The food, which celebrates local providers, is creative, savory and roll your eyes delicious:) Service is always seamless.
This last visit I tried the lettuce wrap small plate would order 2 for my main meal! The ricotta pasta? ...I almost licked the bowl. The cannelloni with mushrooms, lardons, radish greens, and cloth-bound cheddar was particularly delightful and hearty. The restaurant was very quiet on a Monday eve in late April. There was no loud noise, making it easy to talk. We each chose a pasta dish as we had meat the eve before. Food was well prepared and presented, with an emphasis on local sourcing. Vintage beet salad was delicious, as was the pate. Both were good sized portions, and fresh - gave the impression that it was prepared to order and not sitting in the fridge waiting.
"Biggest" piece of trout with kale and potato underneath for one and a nicely spiced chicken with the same sides for the other. Waitress selected the right wines for each of us. She was attentive without hovering, and answered each question firmly.
Minor negative was the choice of flooring and walls, which allowed noise to bounce around even with the restaurant not really close to being full.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a farm to table restaurantThis is a farm to table restaurant with an incredible menu. Thw wait staff could not have been more pleasant and attentive. I will go back here again and again and again!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe make a point of visitingWe make a point of visiting Mezze whenever we are in Williamstown. (We live in Baltimore.) It never disappoints. The menu is interesting and varied -- food we can't duplicate at home. Only complaint is that in one sitting we can't order everything we would like to try. The wine list includes mostly organic and some word I can't remember (biodynamic?) wines. In my experience they are just so-so. Maybe my taste is too conventional. Otherwise, I can't praise Mezze too highly. He helped us navigate through the wine list and we shared an amazing biodynamic cab. I was between the kale salad and tofu appetizer and was glad I had the greens. The shredded texture of the kale was a pleasant surprise.
