  • "A friend recommended Michael's. I read the reviews in advance and they were spotty with many loving it and many not so much. I think maybe the place is inconsistent? We had a large group and asked for a quiet spot during reservations and they accommodated, however, the room we dined in had an uncontrollable thermostat. Freezing cold when we entered, waiter adjusted and it was blazing hot. He had to change it five-six times during the meal - each time to an extreme hot or cold. Appetizers of calamari and fantailed spiced shrimp were served cold and greasy. The crab cake was reputed to be the best in the city.....it was decent, but not really the best in the Baltimore area. I'll give them another shot and hope to catch a "good" night."

  • "Dined with friends from Annapolis last Sat - the meal could not have been any better. Service was excellent and above. She knew her oysters! So much so we tried 4 varieties to start and went back for 2 more orders as they were all fantastic. Everyone raved about their crabcake, veal franciase, filet Oscar and a cheeseburger( I've been eating healthy all week).. Our guests were so impressed we have a future reservation. We eat here about 6 times a year, all good, but this was fantastic"

  • "My family and ate at Michael's Cafe for my birthday this past Monday . As always the food was fantastic. I had the 2 pound Maine lobster. My husband had the seafood platter and my son had the steak. We all had the appetizers. Husband and I had the raw oysters and they were so fresh and good. Son had the mussels, ate up every bite. We live in PA and travel 45 minutes to get to Michael's. We've never had a bad meal here. Its always good and this place is our favorite for fresh seafood and steaks."

  • "My wife and I frequently dine at Michael's. We laugh that she doesn't need a menu because she always gets the single broiled crab cake platter. Michael's crab cakes are her idea of perfection. I enjoyed the Sunday lobster special. Everything was well-prepared and tasty. There was an unexpected limitation. Most entrees come with two sides. The choices are listed at the bottom of the menu; the list includes a small house salad. I usually get that (I love salads) and one other side. Our server informed us the salad was the ONLY side NOT available with lobster. This metaphorically left a bad taste. Any limitations should be CLEARLY listed on the specials board or the menu, not arbitrarily announced while ordering. A rare disappointment."

  • "My stepmother frequents Michaels, and I've been there numerous times myself. On our last visit, we were a large group celebrating two birthdays in my family - Fez served my table. He was so outstanding, than when I had co-workers coming into town for a few days, I knew where to take them, and who to help us!! Fez did not disappoint - I dubbed him 1/32nd Irish (it was on St. Patrick's Day), and he impressed my guests with his friendliness, professionalism, and wicked sense of recall on a table of 7. I'm going back again this Sunday for yet ANOTHER family gathering, and sincerely hope to have Fez with us again - his personality, plus the exceptional food, makes for a perfect evening!"

  • "I made a reservation for 10 for my Mom's 80th birthday. I requested a quiet corner because we were having a celebration. When we arrived we were escorted to a large private room. It was a shared room with one other large party, but they were leaving as our party was arriving and getting settled. Lauren was our server, pure perfection. She was pleasant and attentive to our needs. She did not rush us. Thank you for making this day perfect!"

My husband decided on the ribs, but the server returned to our table to advise that they were out of ribs. He hastly made another choice-Ckn dinner which was avg. The server was not as attendive as we would have hoped-(had to ask for water twice). Had ordered a bottle of Hess Select Chard. which was fairly priced at $27. All staff members were very friendly. The new addition is nice, it just seemed very noisy."

  • "Usually really like Micheal's - but since the new additional room - food quality has declined. Crab cakes were lacking flavor - I had to ask for Old Bay. The french fries were old and cold. The waiter was good and gave me fresh french fires and a plastic container of Old Bay - but I really would have prefered the crab cake prepared well from the start. The lump crab meat tasted canned..."

  • "Michael's recently underwent a long renovation/expansion project. The result was a larger up-to-date great restaurant. The bars were doubled and significantly improved. The dining area is larger and has capacity for groups which was my recent experience. The seven members of my party were comfortably seated at an appropriate table with great view from the newest room. Service, as before, was great. Attentiveness of the staff made it a great early evening dining experience. Thanks for all of the improvements."

So, something that would have been great hot is now only so-so, and certainly not worth the money. For example, my double espresso and crab cake and fries were only luke warm.   • "Unaware of "Restaurant Week" we had a reservation and arrived about 10 minutes early. We were not seated for another 40 minutes with no apologies from the staff. We could see and hear chaos all around. The noise level was overwhelming. There were 4 in our party and we were seated at the large round table located right outside the kitchen. We felt like we were in the way. Our bread / butter arrived but no plates. Water came much later. On the whole the food was good, not great. The grilled shrimp served on the salad appeared to have been grilled many hours before and were not only cold but dry. Needless to say, this was not our best dining experience."

  • "One should really explore the amazing restaurants participating in Baltimore County's Restaurant Week but we find it hard to stray from Michael's always excellent offerings. After searching through the BCRW website, we found that Michael's easily offered the best bang for your buck. Oysters Chesapeake and Shrimp and Grits started us off in the right direction. Beef Wellington and Filet Oscar were tasty, well portioned entrees. Apple Dumpling A La Mode offered the perfect ending to a perfect meal. There are many reasons to keep returning to Michael's but excellent food aside, their great team always finds a way of making you feel right at home, even during their busiest times of the year."

  • "Michael's cafe is absolutely delicious. Beautiful new bar opened and a gorgeous patio about to me completed. This was our first time dining with them and it was top notch. Crab cakes are the best I've had since I've been here and the steaks were cooked perfect! The staff was friendly and very attentive. We will definitely be going back and would recommend this to everyone."
