Meso Maya has good food, and the downtown location has really nice ambience. However, one diner's food was lukewarm and the overall experience was not as good as usual.

Excellent all the way around! Best carne asana I've ever tasted. Chicken enchiladas with mole sauce are excellent as well. Chips, salsa, and guacamole were top notch. Nothing bad to say- can't wait to go back!

My wife and I came here for a dinner during her business trip. The service was excellent from start to finish. Everyone was smiling and friendly. Our waiter knew the menu well and the carne asada ranks in the top tier that I've ever had. We enjoyed this place and will come back the next time we are in Dallas.

We love Meso Maya. The food has wonderful complex flavors. Not your cheesy tex-mex. We always go before a Stars hockey game. service was a bit slow on our last visit; which is unusual.

My husband and I are total foodies and found this restraunt on multiple food review apps...and the reviews were on point! This restraunt was wonderful, from the chips & hot sauce, to the ceviche (best ceviche we will probably ever have!), to the carne asada - which was cooked medium rare as requested and was to die for!, to the margaritas! The wait staff constantly replaced our chips and hot sauce bowls to the point where we had to tell them to stop because we didn't need any more! They had a Wonderful, attentive wait staff.Overall - this restaurant was outstanding, and a perfect meal before heading to a Stars game, since it's in walking distance. 5 stars!

We ate on a busy Friday night - glad I'd made reservations ahead of time. The restaurant is smaller than I expected - cozy and noisy. They had a great patio, but it was too cold that evening for us to want to brave. Their drink menu is interesting and extensive; the dinner menu had a nice mix of traditional and "chef specialty" dishes. I shared an entree with someone, and it was plenty for both. All in all, the food was good, but nothing that I think I'd especially seek out the next time I'm seeking Mexican. The desserts were by far the best thing we had - highly recommend the flan and the pastel de chocolate cake. Also the Mexican coffee was delish with hints of chocolate and cinnamon.

My girlfriends and I met up at Meso Maya downtown for a pre-concert dinner this past Saturday night. The food was AMAZING and the service was really good. There were a few lags where server disappeared for too long and this also happened when I was there a week ago. Felt like both times we were there longer than needed because we were waiting for the waiter to come back for more salsa, more drinks, bring our check etc. All the waiters are very friendly, and the food is always amazing. Just would be nice if the waiters would frequent the table a little more to check and be sure nobody needs anything.

The only reason I deducted a star on food was for the "Avocado" margarita. It comes with a slice of pineapple and is served beautifully, however I'm pretty sure my drink was straight pineapple juice. Too sweet!! Aside from this drink, everything else was perfect.

I had girlfriends in town. We had a wonderful dinner on the patio. Only complaint was it was a bit slow from seating us with a reservation, a lot of lag time between drink order, food order and receiving the food. The food however was amazing and our waitress was very sweet. The patio is fabulous! We will be back!

As always, the food was very good but the service left a lot to be desired. It took a full 5 minutes to get a drink order in, a couple more for chips and salsa, etc. the fact that we had to ask if there was somebody waiting on our table was a bit bothersome. By the time we got finished, at least 4 different people had taken our order and brought the food and drinks. Not conducive to leaving any tip or even coming back. I will give it one more try to see if service is that bad all the time.

The service was great. No rush. Allowed us time to talk and enjoy ourselves. The real issue was the food quality and of course the cost for that quality. Queso dip was a little runny. When we were served the food was not very warm. In fact, before we finished the food was actually cold. We like our food spicy and everything was rather bland. Overall, we are unlikely to return or bring guests there in the future.

Really cool patio/courtyard dinning with nice lighting at night! The service is slick without being over bearing. Try the Chefs specialties on the menu for some really great eats! Somehow it is not on the 'to be seen at radar' so getting a table is not a hour or longer wait ordeal. Some impressive fish dishes too, so its not all mex or tex mex at Meso Maya!

We had a delicious dinner, two of chef Nico's specialties: Kobe beef perfectly prepared for my husband and tender, juicy short ribs accompanied by a mildly spicy cheese poblano chili for me. Mango tea was slightly sweet and refreshing. This is my second visit and I really enjoyed the quieter Sunday evening atmosphere to savor a memorable meal.

Visited earlier in the evening to avoid the late night loud crowds. We were seated outside. Unfortunately the table was right near a nasty smelling drain, so we asked to be moved. The waitress eagerly seated us elsewhere and the staff was seen attending to the smelly drain. Keep that in mind if you are seated outside. Service was good and attentive. Food was very good. Cocktails very good. Bit pricy. Definitely make reservations if you plan on going after 7 pm. The place was extremely loud and crowded as we were leaving. We'll definitely be back.

Food: average to above average. Enchiladas serranos were the best Service: OK, but a little too agressive pushing the drinks/appetizers/deserts. Noise: pretty bad, and the reason we won't return. Place was only 1/2 full but what a racket! Very hard to hear people across the table. Net take: there are plenty of other MX places with equal or better food where it is actually pleasant to dine, so why waste time here. If I were to return, I'd try the outdoor seating - it must be quieter.

I am a regular at forest ln location. For practical reasons i reserved downtown location to meet some out of towners that were staying close by. I had never been to brunch, even at forest ... I expected a spread besides some specialty breakfast dishes. So food was not what I hoped it would be. But what was shocking was the neglect of our server. I have never been so poorly served. So disappointing and embarassing; I had highly recommended this place.

Has a great atmosphere although it was a little loud. Salsa was delicious and had a roasted flavor that we all loved. I had the chicken budin and it was wonderful. My SIL had the pescado but wasn't too impressed. Tacos were great! Didn't like being set at a 2 tables pushed together, leaving the 5th member of our group eating on the crack. Also didn't feel like the waitress was attentive enough--brought tea refill timely, but no offer to refill for the water drinkers who were 1/2 way or more out of beverage. Asked for more salsa while we waited for our entrees and she brought 1 bowl so we had to ask for more again.
