Diner Reviews
  • "This was our first visit to Williamstown, and we found Mezze in a listing area restaurants. The menu was interesting, and the dishes we chose were delicious. The service was prompt and professional and our server very knowledgable about the preparation of the dishes. The restaurant is divided into several rooms which gives a cozy atmosphere. Overall our experience was excellent and we highly recommend Mezze."

  • "Food was well prepared and presented. Service was perfect even though they were packed. We go there on e a year during our New E and tour and have always had a great experience."

  • "Had a lovely dining experience as always when we eat here. Got us out in plenty of time to get to the theater, Good food and service who could ask for more"

  • "On this, our third visit, we once again had a delicious meal, professionally served. A very positive experience overall. I will confess, as a meat (and seafood and game/poultry) and potatoes guy, I often have issues with the menu here. No (or rarely) lamb, veal, game, etc. And a short list of locally grown, in season, veggies are repeated frequently through the current menu. But I always find a couple of items that pique the appetite and the ingredients and preparation have always been outstanding. Exceeded my expectations. And my wife usually finds herself in pasta heaven. Not exactly in downtown Williamstown, but well worth the short drive south."

  • "The potato churros were phenomenal. Grilled octopus tender and delicious. The entree was disappointing - beef ordered medium rare was medium well. The strawberry/angel food cake and chocolate sundae desserts were the perfect size for sharing and really good. My partner ordered a delicious cocktail - a Bee Sting. I tasted his and when I tried to order one, I was told, "Oh, we're all out of the ingredients." Seriously? They had like, four cocktails on the menu, and this was 7 PM on a Saturday night. At first we thought she was joking - but no. Water glasses went unfilled. The waitress really couldn't answer questions about the content of the menu items. It was almost like something out of a Saturday Night Live sketch."

  • "Lovely restaurant. Atmosphere is a bit boring. Food is fantastic. My salmon was great."

  • "Williamstown is lucky to have such a high caliber restaurant, with really top notch food taking advantage of local produce. Kitchen seems to be well trained: good flavor combinations, nice modern presentation, sauces have clarity, nuance, and depth of flavor...food tastes good. Tasty cocktails, and staff was well trained, if a little green... For instance our waiter seemed a little unsure of himself, but had tasted all the wines by the glass and was able to make two spot-on recommendations for pairing."

  • "We barely made it there before the kitchen closed, but they didn't rush as at all. We ordered a number of small plates and liked all of them. In particular, I liked the Octopus and the bone marrow. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who is in the area."

  • "We read the many positive reviews and followed a local resident's recommendation and LOVED this restaurant. Delicious food, great wine and excellent drinks. Expensive, but not overpriced, as the quality of the experience and food was great. The service was just slightly awkward but not uncomfortably so, and attentive and prompt. Will be back again!"

  • "Food was fantastic! We both got the bistro steak and couldn't of had a better steak. It was cooked perfect. The waitress was spot on with our food and drinks. The asparagus soup was great. We would definitely go back with friends."

  • " Food: In Short - Overpriced. $ 20.00 for lima beans? and $ 34.00 for a filet of undercooked fish? Fried Chickpeas appetizer were closer to raw than cooked. Is this a new trend in fusion dining, to undercook the food? "

  • "Very nice spot! Good food, pretty space, lovely setting"

  • "The food, essentially farm-to-table style, was both delicious and striking (though not particularly avant garde, which may be a good or a bad thing depending on taste). The hilltop view is very nice. We do have to say that our service was a bit off: by no means rude or incompetent, but awkward and slow. The place seemed understaffed (due to Williams College having just ended for the year?) and things were a bit chaotic; two different people asked if we wanted anything after dinner, but it still took ages for the check to arrive. Fortunately, this should be easy to fix and we expect Mezze to remain a thoroughly satisfying place to eat in Williamstown."

  • "We were here four or five years ago and came away disappointed by long waits and poor service mainly. This time around that all was perfect, marred only by a slight delay in our appetizers, made up for by a plate of olives to accompany our drinks. The food was extremely well prepared, my wife quibbling a bit about her German sausage mainly because she did ask about it in advance...I think she thought maybe some kind of gourmet brat coming out.... My crisp duck strips served in pasta (can't remember the exact name of the dish) was simply superb. We found the prices fair and the restaurant itself is very attractive in a lovely relaxing setting that verges on quiet New England rural elegance. "

  • "We had a party of five with a vegetarian among us. The food was amazing and service was superb. We have been here once before and found the restaurant consistent and just as we had remembered. I would highly recommend this restaurant to all."

  • "What had been a great local gem served pallid uninspired food from an ambitious menu. What was listed as Char ended up being salmon. We're hoping it was just an off night, but locals confirmed the decline from previous high standards. Here's hoping Meze can get back in the groove."

  • "Serving staff seemed short-handed, but Lauren seemed nonchalant besides that. Took awhile for drinks to be poured, and then they sat at the end of the bar, even as she came and went once. I finally had to ask the bartender to bring them around. Food was excellent, however. Transition of chefs does not seem to have hurt. "

  • "We've been to Mezze a number of times when visiting the area and, if anything, it's only gotten better. They buy (and even forage) locally. The menu changes with the seasons. The wait staff is very attentive. And the restaurant itself is visually appealing."

  • "Food was very fresh and delicious. Some of the dish portions are small, leaving you feeling the menu can be a bit pricey. Service is excellent, very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu and wine list. "

  • "If you are looking for high end dinning and don't mind spending some money in Williamstown, this is the place. Lots of widely spaced tables in an open and sleek dining room. Wide ranging menu of inventive and well prepared dishes utilizing local and seasonal ingredients. Good wine list, although our $60 bottle of 2012 St. Joseph Rhone was a little disappointing. Great service - attentive but not overbearing."

  • "Mezze combined a sleek, modern interior with an excellent kitchen, superior bar and great service. We were greeted at the door by the owner, who checked in during our meal. Our waitress, Amy Mendez, was well versed in the menu. Bartender Kael Woodyard makes sophisticated drinks and made us a sample of his Vieux Carre after I had expressed a liking for the drink. The menu is sophisticated and does a great job deploying fresh local ingredients in complex dishes. My wife and I shared excelled sriracha chickpeas as a snack. My fresh garganelli with kale, braised veal, lardons and mushrooms was rich and robust with a great veal stock sauce. Dessert was a wonderful parfait with pretzel and toasted marshmallow ice creams. We will be back."

  • "We try to get to Mezze every time we come to Williamstown (3 or 4 times a year). There is always something interesting and imaginative on the menu. The wine list offers good value in a moderate price range, although I confess that I always avoid the "organic" and "sustainable" wines. If those are the chief ends of the vintners, God bless them, but I am more interested in good wine than vintner virtue."

  • "This is the second time and love it again. We had a group of 4 and each got something different but equally delicious. The atmosphere is wonderful and all of the staff were on point. Our waitress, Lauren was the same as our first visit and she has exceeded ALL expectations and made our dinner wonderful both times."

  • "We had a superb meal in a lovely room, windows all around and high among trees. Quiet, elegant, and an interesting menu. My husband said the bolognaise was the best he'd ever had. Would definitely return if back in the area."

  • "My husband and I were on a weekend getaway in the Bershires and found this foodie gem. The service was top-notch and the food was delicious. We shared the Sriracha chickpeas which was surprising delicious and not too spicy. I had the housemade papardelle bolognese that was melt-in-mouth amazing and had a healthy portion. My husband had the pork, which was a smallish portion, which he gobbled up. Dessert was the shining star with me, which was the marshmallow brulee. Will definitely come again!"

  • "I go to Mezze When I want to enjoy a healthy, unique experience. I hardly ever know exactly what I am ordering, but every time I get it, it is delicious. You really have to place your trust in the chef, which I do, and I am never disappointed."

  • "As long-time Mezze devotees, our recent dinner in March 2014 was a disappointment. Wines by the glass, which are usually interesting, were uninspiring, New small plate offerings are a plus, but lack of good vegetarian and vegan entree offerings sorely missed by one diner. Overall, portions seemed smaller and prices higher. Chef's touch not subtle - a number of dishes were over-seasoned, or had one ingredient that overshadowed others (eg, the intense citrus pucker of the dressing on the kale salad drowned out the nutty parmesan, in contrast to the previous version of this dish which offered balance). Best dish of the evening was an elegant cream of parsnip soup. Dessert choices did not even tempt us."

  • "If there had been as much attention paid to the food and its preparation as there was to the wine and the table-setting, it would have been rated "good". But the food was very mediocre (we could have prepared these meals better ourselves at home), and it was far too expensive. The service was very slow, despite the fact that there were only four other tables being served and we arrived before 6pm. We won't be back any time soon."

  • "Had a great dinner 2 weeks ago on a Wednesday. Returned on a Sunday when it was very busy. Long wait for food and food was not hot enough. Food here is very unusual. Needs care in preparation. Not sure restaurant can handle such a busy night. Suggest sticking to weeknights."

  • "My entree of calf's liver was so tough I accepted the offer of another dish, which meant my guests were finished before the substiute arrived. The menu featured beets and kale with nearly everyhting, items that my guests did not care for. Also, the room was quite chilly."

  • "always a relaxed setting, especially on a cold winters night. Creative food. Pigs heart on the menu currently, although I am a vegetarian. Appreciate the farm to table movement. Also, awesome and creative desserts! The pureed beets accompanying the angel food cake was gorgeous in color and taste."

  • "Mezze has a menu the likes of which I haven't encountered before, perhaps because I do not live near a big city. The menu is not huge. It is divided between small plates and large plates. I had two small plates: a kale salad that I ordered reluctantly as the only other salad option was a beet salad. I was SO glad I did order the kale salad.. The kale was chiffonaded, but sliced so thin that it was hard to imagine how they managed to do that. A very light Caesar dressing with lots of Parmesan. Also it was nicely chilled. I absolutely loved it. Kale can be tough so the slicing took care of that issue. My second small plate was a chicken roulade. Perfect size, maybe 5-6oz of dark meat, great flavors."
