Michael's Genuine Food & DrinkExcellent discoveryWe were in Miami for a couple of days on a business trip and found this great place for dinner. Food is the best part of all!6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best in south FloridaAn all-time favourite. I WISH I could try a new appetizer (small plate) but the double egg yolk is too good to change. The rest of the menu is innovative, locally sourced and expert. Always lovely staff too.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMichaelsOverall my experience was great. The ONLY thing constructive I could say is that the service was a bit inpersonal. Dont get me wrong, the service was good, but it wasnt memorable.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFAB FOODcherry and rosemary cordial - fabulous,
breakfast pizza - interesting and good
puddings - all to die for... fabulous pastry chef here....
expensive but worth a splurge for a special occasion6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMBest food in FloridaThis man is a magician and has put Midtown Miami on the world map6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMMeganMichael's is one of my favorite Miami gems--the food is always fresh, innovative and delicious. A must!!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingAlways a big treat to go Michael's Genuine, the menu is creative and delicious. It is a Miami treasure, with very good service, it's staff is very professional and well trained, a true delight to see in Miami, where good service greatly lacks.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and cocktails!Service just a bit slow due to big brunch crowd. Everything else was perfect !6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were there for a birthdayWe were there for a birthday celebration and the birthday person loved it. The wine, champagne, and cappiacino were all delicious.
We shared the red snapper which was plenty with the appetizers and vegetables we ordered for 3 people. The only negative was the noise level which was very high for 60 year olds, but we would all go there again.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in Miami!I'm so in love with this place! I go when ever I have the opportunity and I make sure to take my friends especially when they are from out of town.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food with exceptionAlways had fantastic food! Devilled eggs were outstanding. Only thing not up to expectations this one time is the pan roasted chicken. It wasn't done properly. Every order seemed done beautifully except ours. The waitress didn't offer to have it redone so we didn't insist.
But every time we went to Michael's except for this one time, everything was outstanding! Freshest, most-delicious food!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMVery eclectic menu. Come hungryVery eclectic menu. Come hungry because you will want to try a lot of things here. Great selection of craft beers, and make room for dessert!!!5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic Dining ExperienceMy wife & I had a wonderful anniversary dinner at MGFD. The staff was attentive, the food came out quickly & was unbelievably delicious, & the vibe was hip without being pretentious. We'd eat there again in a heartbeat!5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a Nice surpriseFood was delicious....the staff was friendly and efficient. Just loved the place!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFound a good "go-back-to" placeCommuted about 30 minutes, but overall, it was worth it. Food was varied and of very good quality. Only thing that was not tasty was the ceviche. Fish was tough, not tender. My teenage kids (picky eaters), liked everything they had. There were enough familiar and not so familiar items whereby they were able to find things that they wanted to eat. Would suggest that food prep be more open to patrons who have restricted palettes. We sat outdoors, which was great. Could talk easily and be heard, plus it was a beautiful evening. Portions were small to medium. You need to be prepared to order a number of items to be satiated. Will go back if I am in the neighborhood again!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGenuine foodThe best part of dining at Michael's is the combination of spices & food pairing that are unusual & we would not think of mixing together. Also, it's really hard to pick just one thing, since you'll want to try many tasty dishes, I recommend coming with friends so you can order a variety of goodies.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMichael's Genuine is consistantlyMichael's Genuine is consistantly excellent. I brought a friend who is very hard to please foodwise and she was totally in heaven.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent, andThe food was excellent, and the staff professional, attentive, and courteous. The mussels were amazing, and our server recommended the snapper entree and then the chocolate cremosa for dessert, which were equally great.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExactly What They Say They AreSecond Michael Schwartz restaurant I ate at in two days and both times I came away very impressed. We arrived as they were opening for lunch and had a seat on the patio. Server was incredibly friendly and warm. Suggested cocktails, which were the best I had all week in Miami. The salad to start was kind of plain (leaf, tomato, balsamic), but that's what it was described as. Much better choices we made were the pizza, which was fantastic, the fish of the day, incredible flavor and so fresh with amazing greens, and even the pigs ear. Loved the fact they do not follow the Miami trend of price gauging for every thing. Complimentary still or sparkling water and reasonable food prices. Best Chef/Owner in Miami hands down.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodA friend from Miami recommended Michael's and it was delicious. Go and experience the food.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had been telling friendsWe had been telling friends about michael's, they loved it. Food was fabulous, service was great, it was a wonderful evening we look forward to our next visit. We drove down from Jupiter, it was worth the trip, would do it again in a heartbeat.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMBrilliantWe find MGFD innovative and fun. The location has suddenly got to be an area to linger in and explore and the food continues to be among the best in south Florida.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodWe had lunch twice at this place. Normally we do not repeat restaurants while on holidays, but we enjoyed the food so much that we had to return. Simple, tasty, pure food with ingredients that match perfectly well together.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place with excellent foodGoing back for more. The food was great and the service was to par. We will be retuning to try other delicious creations.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBest pastrami in town. Don'tBest pastrami in town. Don't miss it in lunch menu5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Food & Serv- but SNOBBISHEvery time I eat here I love the food, and usually appreciate the service. This time was no exception. However, the bullies that work the reservation/front door are bullish and not nice. They act as if they have blue blood- so why are you working the hostess station?5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOnly issue experienced wasOnly issue experienced was a lack of update on the wine list leading to some confusion and led to me just settling for the wine I didn't order. I was dining with my mother and she likes wines with slight residual sugar. Initially, I ordered the Donnhoff, Nahe, with no vineyard designation, but described as med-sweet or something along those lines on the wine list. The wine that arrived was the Donnhoff Trocken. Understandable. Next, I ordered the Huet Le Haut-Lieu Demi-Sec. The wine that arrived the Sec, not the demi-sec. Having already received our first round of food 10 minutes prior, I just accepted that wine as we didn't want to wait any longer. Also, asked server for desert wines, and she couldn't locate where they are listed.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great as usual. The food was great as usual. We had a reservation but had to wait for one hour and a half. This was probably due to the rain and their need to move all seated outside to the inside.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGood but not exceptionalOur lunch was good, however it was not great. Yes, I would go there again but a $16 sandwich is a bit pricey I think.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGenuinely GoodLoved the food, lots of vegetarian choices, great service, very friendly hostess. Felt welcomed and liked our table location in quieter area. the rest of the restaurant was very noisy and loud but at our table we could easily talk. Will come back soon.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMMichaels GenuinePhenomenal experience. Despite doing a brisk business, we were treated efficiently and respectfully by all staff, and the food exceeded our already high expectations. Every phase, from the appetizers to the after dinner coffee, reflected a consistent attention to detail and adherence to including only ingredients of the finest quality. I cannot recommend enthusiastically enough.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMVisit MichaelsA must-go if you want to see what locals do for having an outstanding thursday night.
Brian and Roberto (somelier and waiter) adopted us like the Miami newborns we are, and guided us through magnificent wine and food.
I will never tell my mother I had Pig Ears, but I did and hope you do when you go here. The Pork belly was great, the ceviche was also very good, but maybe the greatest surprise of the night was the dessert: a combination of chocolates, with coconut and sea salt: really out of this world. If you are a dessert fan, go for this. And if you are not, go for this anyway.
The neighborhood is evolving in a remarkable way. being this Street a mini NY 5th Av. or 57th St, with Prada, Gucci and Louis Vouitton stores among others.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Good MealMy mom came to visit, and I wanted to take her somewhere special but casual. She's a vegetarian and loves fresh ingredients. I decided on Michael's. We went on a Monday night. Asked for outside and got seated right away. Our server explained the way their portions work and we made our selections. Mom was happy with her vegetarian choices even with mostly meat on the menu. I had a delecious pizza topped with octopus, chorizo, peppers, parsley. Service was prompt and polite all around, and food was delicious. Glad I listened to everyone who told me how great this place is.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMJust as I imaginedThis is an outstanding restaurant, my congratulations to chef Michael. The restaurant decoration is beautiful and the music was really smooth. The only thing that made me a little bit unconfortable was that the tables for two that are inside the restaurant are too close from one another. So I had to eat elbow to elbow with another guy. I recommend that if you are going as a party of two ask for a table outside which is just as beautiful as the inside.
I ate a well done black angus hamburger and it was a little bit dry so I recommend you to ask for a medium well one better! The french fries are really tasty!
The service was pretty good too, not the best but I was really amazed by the restaurant's ambiance that I really didn't mind.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome as alwaysThe food is always fantastic, on this most recent visit I really enjoyed the shrimp and rice cakes, the duck confit and the beef short ribs. Wine pairing was a lovely pinot noir. As usual, the service was fantastic. I highly recommend this place to anyone with a taste for good food and drink if you happen to be in SoBe and find yourself hungry.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food - no team workThis is a straightforward restaurant, which is special without being pretentious. The food is of a high standard where the ingredients are allowed to shine. The whole baked snapper is a personal favourite.
The one area which was less than polished was the wait staff team. Its not a numbers thing - but they way they seem to work together, I counted 5 different people attend to our table, where those in black shirts seemed a bit confused about why they were there with only the main waiter able to be proactive. Sadly he was too busy with other tables so overall service was inattentive and impersonal, where the basics were done fine but extra requests slow to meet, and wine left un-poured.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place never disappoints. This place never disappoints. The food and service are both excellent.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AM34 reasonsOur 34 wedding anniversary was celebrated and thoroughly enjoyed at Michaels. Personal touches and excellent food gave us 34 reasons to return.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDelish! My husband and I came for my birthday, and it was terrific! The food was so good, the cocktails, the wine, everything. We will be back!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, service and ambiance.Great food, service and ambiance. Very consistent, have never been disappointed.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent, creative food.Excellent, creative food. A bit pricey, but worth it for a unique dining experience. We were a bit displeased with the waiter, however. We got the feeling he was talking down to us. Otherwise, it was a great time.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMMichaels is GenuineLove the menu concept and the fact that we don't have to order everything at one! Wait staff is great, on the ball and always friendly.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe reason I gave the serviceThe reason I gave the service a "fair": Our waiter decided we didn't tip him enough, even though we left a tab of $192 on a $160 bill. If I do the math, that's 20%. He came up to a member of our party after dinner and asked if there was something wrong with the service. When she replied no, that everything was just great, he said, "Well, it's not free." I notified a manager right away. Highly INAPPROPRIATE, as that's simple math and should have been understood. Who leaves more than 20% these days anyway?4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMTop notch food and serve withoutTop notch food and serve without formality but with genuine care. A delight!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBeen over a year since ourBeen over a year since our last visit, as we have been trying out new places, but Michael's is still "Genuine" and never disappoints!4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome food and great service.Easily one of the best dinners I have had in a long time. They forgot to bring out our appetizer which was kind of a bummer, but because they let the manager know right away what had happened he came to our table, apologized, and offered us a dessert which I thought was excellent and tasted superb as well. So all in all the experience was good and we will definitely be going back.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat tasting food. A littleGreat tasting food. A little different how they operate compared to most other places but overall, a great experience.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always , the food was excellent. As always , the food was excellent. My husband and i ordered three small/ medium plates and a large to share . The stracciatella, gundi and oysters, followed by the snapper. However we were disappointed when three of our four dishes arrived all at once (there wasn't even enough space on the table) and we actually had to ask the waiter to take a least one back so we could savour what we had. So if you want to order this way, we recommend you advise your server first.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMIt is dog friendly and I doIt is dog friendly and I do not appreciate animals where I eat.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had heard about Michael'sWe had heard about Michael's awhile back in Anthony Bourdain's Layover in Miami. We were excited to check it out when we were in town, and we're delighted that we did! Everyone from the hostess to our server to busboys were especially gracious and welcoming. The food was appropriately portioned and divided into snacks, small, medium, large and extra large plates so that it was easy for the two of us to share a variety of dishes on the menu. We ordered the pig ears, deviled eggs, duck confit, pork belly, short ribs, pompano, and the passionfruit ice cream and donuts for dessert. Everything was cooked to perfection, but the short ribs were especially delicious and tender. We also really enjoyed the donuts with the passionfruit ice cream.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
