Diner Reviews
  • "Food was just ok. West siders can have equal quality at Stinos or Bruno's. But going to the hill is cool."

  • "So I ordered the rack of lamb, which tasted like a candy cane with candy cane sugar. I bit one, gave my husband a bite of one, and my son a bite of one. My server asked if I liked the lamb, and I told her it was way, way too sweet and didn't have any lamb taste at all, and it was clearly overcooked. There was no pink at all. She shrugged, asked if I wanted to take it and the overcooked risotto home, I said no. She took it away, never apologized, got a manager, and charged me for it. Our bill was almost 200$ so it's not like I was looking for a free meal with my 70$ wine. My husband and son loved their food, but I don't go back to places with bad service."

  • "We were looking forward to our first dining experience at Michaelangelo's. We had gotten rave reviews from a friend who has given them lots of business. The menu is impressive and sounds delicious. Presentation was nice, flavors well blended and appealing. BUT, it was as if everything had been prepared well in advance and had become dried out and overcooked. One of us had the steak special and gave it rare reviews. It was apparent that our server was having a bad night and wanted to be anywhere but there serving us. Her assistants were lovely and seemed to be overcompensating for her attitude."

  • "This was our second time at Michaelangelo's and will always be at the top of our dining list whenever we visit Cleveland. Food is excellent, particularly the salmon on risotto, which we split as an entree which was perfect. Some of the entrees are on the large size. I could make a meal out of the fresh bread served with dinner. Excellent wine list, ambience, and very friendly staff. Noise level was minimal, as well, a must for my wife and I. You will not be disappointed."

  • "Michaelangelos is a gem. The food is always first rate, the service impeccable. It manages to be both relaxed and upscale at the same time. The specials are usually quite special, often with local herbs and other treats. Recommended as one of Cleveland's absolute bests."

  • "The Best northern Italian in Cleveland. The staff is fantastic. The Chef and owner Michael has put together a Gem!! Assistant manager, John wants and does make your diner a very special event."

  • "This time was a birthday event.. and the 2nd time was just as wonderful as the first. Becoming a favorite"

  • "Great food in an environment that was great for social intergration. Service was beyond excellent. Would encourage others to venture to Little Italy to experience this treasure."

  • "The table was more than ready when we arrived. Unfortunately the view (only view) was that of the parking lot. The service was only a good. The bread service was only one piece of bread and nobody asked us if wanted more. The food was excellent, however, for just pasta dishes, the portions were a bit small. Overall, it was an excellent dining experience, but could be improved."

  • "Food was pricey. One person had veal and needed a knife to cut it. One person had osso bucco which did not fall off the bone."
    Dined on 6/27/2014
  • "We had a fabulous dinner with wonderful service. The seafood pasta and lobster ravioli were the best I have had. For dessert we had an amazing chocolate peanut butter napoleon. We also had a crème brule that was tasty but did not have enough crunchiness on top. Would definitely come back."
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "My wife and I celebrated our anniversary there, recently. The food was fantastic. Stuffed chicken breast and vegetable ravioli arrived at our table hot and looking delectable. Wine choices were extensive and our choosing did not disappoint. Emily our server was attentive and sweet. We will undoubtedly return many times!"

  • "This is a small restaurant that tries to be quite high end. The prices are high end but the food and service don't quite make it. The menu is large for a small restaurant. I don't think they can do it justice on this scale. The wine list is very good. The night we were there there was just one server for all the tables. At times she seemed a bit harried and the service suffered."
    Dined on 6/25/2014
  • "We had the duck which was excellent and the scampi-stuffed ravioli which were outstanding. The service was a little slow and impersonal. We will definitely go back."

  • "WE HAVE HAD MANY MEMORABLE MEALS AT MICHAELANGELOS AND DECIDED TO CELEBRATE OUR 50TH ANNIVERSARY AT THE RESTAURANT WITH OUR SON AND HIS FAMILY. MY WIFE'S RACK OF LAMB WAS, TO SAY THE LEAST, VERY WELL DONE. I HAD TO REMIND OUR SERVER FOR A LARGE SPOON TO EAT MY PASTA DISH WITH AND HAD TO ASK FOR PARMESIAN CHEESE WITH MY DISH- THESE ARE OFFERED IN THE LEAST SPAGHETTI JOINTS WITHOUT ASKING. TO BE FAIR, SEVERAL OF OUR FRIENDS WERE AT THE RESTAURANT THE SAME NIGHT AND RAVED ABOUT THE FOOD ESPECIALLY THE RACK OF LAMB. "

  • "The best restaurant we've been to in a very long time. Highly recommended. The menu is so good, you want to come back to try more options."
    Dined on 6/6/2014
  • "This is approximately the sixth time that my wife and I have dined at Michaelangelos and we have never had any negative feelings about this restaurant. It is undoubtably one of the premier restaurants in Cleveland. We come to Cleveland every 3 months to be checked at the Cleveland Clinic and this establishment is our favorite."
    Dined on 6/1/2014
  • "We enjoyed the restaurant. All the dishes were good including the salads. It was a little expensive for the non pasta entrees. They have white table cloths which is nice, but they were stained and had crumbs on them which isn't"
    Dined on 5/31/2014
  • "While the place was not busy, it took a very long time to have our meal. The food was outstanding while the service was inattentive and slow."

  • "Also, options for half-portions, in order to try numerous dishes. Veal tortellinis with pancetta are just terrific ! Urbanspoon classify the pricey but couldn't say it was that much."

  • "excellent italian dinner, wonderful menu and service. Looking forward to our next visit. "

  • "We have dined here several times and found our meal on our most recent visit to be outstanding. All dishes made with the freshest ingredients, wonderful presentation and simply delicious."

  • "I took my mother to Michaelangelo's for Mother's Day. It was our first time trying this restaurant, and we had had many positive reviews from friends about the food. The food was good. The service was terrible. I do have to say the young lady taking care of our water and bread was great, but our waitress, Cassie, was rude, inattentive, had a poor attitude, and almost felt condescending. Of the two hours we were there, she spent at least an hour of that time at another table conversing with other patrons. Our food took an extrordinarily long time to come to our table, and I was watching tables around us who all got their food in a good amount of time. I am really sad this happened, as I spent a lot of money and wanted a nice time for mom."

  • "Hands down the best Italian fine dining restaurant in Little Italy. NOTE: It's not on the main strip if Little Italy but who cares. All handmade pasta's, fresh ingredients and great wine list. Great for any occasion! I took my Mom for Mother's Day and she loved it! Well done M's!"

  • "WE CHOSE MICHAELANGELOS BECAUSE THE ONLINE MENU LOOKED DELICIOUS, REMINISCIENT OF SOME OF THE RESAUTANTS IN WHICH WE ATE IN ITALY; ROME, FLORENCE, & VENICE. THE WINE, FOOD, AMBIANCE WERE DELIGHTFUL!"

  • "This is a gem of an Italian restaurant - great food, lovely setting, and a lovely staff - I highly recommend it."

  • "I had the duck and my wife had scallops. Both meals were beyond our expectation. We have been here at least 6 times and always have had a remarkable experience. This chef is the absolute best. We drive 1 1/2 hours to get here. It is well worth it."

  • "The restaurant is delightful. The service and drinks superb. All the food is laden with fat, cream and mushrooms. Boo! Our server Matt was adorable, attentive and knowledgeable. Very pricey. Better choices in the area"

  • "The atmosphere at Michelangelo's is very nice--great, comfortable bar area, very refined dining area, truly a pleasurable experience in Little Italy. Our server was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wines offered, but I would have appreciated a few helpful hints that might have allowed me to sample different items during my meal. For instance, the sauce on my pasta first course was identical to the sauce on my second course; I also started with a salad that turned out to be identical to the "field greens" served on the side of my entrée. All in all, everything was tasty and fresh, but I wish I had known about the overlap to avoid ordering similar items."
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "while the food was very well prepared, the service was so slow as to make the experience less than ideal. also for the menu prices the $5 tab for valet parking seems petty"
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience last Saturday. There were four of us and I'll only speak to my meal. Our server was delightful but made an error with my wine which was not fixed and she was not knowledgeable about an ingredient in one of the entrees. The spinach salad was the best part of the dinner despite the very long and tough stems and minuscule strawberry pieces. The dressing was very good. I ordered Pappardelle Alla Bolognese and it had either been in a steam table or under a warming light for a good amount of time - very, very dry and tasteless. What a huge disappointment especially considering the cost."

  • "Wife and I went there for an anniversary dinner. We shared a smoked salmon appetizer special that was outstanding. She had the crab stuffed trout and I had the veal. The food was delicious and perfectly prepared and the presentation was beautiful. Had a Stags Leap Cabernet with dinner (I picked, can you tell?!!). The ambiance was upscale with temp controlled wine racks throughout the restaurant. The bar was really appealing, though we did not spend anytime there. Service was timely and unobtrusive. Recommend and will return."

  • "Ordered the eggplant terrine expecting to see the eggplant somewhere in it. It was so loaded with tomato Ragu that it appeared very unappetizing. No presentation skill at all. Just a big lump of ragu. Ordered the sautéed squid. The chewy tasteless rubber bands were floating in a sauce of some kind. Impossible to eat. Server didn't return to ask if everything was ok. Decided the wine and tiramisu were the only good items on menu. Will choose another restaurant next time."

  • "An upscale menu and chic atmosphere. The Ossobuco was excellent and on a Monday it was a great choice with my out of town business client."
