Diner Reviews
  • "I went for a birthday dinner. the food was very good. The staff was friendly, they sung happy birthday and decorate a cake. Overall, very nice setting."

  • "Everything was amazing. From the service down to the classic grand central style hustle and bustle. Loved it."

  • "Great value for Restaurant Week lunch. Generous portion and good service. Food was delicious. My friend had Caesar saland and I had tomato with mozzarella. We both had the boneless ribeye - big lunch portion, good quality and tasty. There's enough steak leftover that both my friend and I took it home to make sandwiches for lunch the next day."

  • "the food was of good quality and the table service very good. nothing to complain about. The server was attentive and i was seated without issue though i was half an hour early. Well done. That's the good. The bad is that the hostess, at the front of the restaurant, before you enter the bar area is the worst. She was not welcoming, not pleasant and clearly had better things to do. thankfully everyone else was very nice."

  • "We went as part of restaurant week and we expected the quality of food to be better. Our starters were good, me and my friend both ordered the caesar salad, hers came with no croutons. Then we ordered the rib eye and the roast beef sandwich - both meats were extremely fatty and involved alot of cutting the fat out."

  • "Great view of Grand Central station from our balcony table! Steak was really good and portion size perfect (instead of the huge and wasteful amounts encountered in other places). As a tourist, this was a lovely treat."

  • "Food was okay, but me and my girlfriend didn't go to this place just for food. Started the 3 course meal with glasses of wine but one of them had a dead fruitfly floating in it. When we told this to the waiter he took it and got a new one for us right away, and he apologized. Then when the main dish came out some bus boy (not the waiter that was serving us) and gave us the food and just said "arigato". This was very offensive because not only did he not tell him we were Japanese but also neither of us are Japanese. I kind of regret not just getting up and leaving and paying for the fruit fly wine and the salad we had because we were so offended the food that we couldn't really enjoy the food that came after. I paid over $100 for this."

  • "The shrimp and crab cake appetizers were amazing. The bone-in rib eye was fantastic. As was the filet and the lobster. The broccoli, Mac n cheese, steak fries and sweet potato fries were really good. The only issue was the poor service we experienced with our "new waiter.""

  • "We went for our anniversary and ordered from the restaurant week menu. The place had breathtaking views of Grand Central with all the architecture. They were very accommodating with adjusting the reservations as we ran a bit late commuting from quite a distance. We were both highly impressed with our food. The gazpacho was cucumber based and so refreshing. Portions were generous. We wanted to add a side, and the waiter recommended the truffle creamed spinach. It was amazing!!! I don't think I can go back to eating regular creamed spinach anymore. Restaurant week menu was such a great deal. We will definitely be back again to celebrate special occasions or entertain out of town friends."

  • "My brother's family with two kids were in town. The kids asked for steak, so we took them to MJ for good dinner and a view. We chose to sit at the bar tables so that the kids can have a better view of the Grand Central. We loved the food. The only little surprise was that they did not have any beer on tap."

  • "This is the first restaurant I visited during the rastaurant week 2015. Food is not bad but not delicate enough. If you like to eat american steak, it will be recommanded."

  • "It was ok for restaurant week but do not come hungry.. very small portions, but you get what you pay for. Now the drinks were a bonus nice size glass priced perfectly."

  • "So...yeah not dining here ever again! We found a purple rubber band in our creamed spinach and the management poorly handled the situation. After telling our waiter about it we then had to wave him down so he could get the manager. You would think the manager would want to deal with a situation like that but instead he came over as if he was doing us a favor and offered us 'free dessert' which was already included in our prix fixe meal. Of course we did not want anymore food so paid our bill and left without the manager even offering us any explanation on how something so dangerous and disgusting could happen at a restaurant that 'prides' itself on quality and expensive food. I will never dine at a place with such horrible management"

  • "We had an overall good dining experience. The ambience is just shy of amazing--overlooking the hustle, bustle and beauty of Grand Central Terminal at the height of the evening rush hour--A priceless New York moment! Our food was outstanding the skirt steak was tender and flavorful and the crab cakes were moist and heart. We shared the mac and cheese and asparagus. Keep in mind, side dishes are for two or more something our server DID NOT tell us but we knew because our experience (he never asked us that either). The service we received from the staff other than our server was outstanding. For us, this is what made it a good experience instead of a great one."

  • "Great for lunch and very convenient-the food is pretty good here and very vibrant armosphere-entry way gets crowded-especially if you have reservations"

  • "I don't quite agree with the restaurant week concept as the special restaurant week offer is usually never the same as their regular menu, but my husband and I were in the area and decided to give it a try. I was pleased with the gazpacho...fresh and delicious. Unfortunately, their filet mignon was overly seasoned with pepper leading me to believe they were trying to conceal the grainy taste of what appeared to be an "omaha steak" select cut of meat. The twice baked potato served with the filet looked, felt and tasted more like quadruple baked. The strawberry shortcake dessert was bleh. They have better cakes at Shoprite. Overall, the meal felt and tasted precooked, frozen and reheated under food lamps. Stick to the regular menu."

  • "Who would have thought that dining inside Grand Central Terminal would be very pleasant and appealing with panoramic views of the interior? Service and food were also top-notched. A definite return on the way to the train!"

  • "We had a spectacular time. Given it's location, it was extremely pleasurable! True gem within Grand Central!"

  • "Overpriced for the quality and ambiance. Asked for a steak medium well, came out blood red in middle, outside burnt. Very noisy, although expected in Grand Central, service just ok, not what should be for this kind of restaurant"

  • "The food was faultless! The service however didn't live up to my expectations. Whilst our waiter was quick, he was too quick. The second that he cleared our plates away from our main course, he immediately gave us the dessert menu. No opportunity for a break / rest between courses. And dessert arrived within 2 minutes of ordering it. We felt hurried. Also, the waiter was not at all engaging. We felt like he didn't really want to be there."

  • "Selected Michael Jordan's for both the food and ambiance. It was my husbands 1st trip to NYC so I wanted him to see Grand Central. I had dined here before and knew the food was excellent. We were not disappointed! We got a balcony table as requested so we could see the rush of people to their trains while we enjoyed our food."

  • "My 17 year old son, a Norwegian basketball player, wanted to visit Michaels restaurant on our last night in NY. We were granted the Jordan booth, his personal spot, where Michaels mother had just visited a couple days earlier. We had the Fresh Chilled Shellfish Platter and of course the Bone-In New York Strip. The dessert was also a delightfull experience. Awesome food and service in this historic place the Grand Central. We will revisit!"

  • "The location is very nice in this hall, a beautiful ambience. But the steak (New York Strip - 47$!!) was stringy! The potatoes tasted a bit fishy. We will never come back."

  • "Went for dinner with guests in town. Chose it for the view and central location. Prices are what to expect from a steakhouse in Manhattan...think $125+ per person if you have apps, entrees and wine. Good was generally pretty tasty. I had the bone-in rib-eye but the boneless option my guests had looked a bit better. My steak had rested a bit too long. Wine selection is reasonable. Red wine was served at too low of temperature (chilly) and never really opened up despite breathing a bit. Ordered a different bottle for the second and got an even colder bottle. Was told it was the ambient heat that was forcing them to over chill. Overall a good experience but not yet a favorite."

  • "Our first family holiday since our children left home so we wanted a treat. Jordan's was recommended by a friend who we must thank. Great food, attentive friendly service and unique location made this a very special evening indeed. My son and I shared the "tomahawk" steak which was unbelievably good but SO big! My wife and daughter settled for something smaller but insisted it was wonderful too."

  • "Went here as we were told it was kid friendly.. It was but did not have a kids menu. Managed to find something on the menu that did the trick. Both my partners' and my steak were great but my steak was a little over done whereas my partners was perfect. We requested a table by the balcony, which we got. Ambience was great."

  • "We went to this Grand Central Station restaurant at 6:30- still in the rush hour so it would be nicer to pick a weekend. The salads were huge and tasty. I wish the menu had a salad with steak in it because a regular steak would be too heavy. I had a lobster roll which was ok and my husband had tuna steak which he liked. But the best thing about the restaurant is its setting."

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed Jordan's. The food was excellent with generous portions. The services was top notch and friendly. It was a special occasion dinner, we requested a table overlooking the concourse - the view was terrific! A definite NYC experience not to be missed."

  • "Jordan's is set in the spectacular main hall at Grand Central Station. A very warm welcome, brisk attentive and unobtrusive service, with delicious well cooked food. Don't miss their "signature" NY Strip steak - as good as meat gets. Everything about our dining experience was positive - We love MJ@GCSNY"

  • "convenient for trains. Setting is cool overlooking GCT. Menu is a little tired and the specials could use some creativity. The food is certainly good but will not wow you."

  • "The filet mignon as well as the side dishes were excellent!"
    Dined on 6/10/2014
  • "Although convenient to meet or say farewell to travelers at GC the food and service needs major adjustments. Several mishaps in order taking and having to flag down servers to correct them became laughable quickly. Food quality was only fair but portions were adequate. Ambiance is notable if seated along the railing... View of the hustle and bustle of commuters and the like is never tiring."

  • "I went with my grilfriend who has never been to Michael Jordan's. She likes her steak very soft, tender, juicy and medium cooked, so I told her that Michael Jordan cooks excellent steaks. I was right, she enjoyed her Filet Mignon and so did I. The only complaint she gave me was that they rush you out of the restaurant. The bill was put on our table immediately after we ate our dinner and we did not take any deserts. The waiter came around twice to take our bill. My girlfriend ate everything and was just digesting her food, she ate too much, she did not want to be rushed out of the restaurant. "

  • "I go here at least 3 times a month if not more because of the service, location and quality of food. You can't beat the location in midtown for proximity to everything and ease for everyone to get here because it's so central. The food is great - typical steakhouse; I only gave it 4 stars (not 5) because the menu doesn't change much. One of my favorite things is the fast track menu which gets me in and out in under an hour and is reasonably priced. My secret tip: ask for a table at the edge with the view over the concourse but you have to reserve in advance because it's popular, perfect for people watching."

  • "Reliably good, and the salmon is also wonderful. The feeling of openness above Grand Central's main concourse is a delight and, surprise!, not noisy -- more of a city hum."

  • "This was my second time to MJ's in 2 weeks. The "Fast Track" lunch is a good deal. The second time the steak was not great - with big pieces of warm fat and not charred as advertised. But still a good deal. You CAN hear your table mate and GCT cannot be beat for the view. I will be back and hope for better luck. "
