Diner Reviews
  • "We have ordered Spaghetti and Penne Pomodoro but it came mexican style. That should never happen in an Italian restaurant."

  • "In the past I've had to pay extra for refills of lemonade, bit I've still come back. This Easter Sunday was the last time I will go to this restaurant. My party of 5 drove in from Pearland for a noon reservation. When I was greeted the server told me he couldn't find the reservation. After showing him the email confirmation he then lectures me that I should have called to confirm. He then continues to argue and becomes insulting. There were actually empty tables that he could of sat my party. Needless to say on Easter morning we left the place and I'm never coming back. "

  • "The food was pretty good but the service was terrible which was strange because the restaurant was less than half full on a saturday evening. To top it off, the drinks were hideously expensive. Wont be going back."

  • "a small group of us went for an early 11:30 am lunch -- it was quiet, pleasant & relaxing. it wasn't crowded and that allowed waitstaff to be extra attentive. we all enjoyed the executive lunch that was a great deal for a complete lunch meal with soup/salad, entree & dessert. the house salad was delicious and each of us loved our entrees: seafood lasagna, eggplant parmesan (extra-outstanding) and salmon with pasta. the portions were very generous -- had leftovers for snacking later. the italian cream cake, tiramisu and chocolate mousse cheesecake were all fresh with tasty coffee. we will definitely be going back every chance we can. its one of my newest favorite lunch spots! :)"

  • "We have enjoyed everything we have ever ordered. The osso bucco is delicious, although be aware it is lamb, not veal. The puttanesca appetizer is so yummy. Really, everything is great. And the staff is so friendly and helpful. We have a hard time eating anywhere else when we are downtown."

  • "A romantic evening for two...the noise level tends to impede. But as a group function...the food and service are quite good for the price. I've been several times and always forget the noise level...but keep coming back for the other benefits."

  • "Would really like to see a traditional lasagna on the menu. It's an Italian restaurant, after all ! Seafood lasagna isn't very appealing to me."

  • "My Mom's 73rd birthday dinner celebration was a success! I asked friends for dining recommendations in downtown Houston. (We were surprising Mom with theater tickets.) Mia Bella's was one of the suggestions and, since my mom LOVES Italian food, I selected Mia Bella's. I'm so glad I did. Our waiter was amazing and the food was stupendous! My husband said we would be coming back."

  • "We enjoyed our evening at Mia Bella Trattoria. The food was good, the noise level was sufficiently subdued where we could have conversation without trying to talk over others. I would recommend the restaurant to anyone."

  • "We selected Mia Bella downtown as a good location to meet another couple who we hadn't seen for over five years. My wife and I live in near town and our friends who are from the suburbs were in town for a late start (830) Rockets game, We selected Mia Bella as our dinner spot because we could spend a leisurely time ahead of the game, and for us access via Metrorail is easy, having been to Mia Bella many times before, we knew that the menu, wine options and ambience would be perfect to allow us a two -hour catch up session, and we were pleased with our choice."

  • "We haven't lived in Houston that long, so when had friends coming in from out of town,we asked friends for a restaurant recommendation. Mia Bella came up 3 times, so we decided to give it a try. All 4 of us ordered something different, and all were delicious! We can't wait to go back and try more! BTW...the salmon penne was the best I've ever had. Next time, I may have to skip the appetizers to make room for dessert. HUGE portions!!!!"

  • "Nice location on Main Street easy to find. The food was great and did not have to wait long at all for our meals. Enjoyed the appetizers Scampi al Pomodoro & Bruschetta alla Romana you need to try these items. Good atmosphere first time to eat at Mia Bella’s will definitely be going back. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the dinner."

  • "I have been to Mia Bella for brunch several times and every time has been wonderful. The food is delicious and moderately priced. And the service is excellent."

  • "Wife had the "Pollo alla Mia Bella". Chicken was good. It is supposed to be "layered with a medley of sautéed vegetables". Some were cooked to the consistency of straw, all dried out. I had the "Tonno con Risotto" (pan seared ahi tuna). The first bites were really good but subsequent bites were fishey. I had ordered the tuna medium rare. The last piece was cooked solid although the other bites were cooked perfect. The website advises "18% gratuity added to parties of 6 or more". We were a table of 2 (two) and they added the 18% to the tab, not as a suggestion, but on the printed credit card receipt for signature. I paid it without comment. I have eaten there many times and this was my first bad experience. Disappointing. Thomas"

  • "We are from outside of the city and were going to a Rockets game, so thought we would try it out. It is a very nice place, great food, great wine, and the waiter was very personable and fun to talk to. He also helped us with figuring out our way around. We will definitely be back. Outside of the window are some large older buildings, water fountains, and a monorail station, so since we don't ever see that, we checked the scenic view. It is a neat corner to watch if you are from outside the city."

  • "We were in Houston on business and decided to do Valentines night the 13th. We had never eaten here before and had wanted to give it a try. Loved the building. Small quaint and romantic. Husband had the auhi tuna by waitress recommendation. I had a pasta dish. Both were very good. Wine list was extensive and moderately priced. We will go back for another meal next time we are in Houston. BTW there are two locations and this was the one on Main at Pearce."

  • "We were in Houston for a convention & our hotel recommended Mia Bella's for good Italian food. We were not disappointed! Note there are 2 restaurants with the same name downtown! I cannot speak for the 2nd one but the Mia Bella's on Main St has outstanding food & service! Will definitely go back."

  • "My husband and I took my daughter and her boyfriend here for their birthdays. This was the first time any of us had dined here. We all were pleasantly surprised. The service was fantastic! The food was perfectly divine! Needlessly to say, the birthday couple enjoyed their evening! Thank You Mia Bella Main Street! We will return!!!"

  • "Dined here three times on dates, but first corporate outing. From Osabucco to Risotto, my guests from KC and FL raved on about food, moderate wines elections, and attentive wait staff. Very pleased to have happy guests! Will definitely be a fifth visit in near future."

  • "Above average food for a downtown location near Jones Hall (walkable in good weather) for a reasonable price."

  • "The food was excellent...melted in our mouth. I will come back again! Only bad note - Our server was very slow and rarely came back to the table. In fact, I had to wave him down a few times. Note, the restaurant only had 4 table tops full. The others were empty. We saw the other servers way more than him."

  • "As always the food and service was excellent. They never have a problem with ordering something not on the menu either."

  • "We had reservations for 6:45 but didn't get seated until 7:30. For the inconvenience, we were given a free appetizer, we chose the tomato basil soup and it was amazing. We ate the tilapia with sun-dried tomato risotto and spinach, it was the best dish. I look forward to going back and eating the tilapia again. Highly recommend!"

  • "We had a 7:30 reservation but the restaurant was over whelmed with customers, it was the night before the Houston Marathon, but they had not reserved our table. We understood that at first but when they started sitting over customers (without reservations, which arrived after us), that was a bit of a concern. The place was comfortable and the service was good. The house wine was great."

  • "My party of four had 6:15 reservations the night before the Houston marathon. We were not seated at our table until 6:50 and our food took over hour to receive. Although the food was appetizing I would not recommend this restaurant in that the waiter only checked on us once while we were waiting for food and we needed to request water and bread refills multiple times. Although the restaurant itself is quaint the interior is extremely small and tables positioned closed together making it difficult to move around for customers and staff alike. I was extremely disappointed that a fun night out before our running event became such a frustrating experience for everyone."

  • "I was with a group of six, and two of us ordered off the menu for special dietary needs. Our meal arrived timely, hot and with every specification met. We were able to have great conversation and never had to think about our glasses or bread basket being filled or our plates cleared. Everything we asked (even separate checks) was taken care of with a smile. Food was fantastic!"

  • "The waitress was nice but messed up my order ( a salad) out of a party of 6. Everyone else received what they ordered so that was good since it was a business lunch. I didn't say anything because she had already served everyone else and waited an extra 10 min to bring me my salad. Otherwise it was great!"

  • "We went to Mia Bella before attending nutcracker. The service was very good. The food was very well prepared and delicious. The calamari and artichoke appetizers were delightful. It was a wonderful experience and I hope to return."

  • "This place went downhill. Service was awful and the good was not good at all!!! Tasted like a microwaveable frozen dinner..."
    Dined on 12/27/2013
  • "On a cold December night, we slipped into Mia Bella just after the theater crowd had departed and had a quiet family dinner. We started with fried calamari and the risotto balls. We couldn't quite place it, but there was a little something different with the balls this time that we didn't like as much as we had in the past. Entrees included two of the seafood based pastas, a steak and a really good pizza. The variety is one of things that makes Mia Bella appealing--especially when dining with adults and teens."

  • "Ordered two pasta dishes - My wife's Egg plant parmesan- not a traditional sauce on the egg plant which was a surprise and would have liked to known about that. My chicken with vegetables was excellent. Reservation was for 6, we arrived right at 6 but were not seated until 6:30 PM. Were told when we arrived it would be a few minutes pointing to a table in the front but then when that table became available it was given to another couple who came in after us. We had tickets for an 8 Pm performance but since we were seated at 6:30 PM we felt a little rushed. The waitress did her best to get our entree out quickly and we made the performance in plenty of time but would not like to have felt a little rushed."
