Food is good but not great and featuring a root beer float after a dinner with wine may be exciting to some but not appealing to us. Size of appetizers and entree on smallish side. Major negative is the 3.5 times increase of wine which then you have to pay sales tax on. I had the Vegetarian Tasting Menu, the standout dishes for me were the cauliflower soup and the fennel tortellini with citrus brown butter sauce - the flavours were perfectly well balanced and I was left wanting more.
The root beer float was my favourite of the 3 desserts. The panna cotta was my least favourite as it was a little to sweet for me, but it was still enjoyable.
The service was great, very attentive, friendly and helpful. I was dining alone and little concerned I might feel awkward, but I needn't have worried. I frequent the San Francisco location, but this was my third time to this particular Michael Mina. I was served by the same sommeiler and the waiter as last year. They were still down to earth, friendly, & professional. Not too common at your high end restaurant where you can feel a bit of arrogance & pretentiousness from the staff.
Had the five course tasting menu. Tuna tartar, lobster pot pie (Concoction of vegetables & lobster infused in rich bisk), scallop, steak skirt (one of the most flavorful, tender and juicy you'll ever find in Vegas), and collage of three Michael Mina signature desserts which creates a masterpiece in your taste buds. We were very warmly welcomed to a nice table in the centre and the service throughout the meal was attentive and helpful. The food experience was extremely rewarding, beautifully presented and executed. The dishes we chose were the sampler tasting appetizer all of which were delightful.We then chose the sole with topping crust and the lobster pot. The latter was served at the table in a flurry of delivery and was as delicious as the sole. The taster dessert plate was as magnificent as the others before. Not to forget the lovely bellini and cucumber vodka cocktails ! This was our first time dining at Michael Mina in Las Vegas, and it was a most wonderful and memorable evening. Located off the beautiful atrium of the Bellagio hotel, we stepped into the restaurant and were greeted by a chic bar with friendly, helpful staff. All the staff is to be commended on the personal care and attention we received, during a very busy evening. Especially memorable was the outstanding service from the Master Sommelier, Joseph Phillips. From our first experience at the bar throughout our entire dinner, he shared with us helpful information and offered a great selection of spirits and wine. Creative without being pretentious or strange. One of the best meals we ever had. The service staff never stop moving from table to table ensuring all guests have what they need. We had a beautiful table by the window overlooking the pools. The restaurant is located in the Bellagio right off the beautiful conservatory which adds to the ambiance. Although everything was great about our experience at Michael Mina's, the service was truely TRUELY OUTSTANDING. Sometimes in Las Vegas it seems that the people spending the most money get the best service, but even though my sister and I were not buying multiple bottles of expensive wine we got excellent service - our waiter and everyone else we interacted with went out of their way to be helpful and friendly (even though we were 20 mins late due to traffic!). You will love these choices and want more. Do enjoy the porterhouse for two...you'll wish you could chomp on the bone - it's that good, juicy, tasty, melts-in-your mouth...and if you have room, squeeze in the phyllo dole that was so delicate with a hint of citrus. The tortelini was good too but compared to the stars just mentioned, you'll know what to do. We dressed to the 9's and felt the food did the same, in looks and in taste. Scrumptious! P.S.
