Diner Reviews
  • "Dinner was most excellent. We had the salmon and bonless rib-eye. It was all to die for. The vegatables were perfecrly cooked. The server, Julio, was attentative and kept us laughing with light bantor and jokes. Will return before summer is over. "

  • "Short but quality menu. Very high quality food and excellent, attentive service. Small selection of beer but not a disaster. Steaks and sides where outstanding, but you pay for it. "

  • "A sleek and sophisticated welcome was given upon our arrival. The request for a table overlooking the concourse was noted and more importantly, provided. Service was impeccable, and the steaks were the best we have had. The waiter advised us regarding portion sizes and sides, so that we didn't over order. This was truly the best way he could have sprint his birthday evening. I would highly recommend this restaurant. "

  • "Went with my wife for lunch prior to a midtown meeting and we both were extremely impressed with the food and service. I've been there many times for business meetings, but this turned out to be memorable for the food. Great salmon - in fact best I've ever had - service was excellent - attentive and respectful of fact that we had a timing issue. Will definitely return."

  • "Every time I visit New York I stop in Grand Central Station. My favorite bar is there - Campbell Apartment - and this place serves a mighty fine meal. Steak, fries, green beans all prepared perfectly with the ambiance of hurried people in the train station who never seem to bump into each other (except for the tourists with their cameras). Only one gripe and one quibble. The gripe is the service is always maddeningly slow. The quibble is: no baked potatoes on the menu, seriously?!? There are better places to enjoy a steak in New York, but there aren't many of them."

  • "Portions and food was excellent. We had a great time and experience. We were disappointed that they were out of lobster roll but the prawns made up for it. They were so good."

  • "The Bone-In Sirloin was the best steak I've ever had...and I've had quite a few. Bravo! Dining in the heart of Grand Central Station makes everything even more special. Terrific service too."

  • "This was my third trip to this restaurant and while my previous two experiences were very good this one was not. While the service was good and attentive, the hot appetizer and my soup arrived lukewarm. I have previously ordered steaks which were cooked perfectly. This time my boneless spencer steak came medium well and when I showed the waiter he called over the manager. The manager insisted that I cut the steak in half to see if the middle was medium rare (which it was not). They did bring another steak cooked the right way but this should have been done automatically. The lobster roll that my companion ordered was full of lobster meat but it was very tough. Such a shame as it has always been a positive dining experience."

  • "I would recommend eating here. The food, service and staff were all lovely. Don't let the thought of its location put you off. It's a wonderful & not that noisy experience."

  • "A good place to stop from CT to Grand Central o Philharmonic on West side. Clam soup disappointing - salty, hard to find clams but lots of carrots. Tuna tartar fine. Bread not very interesting. Other meals have been better. Connie"

  • "Had the best time. The Waiter Staff are Perfection; the Food was over the Top. Will be back again most certain."

  • "The food was excellent and the portions were a good size. The location is great and despite being above the concourse at Grand Central not too noises. Our only slight disappointment was with the staff who whilst professional were it very friendly and then asked if I wanted my change despite a gratuity being included in the bill. We would definitely go again for the food even though it is expensive - but that's just NYC"

  • "The $89 porter house for 2 was tough, fatty and full of gristle. Really MJ? You should take your name off the place or improve it to your standards"

  • "You have a fast lunch, you need to catch a train at a certain hour. This is the option, you have a all you need in one place."

  • "You can't beat the atmosphere at Michael Jordan's steakhouse inside Grand Central Station. The restaurant sits above the main concourse. Ask for a table along the railing. You can watch people come and go and the architecture is magnificent. The food was excellent. Had steaks, asparagus, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese (which was especially outstanding) and dessert. The décor of the restaurant is upscale with a train theme. A few (3 that I saw) photos of Michael Jordan playing basketball but this is not a sports grill - no memorabilia (just the photos) and no tv - it's a fine steakhouse. Had a very good experience there - myself, husband and teens age 13 and 17. It is pricey but no more so than the other steak places in NYC."

  • "I was hesitant to go to MJs because the last experience left much to be desired. So so service and meh food. Pleasantly surprised by my most recent experience. Filet was delicious-- no steak sauce needed. Lyonnaise potatoes were delish too! Dessert fell a little flat-- baked alaska. Service was very good."

  • "This was a great dining experience for us on a Saturday evening when the restaurant is actually way less crowded than during the week. Seating is in the mezzanine which takes you above the noise of the travelers. Lovely atmosphere and architecture. Great food and superior service. Highly recommended!"

  • "Honestly the worst part of the meal was the steak. My cousin and I both had tons of fat and grizzle all over the steak.... It felt like we were performing an autopsy just to eat it!"

  • "Went there with girlfriends from London, mainly for the view. The $25 menu was outstanding value and the 3 courses were unanimously praised, particularly the seared salmon. I thought this might be a tourist hot spot and disappointing, but it was quite the opposite - a winner! I'd definitely go again and would recommend it!"

  • "Perfect for a planned dinner get together, a romantic night out or just an after work to unwind hot spot. The atmosphere is picture perfect on the second floor for a sit down dinner facing the beautiful Grand Central Station. The entrance from inside GC is the bar area perfect for the after work crowd. The atmosphere is professional and friendly. The service we had for dinner was wonderful, fast and friendly infact the whole staff was excellent! We had an assortment of fish dishes cooked to perfection. The wine list was very nice and we had a wonderful time. If I had to complain about anything, it would be the dessert. I was hoping for something other than ice cream, a creme brulee perhaps? Just a suggestion :-)"

  • "My Husband said he wanted to go to a New York Steak House so I found this one on the internet and booked for our Saturday night meal out in New York and we were not disappointed. Service was very good, and the food was amazing. We had Crab Cakes to start, the crab cake was stuffed with crab meat which is unusal in the UK! and I had the burger and my husband had the rib eye steak which was massive and a few sides which were all very tasty! The table was over looking the station so it was a great atmosphere, loads going on on a saturday night! . All in all a great experience, great food and a great night. Not cheap though. good night out!"

  • "Lovely venue in beautiful, historical Grand Central Station. excellent and friendly service, great food and bread basket. Minor, but thought desert choice in Restaurant week could have been a bit more extensive than the choice of sorbet or pear with ice cream."

  • "Pros Crab cake appetizer Restaurant week availability Steak was cooked well Great timing with the courses Remembered to bring red wine with the steak Cons Out of the wine I wanted from the list Out of the whisky my boyfriend wanted Lobster wasn't very moist Waiters somewhat inattentive There should be a disclosure that this "restaurant" is open to grand central station. You can hear everything going on down there as you sit on the "balcony" eating. Really unpleasant when we could have gone somewhere romantic with a better ambiance. Definitely wouldn't come here again unless I was stuck in grand central craving an expensive steak meal."

  • "For all my years going through Grand Central, I had not taken the opportunity to dine at Michael Jordans. We were in the area looking for a place to eat and decided why not inside GCT. It was a great experience, We chose the Fixed menu which was excellent and the view and ambience was perfect!"

  • "Went with some friends for Saturday 3/8/14 lunch/brunch. All had steaks. I had the sirloin steak. Large portion & cooked perfectly to my liking, it was delicious. Everyone at the table was very happy with their steaks. Sides were large enough to share. Service was very good, wait staff attentive, and we were not rushed. View was fun; sitting out on the balcony looking over the masses in Grand Central Station. Surprisingly not loud, table was able to have a conversation with no problem. I would have thought otherwise. Interior architecture just gorgeous to take in. Lunch/brunch menu's do not have as big of a selection as I would have thought. Would go back to try dinner menu. Hanging at bar looks like it would be fun later in the day."

  • "This was certainly not worthy of the price. It was relatively empty on a Saturday night (should have been a clue). The service was not good and food was just OK but the price was high for food that was just OK. I eat in NYC at least once a week and will not recommend this to any of my friends or colleagues."

  • "Restaurant week menu was uninspiring. My main entree was fine but the appetizer selection could have been a better than lentil soup or salad (crab cakes was not a option for me) . Dessert was very dissatisfying. The chocolate pudding was really a banana bread with chocolate scoop of ice cream. And it was not even worth the calories, no chocolate only raisins. The waiter brought me milk for my herbal chamomile tea and the wrong coffee order for my husband. Waiter insisted that he was right. I recommend this place strictly for cocktails."

  • "I had an excellent experience during Restaurant Week in NY. I had been wanting a good rib eye for a while. I was pleasantly pleased with the whole experience. I am legally blind and my server observed that and offered to read and explain the menu to me. I was not expecting that. The food came and the presentation was good. Being on a fixed income I could not give the server the tip I wanted to but I did want to say that his service was excellent."

  • "Finally had a chance to try Michael Jordan's and it was a huge disappointment. Service was not great. Crab cake came out cold. Told the guy, but he didn't say anything. Waiter never asked how we were doing. Steak was four slices heated up. Good quality food if it was made to order. Dessert was presented nicely, but then again it was a scoop of vanilla ice cream in a chilled/cooked pear. Would not go back. Lots of other great steak places around."

  • "My husband and I went to this restaurant for restaurant week. The hostess was confused and started whispering to the other hostess. They sat us in what probably wasn't the seat we were supposed to be put in. My husband ordered raspberry sorbet for dessert. He got mango sorbet instead. There's no excuse for confusing red with yellow, besides the fact that I am allergic to mango. My entrée was scallops which were good. The chocolate bread pudding I ordered for dessert was inedible. Something was going on with the staff while we were eating dinner. It was obvious that there was something going on. It totally killed the mood of being out to a nice dinner. I would never recommend this restaurant or return."

  • "Filet......awesome.....cooked to perfection...mac n cheese...yummy......gorgonzola fondue with garlic bread....to die for!.....great atmosphere...right inside grand central station......the only downside were the bus boys swarming our table constantly.....a little uncomfortable."

  • "It was part of Restaurant Week, and we wanted something different for my sister's birthday, along with having a taste for a good steak. Didn't expect it to be in Grand Central Station - which was very cool and a great way to see a NYC landmark. Great atmosphere, great service."
    Dined on 3/2/2014
  • "The service was speratic, it was hard to tell who was the waiter at times. We weren't told the specials. We don't know if we were being served by a new waiter or not but he seemed very nervous. The atmosphere was great, there were not too many people eating at the time so it was really hard to understand why we constantly had to go looking for service. We probably would go back but it's definetly not on the top of our list."

  • "After clicking on the participating restaurants on the Open Table website, I came to Michael Jordan's . I clicked on dinner and selected a time, 3PM. Since it was Sunday, I figured a 3PM dinner was normal, why would you click on dinner and be able to select 3PM. We found out upon arrival that the Restaurant did not open until 5PM and that all patrons were served in the bar area and the menu was for lunch. After advising the waiter we were going to leave, the manager came over and offered us the Restaurant Week menu, with a few exceptions. The cost was pricy for the small portions and eating in the bar area was not my idea of a NYC steakhouse dinner."
