I was hesitant to choose a celebrity restaurant, and was very pleasantly surprised at every turn. The hostesses were very accommodating for the wheelchair user in our party and couldn't have been nicer or more considerate. The restaurant itself is beautiful, but our server was the best part. I wish that I knew his name. Suffice it to say he is a heavy set Italian man with glasses and a serious passion for food and service. It was my fiance's birthday and our server, JC, went above and beyond. The steak was absolutely delicious, we got the porterhouse for two (filet mignon and NY strip); I don't remember enjoying steak that much in a long time. The sides, french fries with three dipping sauces, and carmelized onions, complimented so well. Lastly, the 23 layer chocolate cake is just so cool you have to get it. The restaurant is beautiful, but we did wish there were more memorabilia from Jordan. I was skeptical about the garlic bread, because come on, how can it be That good? But it was. It was baked squares topped with a light cheese sauce. Definitely follow the recommendations for this one.
Also, I had the onion soup. Usually people fail to make the broth well, but theirs had a lot of rich flavor. I was actually impressed.

My daughter did not have a separate entree but was able to enjoy the meal. Prior to choosing MJ's Steakhouse, I read select reviews and the dining experience seemed contingent on your server; contrary to what was read, our needs were met by more than one person i.e., recommendations were made, our glasses were filled, and our daughter was given stickers, and a coloring sheet.
Since becoming a mom, I notice where we are seated in restaurants; this was refreshingly different. Patrons and staff took the time to compliment our daughter. In a city full of good steak houses, this may be the best. The waiter was knowledgeable and attentive; in fact the service was superb. I ordered the Delmonico - a house specialty. It was perhaps best steak I have eaten in 10 or 15 years. The sides and appetizers were outstanding. Companion ordered fish and chicken and the reviews were all first rate. It was our first time at a steakhouse in Chicago.our original reservation time was 6:30 pm, but we called and changed it to 7:30 with no problem. Our waiter was very helpful in explaining all the dishes. We had the filet mignon, it was so good and tender you could cut it with your fork. The appetizers were amazing also, we had their garlic bread and their bacon, both were outstanding. Unfortunately, my eyes were bigger than my stomach and I decided that I had to get the 23 layer chocolate cake. I mean, everything had been amazing how could you go wrong with the signature dessert? The crab cakes are not stacked with breading - they're stuffed with crab! Excellent! The appetizers and the sides (3 types of mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts) were the best part. The steaks, of course, are outstanding, but it is the sides that really distinguish the menu. The garlic bread with buttermilk-blue cheese sauce is a must. Instead of sautéed spinach, try the mixed greens. The fries come spiced with 3 dipping sauces on the side. Filet was melt in your mouth perfect - service was outstanding. When I booked the reservation on line I mentioned we would be visiting for my (adult) daughters birthday celebration, that was the ONLY time I said anything about the birthday. When they brought us our cocktails, Lana made a point to ask my daughters name and wish her a happy birthday & upon bringing us the 23 layer chocolate cake for dessert they attached a candle to the plate and had her make a wish. It was very quaint and just perfect. We have been raving about it since & will be back the first chance we get. We ended up having a great dinner. The steak was right up there with the other top steakhouses, along with a good and reasonably priced wine list (for Chicago at least). The waiter was incredible. There was four of us so instead of getting 4 individual steaks we shared the porter house and the rib eye. The presentation made us the envy of the room. They spent lots of time with us recommending other local restaurants for our vacation. I have a disability the hostess went out of her way to hold a taxi for us. We are from Boston and we thought this restaurant was just as good if not better than our favorite steak hose Flemmings. I thought it would just be another hotel restaurant, but to find that we were sitting on the second floor and the bridge to walk over to the restaurant really set it apart from everything. I didn't notice that we were in the hotel until we had to pay for Valet. Valet service to retrieve is down stairs in the basement of the hotel.
