Mia FrancescaReal Portions!We've always enjoyed the Mia Francesca chain, but this was the first time we visited the one in Wrigleyville. My wife and I both agreed the food was better there than in the other "Mias." Our waiter knew the menu well, made a couple of suggestions and gave us plenty of time to consider our orders. The food was served hot, nicely presented and served promptly but not rushed. Portions were more than ample, quite a change(especially in pasta dishes) from the trend to shallow plates, small servings and heavy prices. Noise level was insane, as could be expected on a Saturday night. Next time, we may try the outdoor terrace. The only thing was that I made a reservation for 7:30, we arrived on time and our table wasn't ready yet, we waited for another 15 minutes before we were seated.
The restaurant on clark has 2 floors, the lower level was very loud, the 2nd level were we were sat, was very nice to have a conversation. The service was great, the plates are large portions. My friend and I split a pasta plate and we still had left overs.

We had a vegan in our group so the waiter pretty much let her make up her own dish. Actually most of us requested slight changes to the menu items after the waiter insisted we make any requests we wanted. The food was great when it came and extremely large portions, but the pasta was so delicious I had to force myself to stop eating. My one complaint was that the service seemed to drop off after our entrees were cleared. We received dessert menus and made decisions on items, but it took so long for the waiter to come back to take our dessert order that we just decided to forget it and get the check instead. We were seated promptly a few minutes before our reservation time. The place was alive and very crowded which made it a bit warm but that was part of the atmosphere. The food was a bit different than the southern Italian fare I'm used to but it was excellent.
The only problem were the huge portions. That is not normally a complaint I have! We split a salad and it was delicous. Our entrees could easily have served two. I just wish I could have taken the leftovers as the linguini dish I had was very tasty.
We chose this restaurant since it was close to theater we were going to (Briar Street/Blue Man Group). After some research, Mia Francesca had an extensive gluten free menu compared to other restaurants. My friend loved the calamari dish. Was very pleased they could accommodate her.
As for me, the Amatriciana was delicious. It was nice to be greated by Chris at the door - the hosts and management are always so friendly. The peapod salad is a usual favorite, but I opted for the special salad of the day which included heart of palm and avocado and was not disappointed. The pasta with extra vegetables was too good and too large a portion for me to finish. If we weren't heading to theater right after dinner I would have requested a doggie bag.
