Diner Reviews
  • "Mi Cocina is a welcoming, nice little Mexican restaurant. My family and I visited during their Lunch/Brunch hours. Although I found the food we ordered to be tasty, especially their Posole, it didn't stick out to me from the other numerous of Mexican restaurants to choose from. There is a chance that I may not have ordered their signature dishes, but their fajitas - something I really enjoy - didn't have enough flavor. Next time I will definitely try some of their tacos to see if that tastes better. What I did leave feeling very happy about was the service my family and I were treated with. The staff was very welcoming and attentive during our visit. Looking forward to returning and trying other dishes in hopes of that "wow" factor."

  • "Food and service were very good. The past 2 times dining here, waiter stated he/she was "new" but service was still good. Sampler platter (appetizer) is good enough for a meal and when paired with cerviche, two people can dine on these and be satisfied."

  • "The food, margaritas, and patio dining were all top notch! Excellent service as well."

  • "I really enjoyed dining at Mi Cocina. I've been here twice now, once with my boyfriend for a romantic Valentine's dinner and again with my family to celebrate a birthday. I've had pleasant experiences during both visits. If you like seafood, I really recommend getting the Salmon a la Parilla and the Ceviche (don't remember the entire name) -- the shrimp appetizer dish. Also, the Mama chicken dish was quite nice as well. The menu pricing seemed fair, although I think the alcoholic drink menu was a bit overpriced. I also wish there were more dessert options, as I am a big dessert fan. But luckily the location is right across from Café Intermezzo which covered my sweet tooth craving. All I can say is.. I will definitely be dining here again!!"

  • "Visited this restaurant after a concert recently. The food was outstanding. They have a great selection of margaritas!!!! I would recommend this to people in the mid-town area."

  • "The place was really nice and they validated parking however, the food was not so great. I love mexican food and it didnt meet my expectations. When my girlfriend said the same thing, that confirmed we will not be back !"

  • "Mi Cocina is in a good location and the food is very good. The problem is the poor service from the moment you enter the restaurant until you leave. If you can ignore the service you will have a fairly good time."

  • "Delicious and warm spacious nice restaurant. The nachos loco, enchilada mole, and tamales were delicious."

  • "I was very disappointed in the service. I had been here before at lunch without any issues, but we arrived prior to 5pm on Saturday evening and it was after 5:30 before we received our food. The waiter did not come around often enough to refill our water glasses. The bar area was very loud and although we had reservations and arrived early, they originally tried to seat us in the bar. I love the colors and painting on the walls, but will probably not return."

  • "We really enjoyed ourselves at Mi Cocina. The food is every bit as good as the Dallas location, with a slightly more contemporary ambiance. The service was excellent. The brisket tacos and the Mambo Taxi margarita are not to be missed!"

  • "Service was extremely slow... tamales were terrible. We just moved to Atl and this restaurant is around the corner from our apartment... it's in a great location. We finally get around to going and what a waste of time and energy. If your thinking of trying this place, think again.... go to Taqueria del Sol (better service and much better food) PS. The bartenders there need a reality check. My friends who arrived to the bar before we did were treated with such disrespect from the bartender. Completely disregarded them when they sat at the bar. Wouldn't even look at them. Completely unacceptable from a service standpoint."

  • "I love Mi Cocina. I was very disappointed that they were out of shrimp because the reason I came was for the shrimp tacos. But I had the awesome fish tacos instead & they were delicious. The margaritas were great too."

  • "I had reservations for 8:00 with my guy. We were running late due to finding a parking space. But as soon as we walked in the restraunt,we were greeted And taken to our seats! I was worried we would be made to Wait since weren't on time.but not the case at all. The place was just so soothing and romantic. Its for adults. No so much family oriented with kids and stuff. The food was smaller in quantity than I expected but it Tasted amazing and my drink the limousine was To die for. I will be back!"

  • "I live a block from Mia Cocina and have eaten there several times. The food has always been fine....not great...but fine for a weeknight dinner. Every time there has been a service issue. Once a lost order. Once a forgotten side dish that was brought to the table only after the check had been paid. Saturday night we waited over an hour for our entrees. At one point we told our waiter that we had theatre tickets and needed to hurry things along. Instead of going into the kitchen he stood by our table for another few minutes to chat about the theatre and then went and chatted with another table."

  • "Mi Cocina is in line with upscale trendy places. Drinks are made with fresh ingredients and delicious, food is really good, ambiance cool and hip, service is slow and disinterested. Best bet, make it a chill night with lots of time or eat at the bar where you get some actual service and interest."

  • "Dined at Mi Cocina Friday, Jan 31 uisng the Scoutmob deal. Food (brisket tacos) and drinks (mambo taxi) were good. Avoid the jalapeno agave margarita - literally has chunky salsa poured on top. Service was poor - one person's dinner came out 10 minutes after the others (with no apology or explanation from the waitress) and our drink order took 15 minutes to arrive. When the bill arrived, it was lower than expected so we assumed the waitress had comped the late meal and one of the late drinks. We she returned after having run the credit card, she indicated that she'd given us the wrong bill and that the total was higher. She definitely should not have run the credit card until we had seen the correct bill."

  • "food was delicious, the servers seemed a little inexperienced as a whole and very young but our experience otherwise was good. our waiter came up about every three minutes to ask how everything was, which was a little unneccessary as i was having dinner with a friend i hadn't seen in a while and we were just trying to talk to eachother. it felt a little bit like he was trying to rush us out towards the end"

  • "While not ultra creative Mexican food, it is certainly more elevated and modern than your typical $5 lunch special Mexican restaurant. You find tamales and mole on the menu, and they are good attempts. Prices are average for Midtown, but it does boast a dramatic and modern Midtown ambience. I like that they validate parking in the deck. Service generally is slower than it needs to be, but not terrible. Good Midtown option."

  • "Arrived on time for my reservation of 3 and was told their policy is to seat parties 15 minutes after the reserved time? I was told it was an hour wait for walk in's and 15 minute wait for those with a reservation. Looking around the restaurant, there were entire sections of empty tables. The manager finally came and handled the host station himself, but once seated waited 20 minutes to order and then an hour for food. It was a Saturday night past 9:30 and not very busy. They should have been more prepared for small crowds and should definitely treat customers with more appreciation."

  • "We ate at Mi Cocina last Saturday night at around 8pm and had a great experience. It was busy but not super crowded and it wasn't too noisy. And most importantly, the food was great! My husband had the brisket tacos and they were delicious. I had the tamale with grilled chicken breast and it was very flavorful. I'm from Texas, and this didn't seem like Tex Mex food to me, but it was certainly very tasty! More like a modern take on Tex Mex, maybe. Oh, we also had the Mambo Taxis drinks which were great, too! I have only good things to say about the restaurant; we'll be back for sure!"

  • "Great night out and good pick for the first meal of the new year. Good food, music that makes you want to dance and awesome ambience. A must try!"

  • "went here for new years eve and it took 30 minutes to get our drinks and 1.5 hours in order for us to get our dinners. There was also a twist tie in my dinner...which was gross. Food was just OK. Not the best mexican but its in a good location so it was easy for us to go out afterward."

  • "We had a 7:30 "Open Table" reservation and arrived at 7:30 p.m. and hostess appeared unaware of our reservation. After a 5-10 minute wait we were seated. Our nice waitress Sarah offered to get us drinks and water and chips and salsa were provided. The restaurant appeared to be understaffed. Sarah tried to be helpful but our drinks arrived late and were watery. Servers had to be asked to refill the water glasses and provide chips. Nobody bused the table during the meal or asked to refresh our drinks until late in the meal. The food took about 35-40 minutes to arrive and was warm but not hot and was okay but nothing special. Simply put, the service was very slow and food was just okay."

  • "The food was excellent, our waiter was great- the order was wrong and he immediately apologized and returned with the correct order with in mins. This was out first visit, we were extremely impressed. Would recommend this place to all who enjoy classic Mexican food, but don't want the look of the typical chain restaurants!!"

  • "I have gone to Mi Cocina twice now for lunch and in an area where most people are on a work lunch hour it takes some time to get your food. Both times we spend an hour and a half in the restaurant from arrival to departure, solely based on service time (and this is while telling them several times we were on a time constraint). The staff is very pleasant and the ambiance very nice. The food is delicious so for dinner or a non-working lunch I would definitely recommend it."
