  • "We try to get to Mezze every time we come to Williamstown (3 or 4 times a year). There is always something interesting and imaginative on the menu. The wine list offers good value in a moderate price range, although I confess that I always avoid the "organic" and "sustainable" wines. If those are the chief ends of the vintners, God bless them, but I am more interested in good wine than vintner virtue."

Our waitress, Lauren was the same as our first visit and she has exceeded ALL expectations and made our dinner wonderful both times."

  • "My husband and I were on a weekend getaway in the Bershires and found this foodie gem. The service was top-notch and the food was delicious. We shared the Sriracha chickpeas which was surprising delicious and not too spicy. I had the housemade papardelle bolognese that was melt-in-mouth amazing and had a healthy portion. My husband had the pork, which was a smallish portion, which he gobbled up. Dessert was the shining star with me, which was the marshmallow brulee. Will definitely come again!"

  • "As long-time Mezze devotees, our recent dinner in March 2014 was a disappointment. Wines by the glass, which are usually interesting, were uninspiring, New small plate offerings are a plus, but lack of good vegetarian and vegan entree offerings sorely missed by one diner. Overall, portions seemed smaller and prices higher. Chef's touch not subtle - a number of dishes were over-seasoned, or had one ingredient that overshadowed others (eg, the intense citrus pucker of the dressing on the kale salad drowned out the nutty parmesan, in contrast to the previous version of this dish which offered balance). Best dish of the evening was an elegant cream of parsnip soup. Dessert choices did not even tempt us."

But the food was very mediocre (we could have prepared these meals better ourselves at home), and it was far too expensive. The service was very slow, despite the fact that there were only four other tables being served and we arrived before 6pm. We won't be back any time soon."

  • "Had a great dinner 2 weeks ago on a Wednesday. Returned on a Sunday when it was very busy. Long wait for food and food was not hot enough. Food here is very unusual. Needs care in preparation. Not sure restaurant can handle such a busy night. Suggest sticking to weeknights."

  • "Mezze has a menu the likes of which I haven't encountered before, perhaps because I do not live near a big city. The menu is not huge. It is divided between small plates and large plates. I had two small plates: a kale salad that I ordered reluctantly as the only other salad option was a beet salad. I was SO glad I did order the kale salad.. The kale was chiffonaded, but sliced so thin that it was hard to imagine how they managed to do that. A very light Caesar dressing with lots of Parmesan. Also it was nicely chilled. I absolutely loved it. Kale can be tough so the slicing took care of that issue. My second small plate was a chicken roulade. Perfect size, maybe 5-6oz of dark meat, great flavors."

  • "I booked a reservation for a birthday dinner, completely unaware that Mezze Bistro would deliver such an outstanding meal. The atmosphere is understatedly elegant, with an impressive art collection gracing the walls. We ordered oysters for the table and an excellent drink called the "aviation" to start and this set the stage for a really special meal. I appreciated the small plate options, mostly because it allowed our party of four to try various dishes. Two vegetarians in the group were easily accommodated. Everything was creatively executed and beautifully presented. My only complaint is that our waitress needed to be reminded of our drink orders, but that was insignificant when compared to the excellence of the total dining experience."

  • "Mezzo is one of those restaurants where the owners seem to try hard to create a good dining experience, but fail. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice. Good space and interesting art give a good first impression. The service was pretty good, but we had to ask for and wait quite a while for bread. The food was an attempt at gourmet, but missed the mark. The fish on quinoa looked good but desperately needed herbs or spices to give it flavor. The quinoa was way undercooked. The sliced steak was very chewy and was a disappointment. The beet salad was decent, albeit a bit small. Overall, the restaurant has a nice dining room, fairly attentive service, but needs a lot of work in the kitchen to justify its' price point or a return visit."

  • "I am a local business owner and wanted to take clients to dinner at a nice restaurant, with a local food flair. I had never been to Mezze nor will I ever return. The meat was nothing spectacular and the vegetables were no existent on all of our plates. And who has ever gone to a restaurant that doesn't offer a salad of greens! I don't mind paying a price for my meal but when I pay a good price, i expect good food and decent portions. The waitress started the night telling us they were low on all specials, therefore we opted to not order specials. Well evidently they were low on everything. The waitress was in a rush and we felt rushed. Not a good experience and will not return."

  • "Mezze has become our favorite area restaurant. The farm-to-table menu, using many locally sourced foods and beverages is appealing to us. The food is consistently creative and delicious, and the service is exceptional. A previously-confirmed beet-hater, Mezze's beet appetizer won me over (yummy!). Another favorite dish is the Amish chicken. Having said that, we're always finding "new favorites" as the chef updates frequently based on availability of local ingredients."

  • "The friends with whom we went to dinner chose Mezze, which has never been our favorite place in Williamstown, though it has its fans. The evening got off to a bad start when the manager refused to turn off the annoying Christmas music, even though everyone at the three tables with diners told her they would be happier with it off. Eventually she gave in and put us in a room by ourselves. The food was fine, if not exceptional (and the menu is very heavy on pork), but my husband will never eat at Mezze again, at least not while it is under the current management."

  • "My wife and I were having a difficult time with some personal issues, so I decided to try and lift both our moods and take us to a romantic dinner at Mezze. The experience was so great I will definitely be going back again and again. All the staff were extremely accommodating and our waitress was elegant and also was able to make us laugh. I LOVED THIS EXPERIENCE. The only downside was a rude customer who was complaining about the music (which was lovely) and the manager must have handled the situation extremely well because I didn't hear from him for the rest of the night and we still were able to listen to the holiday music. Best of all the food was so delicious!!"

  • "The main course dishes (chicken, steak) were prepared and seasoned perfectly. Our appetizers, Kale salad, Raviolo were creative and full of flavor. The beer list could use some improvement with a focus toward more craft beers (you'd thin Berkshire Brewing Company) would be a natural addition given the location of the restaurant. The wine list was generally fine although a few more individual glass options should be offered. Dessert was mixed as the lemon curd was exceptional but the pretzel crust detracted from the dish and was a "miss" when a graham cracker crust would have been better. All in all a very nice experience but a bit overpriced. $9 for brussel sprouts on the side when they should be part of the main course...ouch."

  • "Although my guests seemed moderately satisfied, I can say without reservations that the pasta main I had was the single worst dish I have ever had at a restaurant. It was overcooked to absolute mush and the only flavor was the overwhelming amount of beets -- the cheese was absolutely flavorless. The waiter was sweet but a little amateurish. My husband never received his dessert, apparently because I said I didn't want dessert."

My wife's potatoes were cold and the pork loin overdone. My cavatelli not particularly tasteful. We asked for lemon for our water and they brought only one piece. It was perfect--beautifully prepared food, everything so tasty, great service from the second we walked in the door. We live a 45 minute drive away, but look forward to returning soon."

  • "We came for the weekend to hike Mt. Greylock and were looking for a nice restaurant with good vegetarian options. The food was delicious, if pricy, but that was not unexpected. What was most unfortunate was the rude hostess who initially told me they would give away our table due to "high turnover" when I called to say we'd be 10 min late. Ten minutes?! When we got there and I approached her station, she held a finger in front of my face and disappeared before even saying one word to me. Luckily, we had a wonderful waiter (possibly the owner?) and delicious, although not amazing food. For $50/person, I expected to be knocked off my feet. The amazing almond/apple tart with cinnamon sorbet certainly kicked everything up a star though!"
