However the noise level in the room often made conversation with my friends difficult to the point where we had to ask each other to repeat ourselves. It didn't help that a group on the other side of the room clearly had too much to drink and were becoming increasingly loud. What a relief when they finally left.
I found the noise stressful. The food was top notch. The restaurant serves modern american food with a changing menu based on ingredients. I learned that from talking to our server, Will, who was fabulous. The service is classical french style. They also have a nice wine list with very reasonable prices. The service was attentive without being intrusive, the wine suggestions were great and the food was simply amazing. We did the 5 course tasting menu and each course was wonderful and inventive, using many very fresh, seasonal items. The foie gras ravioli with chicken liver ragu may have been one of the best things I have ever eaten, literally. Because of the price of our meal, this isn't an every day kind of place (for us), but we will certainly be looking for ANY excuse in the very near future to return. While every course was delicious, the outstanding dishes of the evening were the foi gras, the marrow ravioli, and the pork tenderloin. The amuse bouche and the complimentary chocolate truffles were a special treat.
