Metropole at 21c HotelFun energy entertainmentI sat alone so I was able to observe. The wait staff each have their own personal artistic flair.
Accommodating , professional and informed staff. The food was also artistic and deliscious.
I throughoughly enjoyed my experience.
Must go back to try the dishes I didn't order.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGood first time experienceExcellent table service, really interesting and yummy food. We'll be back.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat atmosphere, and theGreat atmosphere, and the food was excellent.
Minimalist menu, but everything we tried was excellent.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMService was great, attentive,Service was great, attentive, and the food fantastic.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticWonderful meal for our first visit to this great new restaurant. Service was great, server took time to explain several of the choices and steered us to things we truly enjoyed. Scallop appetizer and carrot salad were great. Loved the seafood entree and my wife enjoyed the chicken. Can't wait to return to try other items.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA place to eat before the show.Overall food was good. Appetizers/starters came out right away. Entree's were delayed & we had to skip dessert in order to make it to the show on time. Theater is right across the street so only took 5 minutes.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique DiningOur server Ryan was outstanding. He explained menu items with such enthusiasism. Nice to see someone who enjoys his job. Fodd was outstanding. We ordered charcuterie bar (hot olives awesome), quinoa fritters, pork chop and string roasted chicken.
While portions of appetizers were smaller, the entrees were quite substantial. All the food was delicious, well prepared and presented. Enjoyed thoroughly.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst-timerTruly a fine dining experience. The food was wonderful, service great.....very noisy. Loved the art work.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the atmosphere! GoodLove the atmosphere! Good food. Unique menu items. Service is not the best--not very attentive.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful dinnerWe had a wonderful dinner at Metropole! We will certainly be back soon.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMMost unusual and flavorfulMost unusual and flavorful food ever. A great culinary experience. Only drawback is that the chef changes the menu every few days, so you may find a favorite and it won't be there when you return at a later date.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in town! The food was absolutely delicious and very fresh. Portions could be a little bigger but only because everything tastes so good.
The service was excellent.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb in every way possible.Superb in every way possible. Enjoyed a delicious breakfast with my Husband. Fresh is the word! Flavorful Potatoes, Fresh Fruit, Perectly Cooked Eggs, Toast Browned Amazingly. Bonus: Didn't have to beg for a Drink Refill! Atmosphere was quiet at Breakfast even with many tables filled. Can't say enough about this establishment. Don't let the high-end facade fool you, even the middle-classs are welcomed here :)4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMIt took a while for our waiterIt took a while for our waiter to actually take our dinner order after first courses were ordered, but overall the experience was very pleasant.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFood with a ViewFood with a view takes on a different meaning here -- there are both permanent and changing art exhibits as a feast for your eyes -- food is more appropriately proportioned ! Our table gave us a perspective of the entire area and was enjoyable. Because we were there for lunch, the choices were minimal but all of our selections were filling -- scallops, bison burger, and kale salad. Only two desserts are mentioned and one was not available but suddenly appeared, hand delivered by the manager. Looking forward to trying dinner soon.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMsmall plates, expensive.small plates, expensive. Our waiter was super: friendly and helpful, HOWEVER he asked us if we had plans after our dinner so that he could make sure to accommodate us. We told him we were headed to the 8pm show at the Aranoff, yet we suggested that our food be served in 2 courses. Wehad to wait for our food and our bill. did not get out the door till 7:55 and literally RAN across the street as we were wrorried they would not let us get to our seats. I would have preferred not to have been put in that situation. Otherwise it was a good experience.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinitely worth a visitThis was our second visit to the Metropole. Everything was a delight and the service is terrific. This is not formal dining -- quite the contrary. Very friendly and casual. The food in creative and prepared wonderfully.
Definitely worth a visit.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMInspiration for thoughtful dinersChef Michael Paley's new home in Cincinnati is a comfortable culinary highlight of the city's new restaurant scene. Every dish is a beautiful composition of both flavors and colors. If mankind had only realized that food from a wood fire oven could be this inspired, we might never have left the fire pit for the gas stove!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was our first time at theIt was our first time at the Metropole. The art was fabulous and Michael Hurst who took us around was outstanding. Our waiter was excellent as was the wine. The entre--for the price at which it is marked--was ok. I can do a better job at home and I will not come here for the food in the future. I might come in for the art. Overall, this was not a memorable experience for me because it is not often that I go out in town and spend $350 for a meal for four.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe live in Louisville andWe live in Louisville and enjoy Louisville's 20 1C Hotel and its restaurant Proof on Main. So, we were anxious to try the "Cincinnati version."The refurbishment did an excellent job of maintaining some of the unique features of the former Metropole Hotel, including the tile floors with all of their imperfections generated over the years and the high plaster ceilings. The restaurant layout is open and airy, with some natural blonde wood features to warm things up. Our waiter was energetic and attentive, but not overly so. He recommended a very nice wine had a good price point. I was with my mother, who is not a big eater, so we split an entrée, a wood grilled pork chop were recommended by our waiter, which was beautifully presented.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great. The serviceThe food was great. The service was exceptional! All of the waitstaff that we encountered were knowledgable, personable, and seemed to enjoy the restaurant as much as we the customers did. A great experience all-around. We can't wait to go back.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable meal with excellentEnjoyable meal with excellent service. Their menu is very limited and trendy. Highly recommend the carrot salad; it was amazing. Pork chop was nothing special, wouldn't order it again. Thought the wine list was on the pricy side, especially if ordering by the glass. Desserts were delicious.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great time at Metropole. We had a great time at Metropole. the food was wonderful from beginning to end and the service was excellent. We will return.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good experiencevery well done food, non-fussy but different and prepared perfectly. Rubarb desert was the only mediocre item. Serve is swift and waiters are knowledgeable, although some are a bit too busy being hip. With the nicely preserved tile floor, and no fabric in the place it did get very loud once the bar and restaurant filled up. Will go back, but early in the evening so we can still carry on a conversation.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time here. EnjoyedFirst time here. Enjoyed our meal, but selections were limited.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe are big fans of Proof (theWe are big fans of Proof (the sister restaurant in Louisville) and made the journey to this 21c hotel and restaurant. We were not disappointed!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe atmosphere, service, andThe atmosphere, service, and food all lived up to our expectations. We celebrated my husband's birthday at Metropole and couldn't have been more satisfied. Our server was attentive without being "in the way" and was very knowledgeable about the food which helped our party of four make informed choices. I'm still thrilled he suggested the burnt carrot salad - it was one of my favorite dishes of the night. Our server explained how the chef prepared the carrots to get maximum sweetness and that wood grilled flavor - I certainly couldn't replicate that at home - I see another visit in our future so I can enjoy that salad once again!
The cocktails and shrub drinks are out of this world! Treat yourself!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been to the MetropoleWe have been to the Metropole three times now. Twice for dinner and once now for lunch. I have to say we enjoyed the dinner menu way more than the lunch menu. Two of us ordered the cauliflower soup and whereas it tasted very good it was luke warm at best. My salmon BLT was on a lovely bun and came with a delicious salad but lacked much flavor despite all of the items on the sandwich. Overall we had a nice time but just wished our food would have had a bit more punch.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe each enjoyed the cheeseWe each enjoyed the cheese plate, wine, ale, Bison Burger and desert.
The pate serving was small for two; the cheese offered was nice...but sparce for two. We are not expecting huge amounts for each serving...just enough for each to place sample of cheeses, etcetera to place on the provided bread. The smoked butters were outstanding. The Bison Burger was exquisite. The wine and ale suggested could not be better! Our server and the service staff was very attentive and pleasant...hence the 20+% tip. Be prepared for a "Champs-like" atmosphere sans the TVs blaring. It is a lively, freindly atmosphere. We enjoyed striking up conversations with the couples at tables to our right and left...much like being on a cruise at dinner time!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMMetropole was absolutely phenomenalMetropole was absolutely phenomenal!!!! I believe this may be one of our new favorite restaurants. The atmosphere is very energetic and fun to where the restaurant will put one of the many four foot, yellow penguins at your table. The foot was no different. We got the roasted chicken with marrow onion as well as the prime rib with ashed onions and fingerling potatoes. All the foot was perfectly cooked and just melted in the mouth. Then, after you eat the meal, they bring a copper cup full of flavored cotton candy when they give you your bill. The cocktail selection is not half bad either. After your meal, we strongly recommend checking out the art gallery around the corner. We will definitely be returning to Metropole very soon.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe chose this restaurant becauseWe chose this restaurant because the Arnoff is across the street. We had a reservation and it was available immediately. The service was excellent. I thought the restaurant was quite noisy, hard to hear. There were only two in our party and we were seated in a line of tables with a booth type bench plus chair. I really don't care to be quite so close to neighboring customers although one gentleman recommended string chicken which was great. Other comments about the meal: My partner's fish was not cooked enough; there were no small salads available to accompany the entrée and the choice was somewhat limited. The cotton candy was a neat idea.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMLimited menuNice ambiance, service very good, very limited menu. Would like to have had more salad, soup and lighter options.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOur dinner was remarkable. Our dinner was remarkable. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. My daughter-in-law's birthday celebration was a big hit.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMCincinnati currently enjoysCincinnati currently enjoys an embarrassment of riches on the restaurant scene and I was surprised that half the tables at lunch were empty. I ordered the Ploughman's lunch and it was an adventure: wurst, made and aged in house, a fruit curry, delicious cheese, 7-hour egg, great bread, salad, delightful pickled cucumbers, "smoked" grapes with honey for dipping. And have you ever had a shrub? Non-alcoholic, refreshing and complex. Mine was blood orange with cardamom and some other kind of herb. The best part? Total bill for lunch for 2: $30. Go. Fill up those tables.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was awesome! Enjoyed theIt was awesome!
Enjoyed the artwork and the food was beyond amazing!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had lunch at MetropoleWe had lunch at Metropole at 21c and it was outstanding. The Kale Ceasar was a pleasant twist on the usual Ceasar salad. Our server was attentive without hovering. We will definately going back for dinner.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThis dining experience wasThis dining experience was excellent. It was the first visit and on Easter Sunday when most places are noisy and set up for buffets only, it was refreshing to experience fine dining and great service. We wanted to unwind and it was a perfect place to go. The visual presentation on the plates as well as the pairing of accompaniments to the entrees were inventive and delicious. Both diners ordered dishes unique to the restaurant and we were not disappointed at all. The chick-pea panisse was a real pleaser, as were the spaetzle dumplings with the grilled shrimp; side dishes were well prepared too.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable First VisitDined here on Saturday evening, this was our first time here and really didn't know what to expect. The food was exceptional, the wood fired over make all the difference. I had the roasted chicken with spices...very very good. The portions were very manageable, and while full we did not walk away with the overstuffed feeling. Wine list was a little pricey, excellent selections, but could use more moderately priced varietals ($30-$50) range. The service was great, not intrusive at all, and if you dine here you will notice that you will have a variety of people who serve your table...which was nice because you never had to "wait" for anything. Our server was great, attentive, and very helpful in choosing our meals.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMCincinnati needed this place!Cool, hip, modern but not pretentious.
Amazing atmosphere and food was incredible! Great, concise wine list with lots of interesting options. The cauliflower steak is a must try!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOur experience at the MetropoleOur experience at the Metropole was fantastic! The food was very yummy and the service great. We had a fairly large party of 7 and the server did everything right, even splitting the bill into 6 different checks . Some servers would complain but she did not. Will definitely go back again.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMMetropole gets it!Metropole is a very unique dining experience. The cocktails are designed by true mixologists and the cuisine is like getting culinary education. Metropole deserves a two thumbs up! Very current!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant is very trendy. This restaurant is very trendy. You feel like you're in New York City instead of Cincinnati. Fantastic food (the duck was perfect!) and great service!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service wereThe food and service were outstanding! We had the pleasure of sharing our table with Cuddles for a time before he went to visit other guests. The restaurant is comfortable with a relaxed atmosphere that makes for a wonderful evening out. Thank you for having us!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGotta love those penguinsLoved the vibe, fish was quite tasty and the bison burger was good.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMRecommendedGreat ambiance/decor. This is a foodie destination with twists everywhere, starting with smoked butter and 7-hour eggs. Chick pea puree soup was awesome, the addition of fried chick peas and beets adding textural and visual interest, the serving a bit on the large side. String roasted chicken was divine. Swordfish was cooked to perfection but had a bit too much salt and oil for my taste. Panna cotta was very tasty and the serving size just right. The wine list is impressive with something for everybody. Wine by-the-glass portions were very generous. Staffing level ensured service was prompt. ALL the wait staff was great: friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and accomodating.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food at Metropole is excellent. The food at Metropole is excellent. However portions are very small and there was a delay in getting some of our food. All in all it was a great meal. The restaurant is very noisy and the chairs quite uncomfortable for me. The are leather chairs in which the leather hangs from wooden rods. I am a petite woman and could not touch the floor if I sat back in the chair. Sitting forward in the leather chair meant sitting on the very hard wooden rod.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were really impressed --We were really impressed -- it's a great addition to Cincinnati!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat first visit ...Wait for seating despite the reservation didn't allow us to finish our drinks and gave our party time to catch up a bit and tour the art - an amazing place. The food selection was good, but not a wide selection. Everyone in our group enjoyed their choices. Appetizers were shared and all delicious! Entres and sides after the appetizers was all anyone could eat. Wine was marvelous and not expensive.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAbout the hippest place youAbout the hippest place you can dine (or stay) in Cincinnati.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
