The dishes are very creative, perhaps to a fault. When dining at establishments like MM's I sometimes feel my choices are significantly limited by some of the strange combinations and I certainly felt that way about the cuisine at MM's. If I loved polenta, sea urchin and the like, my experience might have been heightened. Excellent food and very crisp service. The dining room is quite large with high ceilings and the decor is modern. The bar looked busy from our seats.
As it was a Saturday night every other table in our section (near the front) was a birthday party but there were a number of large dinner parties out on the floor. There were many relatively young diners (50% of the room was probably in their thirties) making for an energetic feel.

For my taste, the service errs — just a little — on the side of being both too relaxed and too intrusive, but the food, all eleven courses of it (the nine-course tasting menu with some bonuses), was impeccable, as were the wine pairings. I previously had dinner there a few weeks back with my girlfriend and friends. The interior is very cool, the service is excellent, the food is excellent, and the drinks were excellent. There's no ambiance in any personal sense, other than it's a good and cool place to eat. Sadly I found the fat on the Pork Belly fell far short of the deliciousness that I order Pork Belly for - in fact it was inedible. Wait staff would always allow a guest to pass, multiple people seamlessly and quietly attended to our needs thorough the evening, and my custom cocktail was spectacular. In the Zagat world I would give this restaurant a 27 food rating (out of 30) and it could be higher if we tried a few more dishes. $300 with tip and tax and several cocktails. The food is good, but what really sets Michael Mina apart was the service and the pacing of the meal. It was perfectly timed so we never waited but were never rushed. All the wait staff was so knowledgeable about the food and gave great recommendations. The fish, hanger steaks were all done to perfection, excellent presentation; even it is a lunch menu. We are also surprsed by the prices; which are competitive and within most business lunch budget. It is not crowded, obviously overlooked by many lunchgoers because of the "high price" tag associated with Michael Mina. Definitely will be our favorate lunch place for business meetings and special occasions. By the way, the brewed coffee is exquisite, the aroma is impossible to resist, and they give you a small jar.
