  • "We 'be been going here occasionally since they opened and the food is still great. Small plate of lobster spaghetti was rich and creamy with lobster you could taste. Salads always good but heirloom tomato and burrata was outstanding. Husband's sea bass also great. Nice variety on wine list. Albariño refreshing. Try the rose; not sweet and nice for summer meal. Love the pleasant patio and service has always been professional. Really love this place!"

  • "We dined at Metro at the recommendation of old friends. After being seated we waited 10 minutes w/o seeing a waitperson; one came only at my request. Throughout the meal, inordinate amounts of time elapsed between waitperson visits - perhaps understaffed on a Friday night? As for the food, nothing raised above mediocrity...and at above-mediocrity prices. The most disturbing dish was a butterscotch pot du creme. Where the apparent intent was to enhance the butterscotch with salted caramel, the resulting dish was barely edible and probably elevated our blood pressure levels dangerously high due to the salt crust hiding under the whipped cream Return? NOT ON OUR LIVES!"

  • "In a rare meeting, six good friends from four different states had brunch at Metro on a lovely Sunday. We sat on the patio and had not only a lovely visit but also a delightful brunch. The other five people had never been to Metro; however, all of them want to return! It was such a pleasant visit. Thanks to Metro for helping us to enjoy the day fully."

  • "This was our first visit to Metro and the food and service were great. The price point was a bit higher than I expected, but we will be back for special occasions."

  • "We were warmly welcomed, and were able to sit before our Open Table RSVP which we preferred. Nice ambience and eating outside was perfect."

  • "It had been a while since we'd been to Metro Lafayette - - our loss. Great food, excellent service. Dining on the patio is a real treat. No more gaps in visits here - this place is a 'must visit' on a regular basis."

  • "I made reservations through Open Table - the table was ready, in a great location and as a result, we had a wonderful Father's Day lunch. I highly recommend Metro Lafayette - the food was outstanding and our server was excellent!"

  • "The food and service were both great. We ate outside but were a bit concerned that since the outside area is next to Mt. Diablo Blvd we would have road noise but if there was any it wasn't noticeable. Excellent place for an outdoor meal."

  • "Expensive for such a small salad. For an luncheon salad there were few items that were listed in the description. No bread served with it. We thought it was overpriced and just okay. Would not order it again. We were not rushed and had a leisurely lunch."

  • "we came for lunch and sat outside. very pleasant and not too loud. the peach brushetta was outstanding. caramelized onions, goat cheese on grilled sourdough with grilled peaches!!! fabulous--great combination. Salads were very nice, and pastrami was very tasty as well. they also make a very good french fry but ask them to be crispy. service was very nice."

  • "On a warm summer evening there are few places as appealing as the patio at Metro. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the service was well-informed and attentive."

  • "We love Metro Lafayette because the food is excellent. They open early in the evening and we like to go for quiet birthday dinners. The crab cakes are always good to start and there is always a new and trendy main course that we will love. Also, the pear martinis are really great!!!"

  • "We went on a Saturday and ate outside. Our waiter was attentive and patient, as there was a group of us who hadn't seen each other in a very long time. The brussel sprouts were delicious. My meal, not so much so. My poached egg was hard. The waiter did bring me another egg which I was able to slide onto the toast. But by then, the tartine was a bit cold and hard. A friend's salad had no dressing on it. Again, our waiter brought some on the side when asked. The fish sandwiches were reported to be excellent. I would go again for lunch outside, but not order the same dishes. Also, we went to dinner there one time with 2 other couples. The noise level at that time was so loud, we could not hear each other. Haven't been back inside since. "

  • "We had a nice lunch at Metro. The food was good but overall rating was down because two of our party thought it was bland. Great for outdoor dining in good weather. The service was very good."

  • "We were early (11:30) on a Sunday. The restaurant was quiet; however, the service and food were excellent. Our dishes had poached eggs, perfectly done. All in all, it was an excellent brunch. I've been to Metro for brunch on other occasions, dinner, and at the bar for drinks/bites. It has been excellent each time. And parking is simple and BART is less than 10 minutes walk."

  • "Usually Metro has a great Brunch - and I've been there several times - but this day they were definately off - I ordered the Eggs Benedict, and it came out with soggy toast - barely toasted.......the eggs were watery - and a very small drop of hollandaise - i don't like a lot of hollandaise, but do want to have enough to taste it - the staff was also out of it, maybe a late Saturday night of partying - as they were not super attentive - and our waiter had to keep telling the bus staff to do their job - as they were just hanging out chatting. My daughter had the gnocchi, which was very good - so no complaints there - Will go back again, as hopefully it was just one of those days - "

  • "Went early on a Sunday. There were quite a few people outdoors but only one couple inside, where we sat. With those few people, it seemed service was a bit slow. I think they did not have their full staff yet. Had to ask a couple of times for bread, and asked for some cocktail napkins for a very full drink, but I had to finally walk over to the bar and get them. I realize the menu they have online is probably a sample, but the 2 things I mainly went there for, were not even on the menu, so I was a bit displeased. The décor inside is kind of cold and sparse. . The staff did seem friendly but just a so-so experience. As aside note, I had a better experience on an earlier trip to the Metro in Montclair. The service there was more attentive."

  • "Unfortunately, we were indoors. The food was okay, but our server was pretty curt and distrated. Seemed like he was having a bad day. The food could have been better, but it wasn't bad. I'd give the place a resounding meh."

  • "To be fair, we went on Mother's Day and it was crazy busy. Our order took forever and the toasted sandwich bread was black at the edges, the fries were cold, and the burger was over done. This place seems to have great potential but may still be working out the newness kinks."

  • "We meet friends here for lunch every few weeks, especially in the warm months. Don't understand why service seemed so slow for this last visit. Restaurant not nearly as busy as usual AND seemed to have plenty of staff. We sat a long time to place our order, receive our order and then to receive the bill."

  • "Consistently one of my favorite East Bay restaurants. We shared an assortment of starters and a great bottle of fairly priced wine. We sat outdoors; the patio truly makes Metro a very special dining experience. "

  • "bday lunch for 8.Started off fine w/sign lavender martini. Then faded. Lunch/appies served at same time. When asked why, no answer/apology. My "steak" salad was fatty, tough tri tip One of the salads was brushed against back of friends hair. Waiter knew because he took it back and did what he called " flipped it". friend was told by table behind there was salad in her hair and on chair. plates were not cleared, we stacked to side. Never offered coffee. A token dessert was set in front if bday girl without any utensils. Bill with unfortunately with 18% tip included. $45/each for one drink, shared two late Appetizers, one entree/person. Called manager about experience. He sounded concerned, Promised to look into in, call me, never did."

  • "We've been been enjoying the patio at Metro for weekend lunches and brunches for a number of years. The patio is spacious and shaded, yet there is plenty of light to keep it cheery. The ambiance is comfortable with service that is relaxed to match a weekend vibe. I like the fact that both brunch and lunch items are available so it's not just "breakfast" offerings. For those who like a good Bloody Mary with their brunch, Metro makes an excellent, tall, deliciously spicy one!"

  • "The Metro has fabulous food! There were 4 of us & we ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer - they were just ok, I've had better. However, the entrees were outstanding! We each ordered something different: Petrale sole, pork chop, rib-eye steak & the fresh fettucine. The pock chop (w/the mushroom au gratin OMG!) & the rib-eye were juicy & absolutely to live for. My friends who ordered the fettucine and Petrale sole were very happy with their choices. The ambience at the Metro is nice however, the noise level is quite loud. We were seated at the first table adjacent to the bar area & it sounded like a sports bar on game day so marks down for that. Perhaps if we had gone later, after happy hour, the noise wouldn't have been so distracting."

  • "We celebrated my brother's birthday... and we couldn't have asked for better food, wine or service! Our server Sean was very wine savvy (me, not so much) and he brought excellent samples for me to taste... my only complaint is that they were all so delicious that it almost too hard to pick one! From greeting to good-bye...it was top notch service all the way!"

  • "I haven't been to Metro in about 3 years and was pleasantly surprised when I returned the other night. It's trendy but not pretentious at all, and they make their little Lafayette corner feel as metropolitan as they can. The wine (a Napa Cabernet) was delicious and everything we ordered was on point. I recommend the hamachi, brussel sprouts, and beet salad especially. According to one of my companions, the Cosmopolitan is stellar. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. Can't wait to go back!"
