We were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary and we loved every minute of our dining experience at Mesa Grill. The rib-eye steak and the salmon were outstanding. The corn dish and the twice baked potato were very yummy! The salads were OK but a little dry. Once we asked for more dressing, it made them more enjoyable to eat.

The Chile Rellenos my friend had the other day was pretty good, but after the first few bites, the intensity of the flavor - salt? overpowered other flavors. We ordered two appetizers to share, the queso and shrimp tacos. Both were excellent. We ordered two grilled salmon entrees and one grouper. All the flavors were delicious and well blended. We loved the mushroom quesadilla and shrimp tacos. I tasted my son's tomato tortilla soup and was sorry I didn't order that too. At our waiters suggestion, we also tried the crispy squash blossoms , which were amazing. The appetizers are big enough for sharing. We ordered the steak, chicken,salmon and special, all cooked to perfection.The Friday fish special melted in my mouth. It was a mild fish with mussels in a delicious tomato broth. I could have been satisfied just dunking my bread in the sauce or eating it as soup. You must try the roasted corn side dish too. For some strange reason we had never gone to Mesa Grill. Well we ended up going two nights in a row. The food is unreal! I've been to other Bobby Flay restaurants and they have all been great but Mesa Grill takes the cake by far. The mushroom quesadilla was excellent (word of caution for those who might not be very adventurous: this comes with a mostly raw egg on top as you might see in France). My husband ordered the rabbit, and felt it was the most tender and best cooked rabbit he's ever had. I had the lamb which was tasty. The sticky toffee pudding was marvelous - often these can be dry, but Mesa's was moist and the salted caramel sauce was to die for. I also had one of the pear margarita drinks, which I thoroughly enjoyed - a great mix of sweet and tart. Food is exploding with flavor. Stars of the meal were the hashbrown/bacon quesadilla app and the breakfast potatoes that came with the meal. We also tried the grits. I am no where near an authority on those, but they were really good too. This time our meals (tuna, chile relleno, etc.) didn't seem quite to standard for the Mesa grill. The chile relleno a favorite, was too salty this time. Will go back with our next trip, but hope this time was a fluke. I've had both the appetizer shrimp tamale (excellent - though it's called "garlic" that flavor is not overwhelming and the sweet corn keeps it from being too hot) and the chile relleno (also excellent and in my favorite meaty chile). The food was amazing and the service was awesome. I rarely order pork in a restaurant, but thought I would give it a try and I was not disappointed. The flavour combinations were amazing and I would go back just to order that. Our server was great - she recommended the corn side to us which was also amazing. The service was outstanding, not only for recommendations, but our glasses were never empty and we were well attended to throughout the meal. Being a Bobby Flay restaurant, i had high expectations going in and was not disappointed. I'd had a mediocre experience at Flay's Bar Americain and was hesitant to try Mesa Grill. Turns out, Mesa Grill is fantastic! We requested a table in a quiet section and our request was honored. The entire staff is delightful and friendly and so very accommodating to all requests. And the food is always wonderful.
Our guests loved the restaurant nd were happy with our choice.
This is why we return here for all special occasions and at other times always.

The food was excellent though my rib eye had an overabundance of fat. Being cooked medium rare finding those congealed fat "globs" was not that pleasant. The shrimp and corn tamale and the shrimp tacos as appetizers were great. The tacos exploded with flavor. As a side dish the sweet potato gratin was incredible...could have been dessert. This was my second visit to Mesa Grill, New York and both times have lived up to my expectations. At some point we asked for help our waitress informed Simon and not only was he very informed about the wine he was friendly, outgoing, happy and treated us as if we were the only people in the restaurant wile with us. He recommended a bottle of wine that we found to be fantastic and he came back to check on us. He even remembered my dates name which was huge an she was flattered. Bad Table!!Loved the food at Mesa Grill. This was my third visit but first dinner. The grouper and filet were great as was our bottle of wine. Here is my problem. My friend and I were seated next to a large party. Not just a party, but, a family birthday party for a 3 year old. While no one really misbehaved, it was just a nuisance. The little girl was running around, opening presents and getting lots of pictures taken, with a flashes, in my eyes. There was lots of commotion and it was very distracting. A few times, members of the party were standing right next to our table. My server could certainly see my frustration and the rolling of my eyes on more than one occasion. We have eaten there twice now and would recommend to anyone. Our server wasn't overly friendly and she didn't want to make conversation at all. Our bread was taken before we could even stop and say please don't take it. Dirty silverware but the issue was addressed quickly. Sat upstairs and had a great view of the restaurant. To top it off...the margarita's were to die for.
