A word from Meriwether's Restaurant & Skyline Farm
One way to make sure you’re cooking with the freshest ingredients is to grow them yourself. Meriwether’s grows the produce it serves at its own Skyline Farm and is proud to be among only a handful of truly farm-to-table restaurants across the country. Chef Peter Kuhlman's menus are inspired by the Willamette Valley’s peak-of-the-season abundance, matching our harvest with some of the finest raw ingredients in the world, from the farmers, fishers and ranchers of the Pacific Northwest.

Inside, experience our warm and cozy ambiance with stone fireplaces, hardwood floors, stained glass and copper accents. Outside, guests dine year-round in the covered, heated & enclosed patio, gardens & gazebo. There is even an outdoor firepit, so perfect for a chilly Portland evening. Take a walk through our gorgeous all-season garden that surrounds the entire 2601 Vaughn Street historic building.

Diner Reviews
  • "The food met the expectation from the previous reviews, very good. We had a seat in the garden area and it was delightful. The lamb was cook to perfection and my wife enjoyed the Paella. The only negative was that the cast metal seats were hard. The other seat is a concrete bench. A cushion would have made our time more enjoyable. This was an anniversary for us and we would return."

  • "The patio dining was great - loved the atmosphere, ambience, flowers but the roof air conditioner noise was very detracting from the atmosphere. At times it was hard to hear a normal toned conversation"

  • "We were seated immediately at our reservation time while other were still waiting. Sitting in the covered patin garden space next to water fountain was great. The service was exceptional as well as the freshly prepared food. Looking forward to having dinner there with friends."

  • "I have been raving about Meriwether's since my first experience there about a year ago. This time I brought along my husband and some friends, 2 of whom are from Virginia and 1 from Phoenix. After all my buildup, I hoped that they would be just as enamored - and they were! It was a great evening - lovely atmosphere, terrific food and wine, and excellent service. I can't wait to go again!"

  • "Totally dis appointing. All four of us were of the same opinion. The meal was less than ordinary. There are so many restaurants in PDX that are raelly good, why waste time on Mreiwethers(and money)Thanks for asking. Leonard Lewitt"

  • "One of the best outdoor patio seating in Portland. On a nice day getting a table in the patin adds to the ambience. Service is attentive, most dishes are well prepared with ingredients sourced from their own farm as well as other area farmers. My pizza with prosciutto and farm greens had a nice thin crispy crust and adequate for 1-2 people. So was the sesame chicken salad my companion had. Wines by the glass has plenty to select from."

  • "Meriwether's is a great place to bring clients and out-of-town visitors. Nice dining room and outdoor garden seating. Bar area great for a drink or quick bite. It is my 'go-to' for a consistent, yet not dull, dinner or lunch."

  • "A friend and I made reservations at 3 restaurants in Portland and both loved Meriwether's the most. My vegetarian gnocchi was delicious and managed to be both decadent and light. Our waiter was excellent--his suggestions and opinions on the food and drinks were specific and much appreciated."

  • "Had reservation at 12:30. Got seated at table at 1:05. Lunch served at 1:40 and had to have server pack it up for "to go" because of time. Got back to my office (Montgomery Park) and BLT sandwich was horrible due to being in box and bread was soggy, side salad was soft."

  • "I chose Meriwether's mainly for convenience, as we were meeting out-of-town friends for a late Sunday brunch. All round great experience. Service was considerate and attentive (our waitress brought us complimentary pastries because she was concerned the kitchen was taking too long). Our food was wonderful, and I loved the fact that it wasn't all traditional brunch fare. My scallop salad was delicious, and I had a hard time resisting diving into my friend's bowl of beans and greens in an anchovy broth. Will definitely be back--and will sit outside next time!"

  • "We had a lovely brunch last Saturday morning. The Vegetarian Benedict was very tasty. I also liked the ambiance of the restaurant very much."

  • "My husband and I dined here recently and we were both very pleased with the dishes that we ordered. He had the beet salad and I had the kale/apple salad. All the ingredients for our salads came from their Skyline Farm. I love the farm to table concept! I had the pan seared salmon and my husband ordered the Paella. Both entrees were delicious. We then ordered the strawberry cream puff and the pineapple rum cake. The desserts were good but not great...not worth the calories. LOL The wait staff was very attentive and we were in and out in 1.25 hrs. My only complaint: the dining room that we sat is has too many tables making it a little crowded and some what noisy.. All in all, we would go back."

  • "We frequently enjoy Meriwether's for its food, service, ambience, and convenience. The garden seating is beautiful. Breakfasts are terrific, including a very strong cup of coffee. Haven't been disappointed yet. Reservations are a plus."

  • "We went to Meriwether's for a special birthday dinner celebration and the outdoor seating was enchanting. I thought the service could have been a little better. When we arrived and wanted an outdoor table we were told we needed to wait. We expected this but the message was curt and when we went to the bar to wait, we were completely ignored and had to go up to the bar to order drinks after a good 10 minute wait. Once seated, our waitress was very friendly and helpful but her assigned tables seemed to be all over the place so we waited long periods between her visits, especially when we were ready to have the check picked up. I would go there again and give them another chance though as the food was great and the garden seating worth it"

  • "It was a hot evening in July. We sat in the garden which was nice, but the unshielded air conditioning on the roof was distracting. The service was slow, but they were busy so it was understandable. Surprised that bread was not served by default. I've never seen that before. Food was very good though, although a bit on the pricey side."

  • "Food at this restaurant is excellent. It seemed to us that there were insufficient servers, however. Service was very SLOW."

  • "I can think of no more wonderful place to dine on the summers eve then Meriwether's. The ambience, the garden, comfortable noise level, food and service were impeccable. Meriwether's is wonderful in winter, too, seated close to an open fire with a warm plate of comfort food. I will return again and again."

  • "Excellent service and food. Great local choices. The staff was very friendly, even recognizing that we were repeat customers. Dinner was just as good as the brunch we'd had previously. The grounds are beautiful, not a bad seat in the house, or in the garden. There drinks are fun and refreshing too!"

  • "This was a great place for our anniversary dinner. The food and service were very good, although there was a mix up with the Pantry Board order and my husband was given two of one of his options instead of the steak bites. We ended up being charged for the steak bites which was slightly annoying, but it was taken care of."

  • "was visiting portland with my family for my mom's 60th bday and convinced them we should go to this charming farm-to-table for a "special" dining experience... i did not lead them astray. we did start inside and asked to get seated instead after a quick look at their lovely back patio. would happily suggest to anyone and wish we could regularly make a meal of their pantry board selections."

  • "Meriwether's hit a high note on everything-from food, to excellent personalized service by Russell and the overall outdoor dining ambience. The food was especially delicious and all local fresh from their farm. I planned the dinner and wrote that it was a special occasion for my daughter and they made sure we had a great table and brought complementary champagne toast-it was unexpected and very classy. I highly recommend Meriwether's and look forward to returning."

  • "My husband and I took two friends here to celebrate a special occasion. The restaurant more than met our expectations. The bar is a bit small but the cocktails were perfectly mixed. The restaurant staff were friendly and attentive. They made us feel welcome and anticipated all of our needs. They had a very nice wine list and the food was more than excellent. Our two favorite that evening were the salmon and the lamb; both cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. I had no idea that there was such a lovely patio area there. It would be perfect for any pleasant evening and we will definitely try it out on our next visit because we will definitely be back again."

  • "Beautiful outdoor dining. Interesting and varied menu. Definitely a place to take out of town guests or celebrate a special occasion. Note: there is a parking lot in back. Indoor noise level is quite high; prefer outdoor."

  • "Only gripe I have is the special (salmon) was almost $50; way too much for just salmon."

  • "Meriwether's was my choice for my 75th birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. We were seated at a perfect table for 3 in the center of the outdoor garden. Sara was our server and remembered our drink orders from our dinner there the previous week. All three of our meals were delicious and a perfect choice."

  • "We've been going to Meriwether's for years and this visit was as wonderful as expected! The garden patio was delightful. Our sausage omelet and veggie benedict were yummy as were the Margarita's and Mojito."

  • "We were there for brunch and had a nice experience. Only downfall was we preferred outdoor seating but we were told it was full. We had a reservation and I thought maybe we would have had priority for seating. We were seated near the patio and saw plenty of open tables out there. Our waitress was slow and didn't check in with us much. Other than that it was great!"

  • "We were entertaining family who currently live overseas, so they have had many unique dining experiences. They were charmed by the cozy ambience and style of Meriwether's. We all enjoyed the wonderful food. And the garden dining is absolutely the best in Portland!"

  • "We've been to Meriwether's twice in the last six months or so and both times had a very nice experience - nice atmosphere, the food was excellent, and the service was professional. One minor issue: the focaccia bread seemed overly salty to our palates. We're not on a low sodium diet but do try to keep our salt consumption down a bit. I believe we also noticed this the last time we dined at Meriwether's. Overall though everything was great and we would definitely go back again."

  • "Took my wife here for our nineteenth wedding anniversary. It was a wonderful evening. Very professional staff, beautiful garden, wish they could hide the vents and stacks on the kitchen portion of the building, but my eyes were on my bride anyhow. It's a great place to celebrate a special day."

  • "From reading the menu and restaurant website I expected to have superbly prepared fresh, local foods with impeccable flavors and seasonings. Although the leafy vegetables brought were likely local, it was not as well prepared as my food at home, and not very many local vegetables offered in dishes. The "wild salmon" was questionable. Everyone at the table commented on the blandness of the meals. We had to ask for salt/pepper. I expect to eat better than I eat at home when I go out. The waitress was friendly, no complaints there. All said, I won't go back. My dining out experiences have to be excellent to return."
