Others had Francais, Milanais and Red sauce. All pleased. Desserts prepared in house! Nice lunch menu with good variety. I had the summer berry salad both times, first with hazelnut tilapia and next it was offered with Cajun salmon. Both were delicious but I had a slight preference for the tilapia. The restaurant space is nice but not fancy. Different rooms and seating styles add to the ambiance. The intentionally worn chairs did not go with the decor in my opinion. The waitress was cool at first but then ended up being nice and helpful. Will try it for dinner and would recommend it. We were able to sit outside which was what we had requested on the reservation, so I was happy to hear the receptionist immediately directing us to a table outside on our arrival. The service was friendly, simple and quick: we did not have to wait long for a waiter to find our table. Metro serves good beer (always a plus with me) and the food is, again, simple but tasty. My ravioli with crab was homemade and accompanied with a nice sauce. I wouldn't think Metro is a 'foodie-'restaurant, but it is definitely a nice place to go to when you want to go out for a satisfying bite, in the company of good friends. The service is also friendly and efficient in most instances. I have qualified my coments because at one busy lunch time around the holidays we were shoved off to an undesirable table (and my lunch companion was disabled). On this last visit, I didn't think my lunch was as good as other choices, but again it may have been the choice I made. After hearing people rave about it on many occasions, I finally decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. The food was served in a timely manner, giving a relaxed feeling...not a hurried one. The waitress was very attentive to our needs and made sure that our water glasses were always full. The food was great and plentiful! There are two menus, one the specials and the other a standard menu. My husband and I always split a salad - their manchego is wonderful and quite large. This time I tried a chicken dish off the special menu. It was good, not the best I have had there, but certainly an excellent choice. My husband had a hamburger which was equally good. The attractive thing about Metro North is that you can have a burger or a full course meal and their prices are reasonable for both. This restaurant is located within easy driving distance of downtown Princeton, NJ. Started with wings, quite tasty (although messy - they really should give you a little bowl with water or extra napkins without having to ask). My wife had the Salmon Florentine - a large, tasty portion of salmon (I stole a bit). I went with the NY Sirloin, which didn't disappoint, and comes with a decent portion of vegetables.
We did feel a little rushed - our area of tables were seated, and served each course at the same time. But only a little, overall we had a great dinner.
