  • "We were very happy with the service, the setting, and the food. My son loved his burger and I my steak with the delicious cognac mustard sauce. Excellent salmon and tuna tartare appetizer which was enough for two people. Expensive but you are paying for the location and the decor. The waitress could not have been nicer or more helpful. I was impressed that they asked me what kind of liquor I wanted in my Manhattan. Always a good sign."

  • "I have been here over 10 times, the experience last couple of months keeps getting worse. Server though pleasant was not trained.id. Host put diners almost on top of each other although restaurant was relatively empty. We saw two parties leave without ordering by the time our meals came. Wrong meal was delivered, not served until the our group had finished. No manager came to apologize or correct. The creamed spinach was soupy and poorly prepared. We asked for the customary crackers and cheese. We received four crackers and a "sorry no more cheese". When we left the hosts and manager made it a point to say good bye, no one asked us if everything was OK Sadly, this experience was the final straw we will not be recommending or going anymore."

  • "Our brunch was excellent, but the waiter left a lot to be desired. Don't let one waiter spoil the trip for you, definitely worth the food, just build in some wiggle room to sit around and wait."

  • "Had a delicious lunch outside on the patio , which is below street level. They have umbrellas which is nice. I had the met chopped salad with shrimp which was large and had brocc, avocado, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, beets , bacon and I think some corn . It was just what I wanted for brunch. My husband had a pork belly sandwich which was very fatty. He said it was ok, but he wouldn't get it again. People around us had gorgeous looking burgers. The hot dog looked delicious too. Service was fine."

  • "The food and server were great. The indoor and outdoor hostesses, however, were rude and incompetent. We arrived and I announced my reservation (I put outdoor seating in the notes). The indoor hostess had a bad attitude. She wouldn't help us and told us to go outside. The outdoor hostess told us that it would be a 20 min wait, then finally seated us after I insisted twice that I had a reservation as she seemed not to care that I had one. I've never been given the runaround like this at a restaurant before. I will NOT be going back."

  • "Our meal was exceptional- cannot say enough about the Bruschetta- we actually came back the next day and had it for a snack. Other notable menu items: glazed duck wings, roasted chicken, buttermilk biscuits, hamburger, croquet madam. We will definitely come back again."

  • "The food was absolutely delicious but unfortunately the service we received was less than stellar. We waited over five minutes just for a waiter to introduce in himself and another ten minutes after that to get our drinks. He also seemed bizarrely judgmental on how much food we were ordering (I ordered eggs; my friend ordered eggs; and we asked to split the Captain Crunch French toast). It was obviously a lot of food but it didn't warrant judgement."

  • "Food was decent, but service in the library bar was pretty poor. Didn't manage to flag the waiter down to order a drink until my entree had arrived! And forget getting my water Glas refilled. Sit in the regular dining room for better service."

  • "The food is always prepared wonderfully, and the prices are surprisingly great for the atmosphere, location, service and food you're getting! "

  • "Have been sampling the Met's Soft Shell Crab emphasis...this night's version was a disappointment..although was described as tempura batter (which should be quite light) the batter was very thick - burying the crab in fried dough and masking its delicious flavor - a crime against these lovely critters. "

  • "The fried Burrata starter was fabulous - spicing was perfect. The soft shell crab was heavenly, as was the asparagus risotto it sat upon. Great beer selection and the Blood Orange Cosmo just the right blend of sweet/sour"

  • "What a great lunch menu. The service was very efficient and friendly. The food is excellent and the outdoor patio with the banquet setting and pillows to support my back was wonderfully comfortable. I look forward to going pack. And the prices are reasonable. Love it!!!"

  • "Food awesome.....waiter extremely slow and forgot to put in order. Had he admitted it and apologized instead of blaming kitchen things would have been better. Don't bother to tell them you are on a special event they will do nothing to recognize it. Like I said food great."

  • "I go to Met Bar because it's convenient to where I live. The 4 Cheese Mac & Cheese was delicious. We also had the delectable lobster cheddar dip to start. Those were the high notes. Other entrees ordered included: the Chopped Salad (fresh and nice-sized portion), Spaghetti & Clams (good, not overly oily), Fish & Chips (one out of two large pieces had been deep fried for too long and was no longer appetizing), and Scallops (do not order this dish here - you'll be very disappointed). We also ordered a pitcher of sangria, which was fine."

  • "way too loud inside, felt like i was going to deaf. waitress seemed frazzled and slightly incompetent. took my parents here for what i thought would be a nice dinner, but it was too loud and not very good. we were also seated at a table in the dead center of the restaurant so every time someone walked by (every 30 seconds) our table vibrated uncontrollably. "

  • "We took my boyfriend's mom here for Mother's Day and sat outside. The service was excellent. I would highly recommend this spot for a quick breakfast or lunch."

  • "Food wasn't great, but I needed to find a restaurant at the last minute for a reunion with a friend, and this served the purpose - it was conveniently located, relatively uncrowded on a Thursday evening (and therefore not too noisy), the service was fine, and my salad-with-salmon was fine, just not great."

  • "I have eaten at MET Bar & Grill in the Natick mall several times. It bears mentioning that MET Back Bay, though related to the other MET restaurants, has an entirely different menu than MET Bar & Grill. You won't find their "burger in a bowl of arugula" front-and-center on the menu, but they were very willing to make a lettuce wrap for me. The burger was excellent and service was prompt and courteous. The MET is always a good choice."

  • "Food was very o.k. Asked for steak to be medium rare, it came out closer to medium well. Chicken dish was overwhelmed by soy sauce."

  • "Very disappointing. Bar has some good drinks but the bartender in the upstairs bar was both surly and rude. We were 4 people and he made it seem like any work he did was a huge hassle, like pouring a wine glass. Menu is totally unimaginative and very basic. Nothing seems to be a feature Burgers fish chicken steak salads. All boring. Asked waitress what was specialty of house and she said salad and chicken. Wow. This is not an impressive place. Food was over or under prepared depending on what was ordered. "

  • "The food is amazing!!!! They have a wide variety of options and everything is made with care and a lot of thought. One of the best restaurants in the Back Bay."

  • "There were 4 of us. Great food and a happy memory! Our table favorite was the waiter recommended pork stuffed hash browns. The other dishes were delicious too though. It was such a pleasing atmosphere. It was busy at 9:30a.m. but we never felt rushed and it was not at all loud. The cost was a little splurge at $90 (with tip) but it was worth it!! "

  • "Went for brunch. Service was okay, friendly but had to ask for basic things like sugar for coffee. Food was good but mine was cold and poached eggs were overcooked. Would probably give it another try but plenty of other brunch options in the area. "

  • "The location of this restaurant can not be beat... beautiful views of Newbury and Dartmouth St. The restaurant itself is beautiful and lovely, with amazing windows. Our service was impeccable... the food was ok. I had the capt'n crunch french toast and it was average; my husband had the stuffed nutella french toast which was huge and impressive, but overly sweet. We will definitely return but will try some more savory food the next time. "

  • "we asked a table by the window as we saw two tables open in the area we were sitting at, but were given a strict no, there was only one table they could sit us at, which was a bit cramped. we stayed for ~1.5hrs, during which time none of the two tables by the window was occupied. weird? or impolite?"

  • "We had a really nice, early dinner. We arrived a few minutes earlier than our reservation and were seated immediately. Food was very good, and quick. The waiter brought extra chips for our guacamole without us asking. We were thanked by everyone on the way out. The only downside was a ridiculously loud table next to us, but not sure what the restaurant could have done without possibly making it worse. They knew there were irritating but didn't seem to care."

  • "I came for dinner and ordered the the back bay chopped salad, which was described as "almost everything, plus bacon, avocado, and cheese" minimally expecting the bacon, avocado, and cheese. The salad came and there was no avocado. I asked them to bring me some on the side, and they said they did not have any avocado. However, my boyfriend sitting across from me was eating a turkey burger with avocado on it, which we found very strange. The server failed to tell me they were out of avocado when I placed my order or when she brought the food out, which would have been nice. She did not take anything off the bill, and was unapologetic about the experience. "

  • "I dined at MET Back Bay with a group of friends on April 11, 2014. We had a reservation and were promptly seated. Our server Kristin immediately greeted us and provided outstanding and personable service throughout dinner. Three of us had the salmon and were extremely pleased with the preparation and accoutrements. Two members of the group had the chopped salad with "almost everything" and were very complimentary of the flavorful blend of ingredients. Overall, a very pleasurable dining experience."

  • "The title really says it all. The Met Back Bay has a trendy yet intimate atmosphere, but the quality of the food does not justify the high prices. Two decent salads with nothing other than tap water cost $34."

  • "This place is in a great location but it's not that great. The food was average but pricey. They didn't have enough people working the hostess area, the waitress kept bumping my broken leg. Every time we asked for something she was flustered. We were put in the library with a large group wiht a screaming child, so much for a lady's brunch on newbury street, instead i could have gone to the local diner for the same atmosphere."

  • "I went with a friend for restaurant week. A little fancy but very comfortable especially for a great night out to catch up with a friend. Food was pretty good especially the biscuits with maple butter and tres leches cake. Service was great too."

  • "Been here before and always ate at the downstairs bar-I'd stick with that for my next visit. We had steak tips and the skirt steak, with sweet potato fries and truffle fries, calamari to start. I'd say the calamari was the winner-it was great, crisp and light, not at all oily - really delicious. Steak tips were fine-I like the presentation with the salad on top, but the fries were sub-par (sweet potato fries were better, but still not great). Skirt steak got a so-so review from the diner who ate that. I'd say stick w/ the appetizers and sandwiches-the more expensive entrees are not going to be worth what you could get elsewhere for similar cost."
