Diner Reviews
  • "We went on a Monday night and it was very quiet- hardly anyone there. But the service was great, the menu offered enough vegetarian selections that pleased one our guests. Two of us ordered the fish dishes and they were both prepared very well. Overall a great experience."

  • "I have eaten here before and it was wonderful. This experience was completely opposite and is now in my bottom ten restaurant experiences. I sat in the bar, indulged in their happy hour specials, and planned to eat dinner. Martini was good, although how does one go wrong with a $5 chocolate martini ;o). Server was extremely unattentive. Never asked me if I wanted any food. Eventually got his attention to order beef wellington appetizer. Beef was fatty and prepared medium rare. Not the quality I've had in other restaurants. Server never followed up to see if I wanted to order food. Heck, he never asked if something was wrong since I only ate 1 out of 4 appetizer servings. Ended up eating at nearby restaurant for dinner."

  • "We ordered 13 small plates for a group of six which was one too many as we had no more room to fit in dessert! I wish I could go back to taste recipes with all the tomatoes growing."

  • "I went there for lunch with 4 of my co-workers on a Wednesday. The new menu is confusing. An entire side of it is dedicated to this massive brunch menu and the other side the font is the same for the name of the dish vs the description of the dish. In otherwords it just looks like paragraphs. Everyone at my table seemed confused. I got the biscuits and gravy with two over easy eggs. The biscuits were awesome, buttered and toasted before being slathered in gravy. The gravy tasted ok but the bits of sausage were microscopic which I found odd. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The place was practically dead yet it took quite a while to get our food and when we did it wasn't hot, just warm."

  • "We had a blast at the Metro. The food was amazing. The staff service was great too. We will be back."

  • "Waitress was nice, atmosphere nice, food not good. Had the lobster stuffed steak. The lobster was a claw only. The filet was very good. Also had the walleye which was pretty awful. The gorgonzola mashed potatoes just ok and the squash was very good. Ordered specialty drinks that were not good, actually had to have the bartender add lime juice to my gimlet. Everything was just ok, not great so wouldn't go back."

  • "We had a great time at Metro this time. I hadn't eaten here in 2+ years because I previously considered the food to be average. Well, new chef and new menu = good times. We had a group of 5 of us and all of us enjoyed our meal. Service was great even though they were short staffed. Overall, a much better experience than what I had remembered."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed every bit. The staff treated us very well. Could not say any negative about Metro. My hat off to you."

  • "The food here was excellent, but the service wasn't great. The drinks were very good, but I had asked for an olive in my drink and never got one. I would return because the food was excellent."

  • "Menu had many good choices. I opted for recommendation from server, which was a white fish. Prepared as described with good presentation. Bar was packed, although dining room was more on the vacant side. I enjoyed the quietness."

  • "their fish is divine. love their walleye. love their veggies!! visually, the chef Issac always prepares with a flare, taste is amazing. We will be back to check out their creative new menu....check our their sky bar on the roof with a zen flair. waterfalls, lovely bar and sushi a plenty. you have to try it...view is lovely...."

  • "Our dining experience was quite enjoyable, nice ambience. We could converse without hearing difficulty or feeling rushed to leave. Meal was served in a timely manner. Food was very good, we ordered off Downtown Dining menu. Waitstaff was attentive to our needs. Previously been here and is One of my favorite downtown stops for dinner or a nightcap (including Zen on Seven) after ballet or... Also, Kudos to the valet attendant, was very friendly and informative in directing us to other attractions nearby."

  • "Food was good, service was good. I especially liked the desserts."

  • "We waited over 15 minutes to be seated. The Host was very ill prepared for the business that was there for Downtown Dining. Our server was working really hard and was outstanding."

  • "Went there after the Symphony and arrived early for reservation. Hostess was very pleasant and seated my wife and me immediately. Mimi, the server was amiable and pointed out the specials menu and drinks. Food was great and Mimi was available without being over-bearing. Would go back again."

  • "(The food descriptions were not what the food tasted like. We had the garlic infused hummas, and neither of us tasted any garlic and little salt. We eat fairly bland food and this was even blander. The fish tacos also had a mustard sauce, nothing like the description or Mexican flavors about it, little cumin on the fish, as described) The desserts were the best part of the meal so I would recommend any meal topped off with any one of the three offered. Our table of four sampled the entire Downtown Lunch offerings and the Chef salad was voted the best plate and presentation on the menu! The presentation of the fish tacos was also notable, the Italian sandwich lacked eye appeal, though my son said the thinly sliced meat was delicious."

  • "The fish fry was more than ample. In hindsight my wife and I could have easily split one and had left overs. I loved the $5.00 martini special! Great spot for dinner before a show at the Riverside. We will definitely return."

  • "Dined for lunch during Downtown DinningWeek. It was hectic and service was not timely even though we mentioned a tight schedule. Sidebar in the elegant Metro Hotel annualy is my first menu choice for the set menu discount promotion. The food is well planned and delicious. The setting is modern downtown elegant. Desert is outstanding."

  • "The atmosphere was great with stylish decor and cozy tables. The variety of seating options (booths, high top tables, etc.) added character to the overall space. The long bar was also a plus with plenty of seating to watch the TV's if desired."

  • "$50 package through Living Social included dinner for two with an appetizer (we chose asparagus and lobster crepes) two entrees (we chose a rib-eye and risotto, and a dessert (we chose flourless chocolate cake). The meal also came with a bottle of wine as well. All the food was excellent and the service was friendly an prompt. Would highly recommend Metro"

  • "Enjoyed a very nice late-morning brunch on a gloomy spring Saturday. The restaurant was quiet and we were seated immediately in a nice 4 topper. The ambiance is dark modern retro (If that makes sense), with seating options at various heights and on different sitting arrangements (chairs, couches, etc). Our service was impeccable and the for was delivered in just the right time. The four of us had different dishes ranging from fresh toast to omelets specially prepared. Everything was appealing to the eye and very tasty. The coffee was excellent. This restaurant is very reasonably priced for the food with many dishes in the $10 - $15 range. An excellent value for sure."

  • "My husband and I went to Metro on a Living Social deal. Got there early for their happy hour. Good choices of half price appetizers and drinks. We were surprised though that the restaurant seating was actually just to the rear of the bar/lounge. Food was very tasty. The bottle of wine was their house wine, it was fine. We had the individual salads, the ribeye with spinach, mashed potatoes and the chocolate torte with raspberries for dessert. The only other time we were at Metro was for a private party in the rooftop lounge. When weather warms, we will be back. Enjoyed our dinner."

  • "The food was good, but I was not happy that I almost did not receive my open table points because the person who greeted me did not put in."

  • "If ever there was a restaurant that fit the bill for a relaxed atmosphere, yet classy and warm all at the same time, this would be it. The only concern would be it was a little noisy...but, with any eatery with people...it's a sign people are enjoying themselves....so one needs to accept that...if not stay home. A vibrant atmosphere smoothly done with the ease and comfort of a private club. Enough about the atmosphere. The food is terrific. We expected a modest salad before dinner....no....a full and respectable salad with a luscious rich dressing. The same with the entre...we had the rib-eye steak. It took the entire plate up with a generous portion of vegies, a not so shy portion of mash potatoes and an unexpected egg on top of the steak."

  • "We visited on a Thursday, so were able to enjoy the Thursday deals (half price bottles of wine and $5 cheese/cracker/fruit platters). For once, we actually paid less for a bottle of wine at a restaurant than we could buy it for in the store! The food overall was very good; however, my filet mignon that I ordered medium came out as well done. That takes a lot away from a steak of any kind, but especially a filet. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful, and the ambiance was excellent. The restaurant was a modern "metro" vibe, and we sat side by side on a love seat with a long table pulled right up to us. We would definitely go back, but next time I may send my steak back for actual medium, or avoid the steak all together."

  • "I have been to METRO many times but this last time was truly outstanding. We went there for dinner for our anniversary and it really was a special evening. The food was absolutely delicious and the service excellent. They gave us a table in the corner with a sofa. Truly the perfect spot for a nice romantic dinner."

  • "I went here with a small group for a birthday brunch. Our server was very nice and personable. The food was very good and everybody seemed to enjoy their meals. The vegetarians found options just as easily as the meat eaters, and we were very pleased with how quiet and private our meal felt. We plan on dining here much more frequently."

  • "Nice choice for a not-so-private Valentines Dinner with my spouse. Food, Service and Ambience were great, and we had a terrific price-fix meal for the two of us. Very satisfied, and we will return."

  • "My wife and I both enjoyed the tenderloin filets stuffed with lobster. They were prepared perfectly and were accompanied with the very tasty mushroom risotto and perfectly prepared broccoli. We enjoyed a bottle of Similar cab, and believe it or not, had room for the ever-delicious chocolate mousse. My wife didn't finish her meal, and even couldn't finish it all at lunch the next day. The wine selection is very affordable. The ambience is very nice: quasi upscale club/bar and romantic dining."

  • "We used Amazon Local deal they had as a promotion and paid $50 for it. We expected better food. Our appetizer was a mini beef Wellingtons and the beef and mushrooms inside the pastry was not seasoned at all and it tasted flat. We had the chicken risotto and the ribeye. The risotto tasted ok, but the chicken in the dish was dry. My ribeye was dry aged and the cut was grissly. A high end place should choose their meat with care and not serve steaks with grissly bits running in the middle of the cut. The strawberry short cake was good even out of season. We were a bit surprised at the lack of quality as the menu items would have cost otherwise $133. It was definitely not worth that price. I would only go again if I has another deal."

  • "I'd been to Metro before but only for after-work drinks and appetizers with co-workers. I recently tried it out for dinner and was NOT disappointed! The food was really yummy and the restaurant felt cozy and chic (without being stuffy). Our server was very helpful and informative as well!"

  • "I used a voucher for my meal here, but I don't know that I would go back. The food was fine, but I felt the price was too high not just for the quality of the food but because the atmosphere was more like a bar than fine dinning. Service was Ok."
