A word from Meze
We are a family-owned bar and restaurant in San Diego’s popular Gaslamp Quarter. The word “mezé” translates as “taste” – meaning both “flavor” and “a taste of something.” At Mezé Greek Fusion you’ll find both. Our menu features finely crafted regional cuisine with a California twist. It can be
enjoyed as entrees in our chic high-ceilinged dining room, or in small portions as “mezé” that go exceptionally well outside on our patio with a drink, or as a bite at the bar before heading to a Padres game or a night out in the Gaslamp. On the weekends, we serve a delicious brunch with Bottomless Mimosas. Late night we recommend that you try our cocktail list and have a staff member pack a hookah for you. Come by and discover how a place can be both elegant and familiar, which is to say, Mediterranean.

If I could give Meze 6 stars
instead of 5, I would do so. I organized my team dinner here during the recent allergy meeting in San Diego, and everyone raved about not only the delicious food, but also the presentation, and even better, the wonderful service from Dre (short for Andrea I think) and Patrick (the owner of the establishment). Both were extremely attentive and made a 5 star experience 6+ stars! Highly recommend, and I will be back at least twice at my pulmonary meeting in May! Thanks again guys!"

Reserved a table for 9 for a
convention gathering of friends for a once a year dinner. Used ratings on Open Table, Trip Advisor and Urban Spoon to find a place with good food, vegetarian friendly, not overly loud, within walking distance of the convention center hotels, and separate checks. Meze was perfect. We loved the appetizer platter to share. We got 2 for our group. Most got the special of the day dinner, which was a mixed kebab with rice and veggies. All delish. Highly recommend this place. Would go back."

Energetic, vibrant crowd, wide
variety of delicious brunch choices and bottomless mimosas make Mezé a sure bet for your weekend brunch! Patrick, the owner, makes it an extra special experience. He not only took care of us but made certain that everyone else was well taken cafe of also!"

Convenient for Gaslamp area
conference goers. Food generic, except for baba ghanoush, which was nicely smoky. Cocktails look interesting on menu but taste like overly strong bottom shelf guzzlers at your typical tourist trap bar. Bright spot was service - waitstaff attentive and friendly."

Anything & everything was above
our group expectation . Entertainment was very classy for the evening. Service & food was excellent. Great choice for Veg & non Veg food. Ambiance was very appiling"

I picked this place because it is
close to my work downtown and I love greek food, it was very good! We had a lovley date and all the food was delicious. The prices are also very reasonable too!"

I came here for my birthday
celebration on Saturday night and it was definitely the highlight of the night. I was 30 min late due to traffic and the restaurant was still so accommodating and had the table ready when my party of 8 arrived. The food was amazing and the portions were very generous. I had the gyro wrap with fries and could barely finish half of it. There was also a belly dancer who performed and she went table to table and interacted with everybody. She had me do a birthday solo dance and then a group dance. She was awesome!! At the end of dinner, the staff surprised me with birthday dessert and sang happy birthday. It was very thoughtful and a great way to celebrate my birthday. Thank you Meze for a wonderful time!"

My husband and I visited Meze for
the first time for the Valentine's Day special. This was $60 per person. It started with an appetizer of hummus, spicy feta, and pita bread. We each chose an entree and a dessert. The food was good, but even at the end I found it to be on the pricey side."
Dined on 2/14/2014
The food was delicious. We had the
hummus starter that also came wirh a spicy cheese dip. So good. Then we split two entrees, the chicken and the filet mignon. Both were cooked perfectly and had great flavor. Finished off with two desserts, the baklava and the Greek doughnuts. Both were served with vanilla ice cream and both were delicious. Service was all around good and the staff is very friendly. We had a very nice, cute Russian girl as our server which took care of us nicely. The owner also came out to see if we were pleased with everything. The ambience was also nice. We sat outside on the patio which has heat lamps to keep you comfortable. All in all, this is a must try restaurant."

A very nice time. The staff are
very helpful and friendly. The food is good and fairly creative - although there is not too much that can be done with Greek food. The theme is Greek Fusion so do not expect to see all of your favorites. I very much missed a warm octopus dish and taramasalata. The biggest miss though was the absence of Greek Wine. There was one white and one red - no rose at all. This might of been fine if the rest of the list was truly distinguished but it was not - a mostly hodgepodge list of standard California wines. Meze really needs to upgrade the list."

We had dinner at Meze on a
Saturday night before the show. It was wonderful. We were on a romantic date and it was perfect... Their special flaming appetizer was a nice touch and delicous. We had a plate of the grilled shrimp and lamb tenderloins. They were full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The wait staff was very, very friendly and helpful. They smiled and were always pleasant, helped us pick the perferct dishes, checked on us often and even gave us directions when we left. We also loved the atmosphere. The windows went to the top of the very high ceiling and gave a nice view of the street. The colors and artwork were very tasteful and gave a warm feeling."

Our waitress was lovely and
accommodating...Hummus is GREAT as were the dolmas... other stuff was okay"
Dined on 1/30/2014
The food was good, we had the Meze
Platter and tried a lot of things. We were a group of 8 and had fantastic service. Most of the group ordered a drink recommended by our server, "Drop it Like Its Hot" and thought it was fantastic. The food was good, not fancy, pretty basic Mediterranean food. Our server did a great job, especially for a group. The ambiance was okay, very casual atmosphere. Would go back for a casual meal but not on the top of the list."
Dined on 1/27/2014
We were pleasantly surprised that
our phenomenal dinner experience was further enhanced by the beautiful and talented belly dancer who performed near our table. Wow, what a treat! Of course the food was crazy good. Keep up the good work everyone."

If it wasn't for LivingSocial, I
wouldn't have known about the great restaurant. With generous portions and delicious entree and dessert, I'm sure my husband and I will return to this place. It is a bit pricey, so I'd save this for a special occasion."
Dined on 1/15/2014
This was our first time at this
restaurant and we will definitely go there again. We had hummus with fresh pita and a full plate of veggies. It was delicious. Then we ordered a 3 course daily special which was an excellent deal. The greek salad was fresh with lots of vegetable besides lettuce. We had chicken kabobs which were moist and tasty. Rice was fresh and fluffy. Overall, a delicious meal."
Dined on 1/3/2014
The four of us were looking for
something good, quick, and reasonably priced on New Year's Eve before heading to our event. Meze accommodated. The server was great - attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Our food was delicious - we ordered kabobs and salmon and rice, and everything tasted fresh and well-seasoned. No drinks, just water (we were on our way elsewhere to imbibe). The check included an automatic 20% tip - which I'm assuming was a holiday-only thing (I hope!). We will go back!"

We were visiting from out of town
and yelp recommended this place. It was awesome! Food was excellent, service was excellent, there was even a belly dancer!"

My friends and I were back for the
holidays and we had a little reunion at this restaurant. It was delicious food and good service! We definitely had a great time"

I recommended Meze to a friend for
his birthday. We had an awesome time! As always, Meze did not disappoint. We had a group of 7 people, and all were impressed! Thank-you!!"

The food was great! I had the gyro
and the flavor was great. I got it with the side salad and that was also really tasty."

I've always had an open heart and
mind for trying new foods and Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food is some of my favorite to enjoy. After hearing about Mezé, I knew I had to give it a go and I am so glad I did. Andrea(Dre) was my server and was everything you expect from a server to be and more. The owners and brothers, Patrick and Raymond, made it a point to visit my table and welcome me to the restaurant. I had the gyro with feta cheese fries and it awesome. Definitely will be back and will recommend to family and friends. Also, a great place for small bar gatherings with friends. Good drinks and the perfect space for group to have a good time."

Meze was a real pleasant surprise.
We booked it to have dinner with a couple of friends that were visiting San Diego for only two days. We wanted something in the Gas Lamp District and it was ideally located. We arrived on time and were immediately seated at a very nice corner table. The menu is Mediterranean and was filled with excellent choices. I had a Gyros plate that was very good. My wife had a lamb Kabob and she really enjoyed it. Our friends had a flaming cheese appetizer and both had Salads. For desert my wife and I shared a chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. The prices are very moderate for this restaurant district. We will be returning."

Been to Meze for dinner a few
times (always had a delicious meal) and decided to give the Sunday brunch a try. The food was great and our server made sure we were always refilled on the unlimited Mimosas. My friends had the unlimited Bloody Marys and their drinks were never empty either. A great stop on the way to a Sunday Padres game!!"

Everything we tried was excellent!
Visited during ComicCon, and thought we'd test service and qualify... Sure enough, not let down. Severs were in costume, staff was on point and owners were around. Great patio for people watching with heat lamps. If they could pull off top service during the busiest weekend, they must be great on a normal night. Look forward to trying brunch on the weekend. Will def return soon. Must try Saganaki, grilled sparahus salad and lamb kabob, salmon, Or grilled shrimp!"

I have been there numerous times.
Patrick and his Bro (who runs the kitchen) have created an awesome environment with excellent food and entertainment. I went the other nite and they have an Artist showing his stuff and then 4 Belly dancers performed for about an hour. You can sit outside on the patio with the Heat Lamps and people watch as well."

Always a great experience at
Meze. I haven't tried too many items on the menu, but the items I have tried are amazing. I just keep going back and ordering the same items. Appetizers: Hummus with pita bread. The hummus is homemade, and you can tell. It comes with warm pita bread. Quesadilla with chicken. Chicken, cheese, and bell peppers in a pita bread-type tortilla. Comes with a dipping sauce. Delicious. Entree: Chicken Kabob. Very flavorful chicken in a large portion with veggies and rice. Dessert: Homemade Baklava. This stuff is not only good, but inexpensive. $3 dollars gives you a slice with honey drizzled on the plate."
Dined on 7/8/2013
Meze takes its name from the small
plates (hot and cold) that it offers. There is also a good selection of entrees. We found the food excellent and the service from Patrick absolutely outstanding! We plan to return very soon."
Dined on 7/6/2013
The service was amazing (thanks,
Jen!), great advice on menu items, and very attentive! We tried the baba ganoush, very smokey, and the best we've ever had. The jalapeño-cilantro hummus was also excellent, not too spicey so my husband was able to enjoy it. We did the two item combo for the appetizers and added gyro. The gyro meat was moist and delicious, and complimented both dips. For entrées, my husband went with the chicken and filet combo kabob. The chicken was so good he didn't even touch the filet until the chicken was gone. I had the Mezé kabob, ground beef and lamb, with just the right amount of spiciness, and accompanied by perfectly grilled eggplant. All in all, a great meal...we'll definitely be back."
Dined on 6/30/2013
I was really excited to try this
restaurant. Unfortunately, it was subpar. Service was terrible. In a group of 6, on a Sunday at 7:45, we felt rushed when the server kept coming back asking if we were ready to put our entrees in. When the food came out, everything was bland. When we finished our wine, he server took the bottle off the table and cleared the wine glasses, never asking if we would like another glass. Unfortunately, it seems Meze is another tourist restaurant, in a tourist area, giving no thought or consideration to its customers or quality of food, but continues to remain on business simply because of its location."
Dined on 7/1/2013
This is one of our favorite
neighborhood places. Everyone is friendly and the service is excellent. The food is always outstanding with unusual tastes - I love the salmon with salsa and the caprese is terrific. The wine list is greatly improved with many nicely selected wines well priced."
Dined on 5/31/2013
The food here is very good. We
went during their happy hour so beer was $3 and appetizers were half off. The hummus was great. My husband had their burger which is huge and delicious. The fries are also delicious. The waiter was friendly and helpful. He took our order promptly and we received our food pretty quick. After that though, we didn't see him. We had to ask for our check after waiting quite awhile. We had wanted to try their baklava, but after waiting so long and not even being asked if we'd like dessert, we decided we didn't want to wait longer. We will probably go back and hope for better service. The food was great!"
Dined on 5/22/2013
I gave Meze a total of 4 out of 5
stars due to the food prices, which were a bit steep. The menu featured Mediterranean classics, such as gyros, hummus, Greek salads, and kebab plates. My friend and I shared a burger (lamb, beef, and pork) and an asparagus fruit and nut salad, both of which were delicious. Portion sizes were large. Burger was $18, salad was $15. Meze also offers a variety of small plates (tapas style...hummus, tziki, firey feta, etc.) .... prices for these range from $9-12ish. I would go back, but only with a coupon (available from San Diego magazine)."
Dined on 5/23/2013
Our service was very attentive and
professional. We'll be back."

We decided to eat at Meze for a
friend's bachelorette party dinner with our gorup of 6 girls. This place was delicious! We picked Meze due to all the great reviews and we were not let down! Everything we ordered was yummy. We got the flaming cheese, delish! The babaganoush was one of the best I've had in a while, very fresh tasting. There's also an asortment of yummy speciality cocktails, wr loved all the ones we tried. We also really liked the gyro plate and the chicken kebob. I'd highly recommend this place. Lets not forget the beautiful belly dancer ;)"
Dined on 5/18/2013
Tasty food (small plates or
large), they accomodate special requests like gf, hookah before 10pm (outside) etc if you call them ahead of time. Our waitress was the bomb, and the water guy came by a LOT to ensure we were hydrated. The cocktails are delicous and like none I've ever had before. We had the feta/red pepper puree dip, spanokopita, and meze kabob. Everything was beyond delicious. Will definitely be coming again."
Dined on 5/10/2013
The food is excellent:: tasty,
plentiful, gourmet, representative of the Mediterranean, with a some Italian, Greek and Middle Eastern elements. I enjoy the ambiance of the place in a strategic location in downtown by the Gaslamp District and close to the Petco Park. Not too romantic, not too wild. Fits many expectations. Personally, I'd return to this place on a special occasion or when I feel more comfortable to spend a little more than the average restaurant. Your bill with taxes and tips included for two persons can easily exceed $50 dlls. with just a basic plate and some wine or beer, so it's not everyday dining for many."
Dined on 5/7/2013
We had another great meal at Meze
the other night. The flaming cheese appetizer is always impressive and delicious. and the assortment of beef, chicken and shrimp that we ordered was outstanding. The restaurant had a very festive and fun atmosphere (helped by an assortment of very original and tasty cocktails), and further enhanced by the terrific service we received from Dre and the rest of the very courteous and friendly wait staff. To top it off, there was a very talented and entertaining belly dancer who really got the restaurant going. Highly recommend Meze for lunch, brunch and dinner!"
