MezMez is just about perfectI would highly recommend Mez to anyone who would like great Mexican food. I had fabulous chicken tamales there. I would also recommend their drinks, I had the Blueberry and Basil Margarita and it was amazing. Not too sweet or savory. The service was great, Anthony waited on us and was very nice, outgoing, and helpful. So in short, Mez is great.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable Upscale Mexican FoodI have dined here a couple of times for dinner and a couple of times for lunch. Each time I have been impressed by the food -- it's well seasoned and tasty. The service is always good and friendly. I would highly recommend making a reservation, even for lunch, as the restaurant tends to be pretty busy.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AM1st timethat was my first time there and i would come back. it is in a GREAT AREA AND THE FOOD CAME OUT IN A TIMELY MATTER ONCE WE ORDER N IT HAV AN INDOOR OUTDOOR AND UPSTAIRS DINING AREA WHICH IS PERFECT OUT WITH FRIENDS ON A NIGHT WITH THAT SPECIAL SOME ONE5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMUnexpected FlavorsWed. PM early dinner:
The cold shrimp appetizer, Coctel de Camaron, was an outstanding starter for two. Reminds one of Ceviche, but with a subtle kick. Fish Tacos with catfish had great texture and taste. The flank steak Quesada was huge and filled with a spicy rice and veggie combo which worked very well. The spice was fantastic but unrecognizable. Dipping sauce was rich, smoky and hot. Very Nice. This dish was heavy on the rice and way too light on the beef.
Nice loud crowd. Service was prompt and although our server was accurate and effective she seemed robotic. Maybe too many stations or too many hours.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for Expense ReportThere's a lot of people there in the corporate world. The place can get loud at times, but the food is very good. If you drink alcohol, they will get you ($6 beers, $8 margaritas), but if you don't, then Mez is not a bad price for the food.
If you're in the area, you might as well look at Page Road Grill too (just around the corner & owned by the same restaurant group).5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious! One of those rare menus when it is so difficult to make a choice you just pick one arbitrarily and firmly close the cover. Love that the entrees came with several yummy sides. Guacamole appetizer was also very good. Service was friendly & prompt; mixed drinks were fine.
Only critiques: my dinner guest's plate featured a fresh cilantro "garnish" that was too much/took up too much space on the plate; also the place felt a little "close"/closed in, from hostess stand to rather tight booth. The atmosphere was a little dull but then again, it was a Wednesday night. Have been for lunch when it seemed more vibrant. On neither occasion was the upstairs open.
Overall, an attractive restaurant with delicious, not-your-standard Mexican food.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI love this place. Only myI love this place. Only my second time here but the food and service was wonderful. The corn soup is out of this world. Lots of seafood dishes from which to chose. Drink menu is extensive. A little pricey but worth it.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMPre-show dinnerBeen here before, usually for lunch, but a group of us went for dinner before our show on Saturday night. No wait (with reservations) and our server was excellent. All the food was great. Guacamole appetizers and soup. A wide range of entrees from the fish special to tacos (my favorite) all were delicious. We'll be going back again.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMquick dinnerWe stopped in for a quick dinner. We have been here before..the margaritas were good, the braised beef special was good . We will be back to try other dishes..other diners were raving about their food and the sangria was going down easy. I"ll try the sangria next time....hope to be back soon.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMChic MexMez is one of those great finds where you can enjoy upscale tasting Mexican cuisine without spending more money than you feel you should. The menu offers some traditional favorites but also surprises with original offerings including the Mez Caesar salad with green olives and a touch of jalapeno. This is my go to lunch place with out of town visitors. I am sure it is fantastic for dinner as well and one of these days I want to hit it at happy hour time and just sit at the bar.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMupscale MexicanGreat food - definitely different than any other Mexican place I have been to. I had the spicy honey margarita which was awesome, but not all that strong. If you want a great tasting drink with not too much buzz, it's great. Then we had the queso flameado dip with chips and tortillas. Very unusual and delicious dip, not like any other queso you've had. The enchiladas de pollo were also unusual with a spicy shredded chicken and mole sauce. The highlight was the dessert - tres leches cake. WOW! that was delicious and so unusual. Cake soaked in milk with toasted almonds and meringue on top. So delicous! It was a bit loud inside which made it a little hard for a first date, but it was still a great choice and a hit with both of us.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always the food is greatAs always the food is great along with the service, clearly one of the better places in the triangle for a business lunch as evidenced by the gatherings there during lunch and after work.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant surpriseNot a fan of Mexican cuisine but went with the flow. I was pleasantly surprised as the menu was extensive enough that I didn't have to order a burrito. I ordered the barbacoa (Pork osso bucco) it was delicious. We had appetizer of chips with hot mango salsa and quacamole, very good. I could make a repeat appearance.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good experience, foodVery good experience, food and service was good. The noise level was high for me, hard to hold a conversation at our table.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMI thought the food was excellent.I thought the food was excellent. Very good mole. Excellent ambiance, good service. Clearly busy, but not obnoxiously so. I look forward to going back soon.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat bar drinks, really goodGreat bar drinks, really good Mexican food comparable to Dos Perros but a little more casual and reasonably priced, and right off I40 so a convenient location for friends living in Durham/Chapel Hill meeting up with Raleigh ones!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMMez is loud, but I realizeMez is loud, but I realize there is no remedy. The food and staff are great!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Lunchtime ExperienceExcellent experience. We were sat immediately after arriving (i.e., our reservation was honored on time). The server was cognizant of the meeting we were having during our lunch. She excused herself each time she came to ask if we needed anything. The one thing I was particularly impressed with was that she informed each of us that she had left the detailed breakdown of food on each of our respective bills in case we needed them for expense purposes.
Great food, great service. Highly recommend Mez.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWaitress was great. My wifeWaitress was great. My wife did not order right and management was more than helpful in making things right. We have been many times and will continue to go in the future.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and food choices.Excellent food and food choices. Yep!You can't beat Mez for a high quality and speedy business lunch. I'm always happy with the service and "no where near your ordinary Mexican" fare.3/4/2013 12:00:00 AMI love Mez!
