over-salted, but otherwise food was good. The service was very attentive. Noise level was very loud in the bar, the later it got, and we were glad to be leaving when it got too loud to converse easily at our table. The live piano player is a nice touch."

  • "We love Michael's, and it was our 59th Anniversary and we could not go to dinner, so we chose lunch. We are members of the Connoisseur Club and were able to redeem our points so lunch only cost us $6.50 and a tip!! My flounder was the best I ever had and my husband, who has a hearty appetite could not finish his turkey club sandwich and enjoyed the other half later. Our waiter, Paul, was professional, friendly and helpful in making selections. A complimentary dessert to share for our anniversary was most welcome and enjoyable. We will continue to frequent this fine (best in Sarasota) restaurant as often as possible."

  • "Fabulous! The 'Savor Sarasota' menu was prominently displayed along with the regular menu. Our group mostly chose the SS menu with wine pairings -an incredible deal - all exceptional - duck breast in amazing sauce, sturgeon perfection, sides & presentation was lovely... One guest is Gluten Free & they offered to make anything she desired GF for her. The steak off the regular menu was deemed to be "Best In Sarasota'! One couple was celebrating their Anniversary - we made the friendly & efficient staff aware and our server surprised us with 3 huge portions of Cremė Brûlée, Chocolate cake and Key Lime pie with a candle for all to share and it made it a very special occasion for all! We'll all be looking forward to next time! Thank You!"
