  • "The atmosphere at Michelangelo's is very nice--great, comfortable bar area, very refined dining area, truly a pleasurable experience in Little Italy. Our server was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wines offered, but I would have appreciated a few helpful hints that might have allowed me to sample different items during my meal. For instance, the sauce on my pasta first course was identical to the sauce on my second course; I also started with a salad that turned out to be identical to the "field greens" served on the side of my entrée. All in all, everything was tasty and fresh, but I wish I had known about the overlap to avoid ordering similar items."

  • "Wife and I went there for an anniversary dinner. We shared a smoked salmon appetizer special that was outstanding. She had the crab stuffed trout and I had the veal. The food was delicious and perfectly prepared and the presentation was beautiful. Had a Stags Leap Cabernet with dinner (I picked, can you tell?!!). The ambiance was upscale with temp controlled wine racks throughout the restaurant. The bar was really appealing, though we did not spend anytime there. Service was timely and unobtrusive. Recommend and will return."

  • "Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience last Saturday. There were four of us and I'll only speak to my meal. Our server was delightful but made an error with my wine which was not fixed and she was not knowledgeable about an ingredient in one of the entrees. The spinach salad was the best part of the dinner despite the very long and tough stems and minuscule strawberry pieces. The dressing was very good. I ordered Pappardelle Alla Bolognese and it had either been in a steam table or under a warming light for a good amount of time - very, very dry and tasteless. What a huge disappointment especially considering the cost."

  • "Ordered the eggplant terrine expecting to see the eggplant somewhere in it. It was so loaded with tomato Ragu that it appeared very unappetizing. No presentation skill at all. Just a big lump of ragu. Ordered the sautéed squid. The chewy tasteless rubber bands were floating in a sauce of some kind. Impossible to eat. Server didn't return to ask if everything was ok. Decided the wine and tiramisu were the only good items on menu. Will choose another restaurant next time."

Sara was our lead server and she and the team were outstanding in every way! We were catching up with some friends and we had an outstanding dining experience on March 14, 2014. The service quality matched the quality of the ambiance and the food."

  • "Very disappointed with a $50 dish of "lobster risotto". I've had risotto dozens of times. When made properly, it's creamy, flavorful, and luxurious. The dish served to me would be better described as "lobster with sauce on rice". There is a HUGE difference between risotto and a regular rice dish. My risotto was served on a dinner plate rather than a bowl due to the fact that it had no creaminess or liquidity. Bland rice was just piled up in clumps, then completely drenched with rubbery lobster pieces in a thick spicy sauce. It looked & tasted nothing like an Italian risotto. It was taken off the bill, but I wasn't offered the chance to order a different entree, which was very disappointing since I hardly ate anything on the plate."

  • "My boyfriend and I came to Michaelangelo's with high expectations based on online reviews and personal recommendations. We were impressed with the atmosphere and decor but the food left us wishing we made a different choice for our monthly date night. I will spare all the details of the food unpleasantries, just to say from apps to dessert "something" seemed to be off. Our server was very efficient but came and went quickly between courses. We understood that she was managing the last few tables alone. When dessert was presented by a completely different person, we were less forgiving of the lack of attention from the group service concept. We finished the night at the beautiful fireplace."

  • "The owner's 9 year old boy is a charming extra host. He opened the door when we arrived. Asked to check us in. He came to the table later in the evening to visit. Quite extraordinary. The food was great. One of us requested pasta puttenesca which was not on the menu but the chef was happy to accommodate on a busy Saturday night and it was delicious. Once a big party near us left, it was easier to hear each other. Even when replaced with two tables of 4, it was possible to hear. A complimentary glass of prosecco was brought as a birthday surprise. A dessert would have been more welcome as we'd already had plenty to drink by that point in the meal! Still the gesture was appreciated."

Great food, fun and vibrant atmosphere and really a cool place. Huge turn off since the waitress we had (cannot recall her name but wears glasses and is incredibly rude so you can't miss her). My mother and girfiend will never return. I might give it a second chance since the other waiter we had was phenomenal."

The food forpeople would be a 5 star rating, but all in our party have eaten extensively in Italy and Europe and are accustom to fantastic food. The clam and mussel appetizers were out of this world. We were pleased that the calamari was sautéed, but the sauce was not as spicy as we are all accustomed to. All of our main dishes were very good. Would definitely go back and take family or business customers."

The food was very good and portions plentiful. Great wine list with a good range of prices. We really enjoyed the ambience. While quite full by the end of our dinner, it was still quiet enough for easy conversation. the lighting is romatic without being so dark you're struggling to read menus. Our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. Definitely want to return and try more of the dishes since I had such a tough time deciding."

Service was fine but the food was average at best and over-priced for what it was... Was looking for a great experience and while it was far from poor, it was well below expectations and not somewhere we would return."
