A word from Mezetto
Sitting on the “nexus of the universe”, bridging the East Village and the Lower East Side. Mezetto is where you can come to simply enjoy great food, fun drinks and good company. Inspired from the word 'Meze' which refers to a selection of small dishes served in the Mediterranean as breakfast, lunch or even dinner. It is our take on tapas-style dinning, offering small plates meant to be shared amongst friends to create an social dining experience. We are focused on taking traditional flavors and cooking styles of the Mediterranean and bringing them to life with new age cooking techniques, creative combinations and bold presentations.
Mezetto is how we do Meze.

Diner Reviews
  • "very popular during the warm weekends for brunch, highly recommend making rsvp, kale salad is delicious and so are the kebabs, they do middle eastern flair really well, and bottomless mimosa is great too."

  • "The appetizers are amazing, definitely better than the entrees, and the falafel buns are not to be missed. Service was exceptional."

  • "very small restaurant that took great care of the 8 of us. Near NYU. Ate at 5pm so there weren't many people there. Great tapas and very different. Service helped with good suggestions."

  • "Came here for bottomless brunch on a Sunday at 2 (hectic as you can imagine), had made a same day reservation through open table. We ended up having to wait 25 mins to be seated - but the wait staff was so friendly and they said we could start drinking while we wait and that our 2 hour limit for bottomless drinks wouldn't start until we were seated. That was very nice and made the wait a non-issue. The food was great, and everything was perfectly timed so you didn't feel rushed but were never left waiting. Speaking of that our glasses were never empty for more than maybe 10 seconds before someone walked by to refresh our mimosas. It was a fun time and we will be back."

  • "The food was WAY too salty. I was feeling the effects for 2 days afterwards! The staff were friendly and nice, but we were one of only 2 tables and I had to flag them down to get the bill because they were socializing in the back. Not the best service."

  • "Had to wait almost an hour before being seated after having a confirmed reservation for over a month. The maître d' wasn't apologetic in the least, to the contrary he was the one giving us an attitude. The food was good, but would never go back there based on this experience."

  • "Mezetto was a great location for a dinner with friends. I went there for my birthday dinner this past weekend. The atmosphere was very energetic and had a definite party vibe. The food was delicious. From the spicy feta to the brussel sprouts (which I normally hate, but those were delectable). The service was wonderful, they were very imformative, friendly, and even a little flirty. The overall place is very small so it was a bit loud (not exactly good for a romantic dinner). But for a fun boisterous dinner out with friends it was perfect. If you are a group, make a reservation. Definitely reccommend this place!"

  • "Everything at Mezetto was wonderfully done. While the weather was horrible outside, our experience at Mezetto was a very welcome respite. The staff created a terrific atmosphere which was enormously appreciated. All of the food was excellent. We started with the Mezetto trio which we savored and the extra zatter bread was very welcome. The cocktails were generous and delicious. The Octopus and Greek salad were an excellent combination to share as were the scallops and steak kebob ou poivre. The halva parfait may just be one of the best desserts I have ever had. Quite breathtaking. Overall, a much more sophisticated and professional restaurant than first appears. A very welcome surprise and I would recommend it to anyone."

  • "Tasty, but Too expensive for the result. $13. for glass of house red, too much. Chicken Satay not spicy enough. Tagine with so so chorizo lacked interest. Nice brussel sprout appetizer. Service and staff very nice. Noise level high for normal conversation."

  • "I had a birthday dinner for 10 people and cannot rave enough about the food, the service, and the overall experience. The staff was beyond attentive and engaging and truly made our experience special. We chose the $45 per person prix-fixe menu option which included assorted appetizers, an entree, and assorted desserts. The amount of food we received was unbelievable. They brought out multiple plates of six different appetizers which were amazing - especially the ricotta croquettes and falafel buns. The entrees were also amazing - the portion sizes were great and the taste did not disappoint. The desserts were incredible too! Highly recommend this restaurant, especially for large groups. Thank you Mezetto!!"

  • "Excellent spot for a mid winter brunch with friends who decided we had enough of cold and snow. Lively crowd, very good and attentive service. The menu is varied and lends itself to sharing with friends. All the dishes we had were delicious and well presented too."

  • "We had dinner for Valentine's Day. Pros: The quality of the courses was quite good, particularly the quality of the steak tartare: perfectly cut and seasoned. The desserts were ok, although a bit too sweet. Service was impeccable. Cons: Tables are very small and packed one after the other, like in a French bistrot, thus limiting intimacy. The environment is very noisy and you have to talk loudly to be heard by the person sitting in front of you"

  • "Sometimes it's difficult to get great food and fantastic service for a moderate price, and Mezetto exceeded my expectations! Service was attentive and the food is Fantastic! I recommend the falafel buns and mushroom croquettes"

  • "Really liked the food at this place but we were stuck waiting for ~30-45mins despite making a reservation on OpenTable where they showed availability. But delays happen -- no big deal -- the food was great... especially the Charred Octopus/Roasted Fennel."

  • "Great find. Nice ambiance, Fantastic service Went with a friend. We shared all the dishes. Starter: flat bread with a trio of dips - eggplant, feta humus; Apps: sweet potato croquettes with, I think, a yogurt topping; falafel bun; Entrees: scallops with parsnip puree and cauliflower; caramelized pork belly with butternut squash risotto; Dessert: creme brulee, halva ice cream. Everything was amazingly yummy. Only negative was that some of the dishes had just a touch too much sweetness, from various ingredients like molasses, that needed additional salt to cut some of the sweet."

  • "Such interesting dishes We enjoyed everything we tried, but especially loved the falafel balls in chinese steamed buns. Wonderful!"

  • "Had a large group dinner there on Saturday night. We were fifteen people and we were all impressed. The food was excellent. Everything we ordered from the steak to the risotto balls to the truffled gnocchi were to die for. Most importantly the service was very accommodating of a large group. Recommend highly for large groups as well as for just dining with your loved one."

  • "Very pleasant surprise. Excellent attentive service. Small restaurant with limited menu that serves very good food and excellent premises made desserts. Went there for Sunday brunch, will definitely return to try dinner menu."

  • "The place was a medium sized restaurant in a very great location. The food was delicious, decor minimal, sangria sweet and flowing. Above all, the price was very reasonable. The location didn't get packed until later but we were able to secure a reservation for 10 on a Friday night (granted we were the only large party and dominated the center of the restaurant). I would say this is an up and coming location!"

  • "My best friend and I had a great time at Mezetto for brunch. We sat at the bar and of course partook in the endless mimosas. I had a Chorizo Shakshuka and she had a Spanish Omelette. The food came out quickly was delicious, everything with a unique Spanish/Mediterranean flair. But what made this experience really special was the service. Sitting at the bar, we became chatty with the bartender, also General Manager, Chase. He was so charming and friendly, and treated us like we were special. The drinks flowed freely and we also got to talking to a waiter named Adam. The owners and much of the staff are Israeli, it turns out, and they've been open less than two years. It's a great space, clearly popular with a young and fun crowd. Yay!"

  • "Blackboard Eats sent me prix fixe offer - probably the best value I have ever received. Highlights included the spicy feta, falafel buns, duck and chorizo and the halva dessert... yet every dish (eight total, plus wine pairings) was delicious. In such an intimate space, good service is key, and I really felt the staff was attentive and fun! Location couldn't be more convenient: right next to the 1st Av exit of the 2 Av F stop."

  • "in the service category. I went to Mezetto for a double birthday brunch with my two friends... on a Thursday. We opted for the bottomless mimosa option, and had the most attentive service possible. The second we finished a glass, another concoction appeared in its place. Definitely give server/bartender/rockstar José free reign over the mimosa mixing, he's terrific. The food was good too, pretty well-made Mediterranean food with sort of an Israeli spin? Thanks Mezetto, we'll be back."

  • "This is not my first time at Mezetto. Every time I come back it is always a great experience. The food is amazing, unique and rich in flavor. The service is friendly and helpful. The ambience is exciting and the Lower East location makes it a great stepping stone to get a bite first before your night begins. The bartenders make great drinks and it's fun to get a quick drink there before heading out every time. Recommend this to anyone."

  • "Mezetto is a great spot that offers their brunch special with bottomless mimosas on the daily! We've been twice recently, once on a Monday and once on a Sunday afternoons. Both times we were pleased. I give the food a B, but the mimosas get an A+++. Some of the brunch dishes are a bit bland, but the hummus appetizer is some of the best hummus I've had in the city. Service was a bit shoddy when the dining room was busy and it seemed that there was only one server available to all of the guests. The bartender and host helped out along the way when they were able. However on Monday afternoon and when the pack started to thin out on Sunday, service was top notch. It's definitely worth checking out for the price."

  • "Me and a friend took advantage of Blackboard Eat's 4-course prix fixe, which included a starter, appetizer, entree, and dessert per person. We even had a wine pairing, at the suggestion of the chef, with each dish. Besides the excellent service and amiable waiters, the food was probably the best Mediterranean I've had in a while. Highly suggest the Mezetto trio, pistachio lamb meatballs, and duck and chorizo tagine. Also, the halva parfait is unlike anything I've ever tasted, but delicious all the same - a house speciality. Highly recommend, since the delicious food and wonderful customer service definitely make this restaurant a LES gem. Will definitely be returning!"

  • "I spent New Years Eve at Mezetto this year with a group of 8 people. 4 course meal with options was fantastic, from the kale salad, to the lamb meatballs, to the bouillabaise (seafood stew), to the dessert. Their Arak cocktail is to die for too. Arak is a Middle Eastern liqueur akin to sambuca. Also extremely friendly wait staff. I would go back to eat there and recommend it for others."

  • "The food was excellent. Friend and I split the lamb meatballs (which were good). Had the steak kebab as an entree, and friend had the lamb burger. Both entrees were excellent, and the fries are a good addition to the meal."

  • "Mezetto well-exceeded all my expectations for a brunch place. While the number of servers were sparse, they managed to maintain full champagne glasses, serve spectacular Mediterranean tapas, while not once making our table feel the need to leave within the two-hour time frame."

  • "This place is fantastic- I've been here a couple of times and recently brought my uncle there for a birthday brunch. The food is delicious- very fresh, creative and yummy. The servers and bartenders are friendly, attentive, and fun to joke around with. Love this place. Would totally recommend it. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "80% of the apps were perfectly eich with flavor - some others medicre, but better than many other NYC small plate offerings. If tou're with 4 people, they should let u know there are 3 tastings per plate. I think thats my only issue."

  • "I came here with 2 friends, one of which is a vegetarian. There were lots of options for her which was great. The 3 of us shared 5 small plates. The sweet potatoes were great, however the other items were fine. Nothing was bad, it just wasn't exciting or as good as some of the other tapas I have had at other places. We had the goat cheese and beet salad, falafel, brussles sprouts, and dip trio all of which were good. The service from all staff members was excellent! I would come back here if someone else wanted to go, but since there is such good food in the area, I probably would chose other places over this one rather than come back."
