Dinner takes a long time so I would not recommend if you have restless children, we were celebrating a 60th Birthday so it didn't matter. For us, spending 3 hours dining and drinking white Sangria on a beautiful night and a lovely patio – perfect. The food and the service were excellent! Sharing several small dishes is fun and makes for a very entertaining dining experience. The food choices and tapas style is a superb idea because it gives the individual time to digest and talk, which creates a nice comfortable social atmosphere. The bartender was polite and friendly. The wait staff were polite and knowledgeable. The food was prepared well. Personally, I prefer a bit more richness to the sauces and while the food was very, very good, I was waiting for the one dish which would really knock me out. In closing the food and/or sauce/s could have been a bit more spicy or sweet depending on the dish. Besides that one small factor, my dining experience was excellent. The food was all phenomenal and the drinks and deserts were very good. It is a great place for a romantic date night or just a casual date night. The only issue I had was that it was sometimes difficult to understand our server when we asked for suggestions however he was definitely enthusiastic and tried to be helpful. He was just a little difficult to understand and made my first experience with a tapas place a little more difficult. We lingered over lunch without feeling rushed. The service was spotty probably due to more than expected patrons on a perfect spring day. That certainly didn't jeopardize the quality of our meal. Great for an evening just for two.. or a wedding party. We ordered two cold tapas and sangria to start. Sangria was great and kept us pleasantly buzzed throughout the evening. The two cold tapas were delicious and whet our appetite. Two more hot tapas, two more.. and a final two, and we were stuffed. Everything we ordered was well cooked and beautifully flavored. I placed a request for a quiet area where we could talk easily while dining. The location was ideal, the grounds were beautiful and our waitress was very well informed and very friendly. I just let her select the Tapas for us and every one was delicious. We talked and ate for nearly four hours and the restaurant was accommodating the entire time. We loved the beef tenderloin and empanadas de buey. Our friends loved the patatas bravas which we found a little to spicy. The gazpacho was awesome as was the shrimp bisque. The rainbow trout was awesome. We also had a lobster casserole that was just fair.
The service was great. All in all a great experience, and be prepared to have some favorites and some not so much, but sampling is so much fun!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMStaff issuesI made reservations at this establishment 2 days prior to my celebration. The reservation was for 12 people, including myself. Upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised to find our table set and ready to go. The room that the table was in was the closest room to the front door, not suitable for a large party in my opinion. The atmosphere felt stuffy and cramped. When asked to please add 3 more chairs, the hostess looked at me as if it was an issue. As did the wait staff. I happen to be a supervisor at a moderately upscale restaraunt and know that add ons are never a problem. Especially in the case of a large party spending a copious amount of money. We look forward to old favorites (like the bacon-wrapped dates) and new tapas. This time I had some steak with blue cheese and a pomegranate reduction. Nice. The restaurant is in a fantastic old house, with high ceilings, inset oak furnishings, and oriental rugs. The outside seating (when the weather warms up) is delightful for a evening of Sangria and tapas. An enormous 100+ yr old oak stands guard over the patio, and the road is far enough away you can hear crickets and birds in the green space around the restaurant. We have been there many times before and the atmosphere is always romantic. It was a rainy evening so we did not get to eat outside. That is a shame because their patio is one of the best around. The food was great - we sampled a number of hot and cold tapas from stuffed red peppers to almb tenderloin to seared sea scallops and each was delicious. My wife was so full she passed on dessert, but I enjoyed my favorite expresso creme brulee. When it comes to eating out, my wife and I go by the motto, if we can prepare it at home (with little effort), it had better be prepared in a way we had never done or downright outstanding. This place has great tapas, some really unique flavor combinations, really great atmosphere (even a banquet hall for weddings) inside and outside, the wait staff was attentive yet unobtrusive and the prices were good. There is outdoor seating when the weather is good. The food is served in small portions, so the idea is that you can try a wide range of items from the menu and share. The table is set with a stack of small plates and extra forks to make sharing easier. I recommend the crepe rellena made with goat cheese, pine nuts, and apples to start. Our waiter provided excellent service and helped pick and excellent white wine from spain. Because it was a Friday night, there was a flamenco dancer who danced around the tables accompanied by guitar. The white table cloths, large windows and classic crown molding provided an elegant setting. The selection of cold and hot Tapas along with a huge wine list offered ample choices. Our server was very knowledgeable and offered some suggestions which we loved. The desert choices were wonderful... we shared a hot chocolate cake with caramel ice cream. The preservation of this historic home and the tranquil grounds made this evening a memorable time. Overall, the service was ok, though they were too busy to be attentive. The noise level was very high -- we could hardly hear each other. It could have been the acoustics of the old converted mansion as there were probably only about 30 to 40 people in the small room we were in. I traveled over 100 miles to meet my son and daughter for brunch. The outside venue is fabulous and there was adequate seating for large groups as well. And while I was a bit disappointed because Meson Sabika's ad had boasted excellent tapas, I was pleasantly surprised by the presentation and diversity of their brunch.
